Not to like the Globe Theatre calling me a bitch?

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 05/10/2022 21:11

OK, not to my face. But following the non-binary Joan of Arc play they’ve shared a ‘terfs stop being transphobic challenge’ referring to anyone who doesn’t believe in gender identity as a bitch.

It’s a shame. I’ve been to some amazing plays at the Globe. But they’ve made their position on feminists pretty clear, so I won’t be going back.

This moaning, moaning, moaning, gloating, refusing to argue your point, complaining, bitching, griping, whinging, belittling? What shit is this? Is this how you're rearing your daughters? Because it sure as hell is not how I raised mine.

I wouldn't mind if you were collectively diplomatic. You're not! You're living up to every stereotype of hysterical women that has ever existed!

Hilarymantelspencilsharpener · 06/10/2022 14:58

Passmethewhat for a very new poster who has claimed to know next to nothing about the issue, I don't know why you're posting such odd responses.

Passmethewhat · 06/10/2022 14:59

Organise yourselves if this means so much to you. Be prepared to have to fight. And I don't mean 'whinging'. I mean actually fighting.

You think that women can't outwit men? We do it all the time.

If you're arguing through courts and other idiotic crap with nothing but one neck on the line and the cheerleaders appearing via videolink, it's fucking embarrassing.

Knittingmonster · 06/10/2022 14:59

Passmethewhat · 06/10/2022 14:50

I've long believed in the stereotype of women being the brains and men being the brawn.

Reading these threads, I sometimes wonder whether there is a single brain actually functioning between you! This is why it's so damned frustrating to me to read and I don't actually care about this issue!

God almighty, but it's like a broken record. Trans. TRAs. Violence.
Stand up and be fucking counted then!

Errr didn’t you get upset at me earlier for my tone? Maybe you should take your own advice and go and find inner peace. You seem rather agitated dear. Have a nice cup of tea and a biscuit

I tried diplomacy. Didn't work. Frustration has gotten the better of me.
Perhaps I should go back to baking cakes?

This condescension is getting you absolutely nowhere with me.

You need to be clear about your fears, your logic and your reasoning.

You then need to have a mission statement.

You then need to act.

What I see, year on year here however, is women going round in circles doing nothing more than being bloody cheerleaders for the ones who do stand up and end up with their necks on the block! I'm sure it's reassuring to them to know that you all agree with she who might have her head on the block, but is it any help to her?

Am I supposed to be upset by that? In what universe do you think I actually want to ‘get anywhere with you’?

I certainly know more than most of you know.

I've seen it before. Someone gets in trouble at work. You provide a little bit of discreet moral support but you never stick your own neck out.

I'm really not sure writing terrible poetry is something I want to be doing to honest. 🤣

Awww go on. I think we should. A MN poetry competition to see who can beat that drivel.

Discovereads · 06/10/2022 15:07

Knittingmonster · 06/10/2022 14:34

But that is the difference @Discovereads, Elagabulous identified as a transwoman. Joan of Arc was not non binary. Neither was Elizabeth the first, but I have heard TRAs state she was trans because ‘she had the heart and stomach of a king’.

You asked for an example of a transwoman historical figure and I gave you a Roman Emperor. Of course there will be differences in how much we know (or think we know as recall this was written about Elagabalus rather conveniently after being fatally stabbed and tossed in the Tiber river. It could all be a smear campaign to make the assassins look good and just for knocking off their own Emperor which was an offence against man and Gods that requires extreme justification to not be immediately executed yourself. Romans did shit like that constantly).

We don’t know if Joan was nonbinary or not because there was no language to self-identify as such then in that culture time. And even if we knew for a fact that she was not, nothing wrong with doing a what if she were fictional play about her. She wasn’t a military leader….tons of plays, movies, books have been written portraying her as if she were. Great, gives modern day girls a heroine. Good feels and all that. Nothing wrong with having plays or portrayals showing her as possibly a nonbinary girl imho. Serves the same function.

Datun · 06/10/2022 15:11

Passmethewhat

i'm afraid you don't know what you're talking about.

The woman on FWR have contributed to at least five or six legal cases. Which have formed precedent on several different fronts.

They have joined Standing for Women, fair play for women, sex matters, the LGB alliance, transgender trend, and numerous other organisations who lobby directly to the government. They have helped to overturn the IOC recommendations on sport.

They have helped to take on the college of policing.

They have alerted Liz Truss, Suella
Braverman and Kemi Badenoch to the problem. Who are now talking to ministerial departments and the EHRC to clarify matters.

Hilary Cass has got the gender clinic at Tavistock shutdown. We have now got the charity commission to investigate mermaids.

You are the one banging on about women in history, to reasons known only to yourself, and say women need to sacrifice their rights in order to achieve inner peace.

You seem to have come across this issue this morning, and don't know anything about it.

Which wouldn't matter so much, but post after post fondly imagining that this hasn't occupied the women on FWR for the past seven years, to the detriment to many of their health, livelihoods and finances is rather irritating to say the least.

There are at least 12 million unique posters on mumsnet. It is the biggest gathering of women in history. And almost all those groups I mentioned started here.

Justine Roberts has been targeted relentlessly by advertisers and transactivists to get this site shutdown. She has suffered DDos attacks, and been swatted.

But hey, I guess she's just hysterical.

fallinover · 06/10/2022 15:12

I think GC women are having a pretty good year all things considered.
I'm not interested in behaving in the way that some who take a different stance to myself do.
Calm, measured, using legal means to ensure female rights works fine for me.

( although a small part of me may be tempted by a terrible poetry competition ;) )

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 06/10/2022 15:20

MrsRuggles · 06/10/2022 14:28

Is it? In my experience it is used by all sorts of people who are simply united in not hating/fearing transwomen.

Word definitions keep changing!

Hating=
-trying to keep trans people (especially trans children) safe from those who would experiment on their bodies and minds with untried drugs and surgery

-trying to protect women's safe spaces

These things seem more about love to me.

Well DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THEN! Jesus. Sometimes it's like you are all little girls whose elder brother pushed them over so you go crying and whinging to Mummy and Daddy and not doing a single thing to stand up for yourselves!

JK Rowling has tried to speak up. Look how well it went for her. Where the hell have you been these past few years?

You think you're clever?

Who's winning this fight?

As a bystander the trans lobby is. My dd is of a generation where she doesn't bat an eyelid at transgender. The people who seem to be most concerned are women over 40. Why? I can't begin to guess.

Avoiding reading cultish propaganda on here and living in the real world.

Passmethewhat · 06/10/2022 15:29

Is it genuinely fear of sexual assault that is fuelling this massive movement on MN?
