As someone who went though multiple rounds of unsuccessful IVF in my late 30s and early 40s it’s good to see this normalised in the news. It sometimes feels very isolating when you can’t have children (not least here when it’s sometimes questioned why childless women are here - I joined during ivf and have stayed for all the other non child related chats!)

So not really an AIBU but maybe a question/observation about the assumptions we make about whether a woman does/doesn’t have children.

Oh wow I missed the bitter crone bit. Nice. Go away.

Stand by for 'shrivelled old hag'.

Because why not?

Reminds of why I don't talk about this topic at all!

It’s very ironic that we have two threads on AIBU right now.

One where posters are falling over themselves to state that they’d never judge a woman for having kids and that they’re astonished that anyone would, because society really doesn’t distinguish between women who gave kids and women who don’t!!!!

And this one, which is 16 pages of people judging one woman for not having kids.

Indeed.

Ugh really. You're descending this all into looks and weird tittle tattle from gossip forums. I think this is really insensitive to posters on here trying to share something not very often spoke about. Thanks for derailing it into some weird national enquirer column.

namechangechildfree · 11/11/2022 18:02

Ooooh if only she'd had kids with him, ooooh if only. Insensitive is what you are. @JennyNotFromTheBlock I can practically hear you slobbering.

namechangechildfree · 11/11/2022 18:04

@JessicaTooManyRabbits I mean. PC lagged.

No I’m just telling it like it is but I still give my full love, support and understanding to all those suffering from infertility. Nothing but love to all of you.

All I have to say aside from that is I do think accurate (and not overly hopeful) education on fertility should be taught to all high school girls as it seems like Jen and some others may have gotten an overly optimistic view of their own potentially fertile time.

Jessicafromtheblock I think maybe make your own thread about the minutiae of 'Jen' and 'Angie'.

namechangechildfree · 11/11/2022 18:15

Can anyone pm the link to the other thread, this one is weird.

JessicaTooManyRabbits · 11/11/2022 18:19

I mean I don’t think Ange looks this good these days day you (these are from the interview about her fertility treatments)
She’s an inspiration on many ways

@JessicaTooManyRabbits honestly you are just being quite creepy now. There must be a JA fans page on Facebook that you can gush over instead.

And I like her! But yeah… this is all a bit weird.

JessicaTooManyRabbits · 11/11/2022 18:21

Fine I’ll stop, I’ve proven my point anyway and I agree with OP about Jen and Brad

HatThatWearsYou · 11/11/2022 18:54

@JessicaTooManyRabbits You are only agreeing with yourself. Not one other poster has agreed with you.

The OP didn't mention BP. You were the poster that brought up the irrelevant BP & AJ... just stop already.

On top of that you've been downright offensive to a lot of people on this thread who have struggled with fertility, are you just trying to wind people up because it sure looks like it!

I really do hope you stop, and leave this thread.

You’re shallow, creepy, smug and judgmental. Everything you post is gross

@RandomMusings7

I meant if she was trying to get pregnant and doing ivf etc how could she not have known about freezing her eggs? Maybe I have misinterpreted what's been said. This thread has turned into a bit of a bun fight.....

bingotime · 11/11/2022 19:47

@JessicaTooManyRabbits

What you said about the posters friend who been trying to find someone decent to have children with for 20 years was awful.

Once you start doing ivf, it's pointless freezing your eggs as the success rate is poor you are much better off freezing embryos at that stage. Egg freezing is better if you are in your 20s / don't have a partner. So I interpreted it as no one told her when she was younger about egg freezing.

How classic that a thread about this incredibly sensitive topic has turned into a discussion of which woman is hotter and which woman should’ve had the luck to stay with an abusive man? Like it’s a game show.

Seriously depressing.

Horrible isn't it.

I've found a lot of posts interesting though.

Dear god, I've just come back to this thread and I wish I hadn't.

Rockingcloggs · 11/11/2022 20:18

'She should have started earlier'!!!! Yeah, I started my first round of IVF at 23. I had six rounds in total, the first five failed. The people saying that know that infertility isn't just related to age yeah?

'She could have adopted'?! Yeah, and you could take your tiny brains, shove em up your arse and fuck off.
