To want pasta bowls

So boring but why oh why do dinner sets come with cereal bowls and not pasta bowls?? Who tf cares if your cereal bowls match?
Any ideas where I can get a decent set with pasta bowls included and not break the bank?
All my dishes are mismatched and I'm tired of pretending it's on purpose when people come over but i cant afford much at the moment.
Am I the only one who would rather pasta bowls br included?

Wheresthebeach · 05/10/2022 18:29

Yep - love Pasta bowls...they are bigger than cereal bowls (or should be!).

kenadams86 · 05/10/2022 18:31

I got some nice ones from ikea x

Milesty1 · 05/10/2022 18:35

George Asda usually has matching pasta bowls but you have to buy them separately

Milesty1 · 05/10/2022 18:35

Ps I love pasta bowls! Use them more than plates

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 05/10/2022 18:39

H & M do deep stoneware plates that I use as pasta bowls. Love them

Love pasta bowls, so versatile ❤️

I have some lovely Denby bowls. Although most crockery is cheap and white. They triple club card points which you can use on sale stuff. I only paid postage and got £400 in the 70% off sale for £50 of club card vouchers. Really lovely pans too.

Adding to the list of uses, they are ideal for main course salads too.😁

kateandme · 05/10/2022 18:49

maddiemookins16mum · 05/10/2022 18:57

Dunelm, we have ones with yellow sausage dogs on.

pictish · 05/10/2022 19:10

We call them platey-bowls. Cringe I know but we have always used these instead of plates for most things and they never used to have a name. They are, of course, pasta bowls.
Current ones are from Habitat at Sainsbo. Mustard stoneware. Very robust and pleasing to eat out of. None of our crockery matches, too much gets broken in here to bother trying.

Pomtiddly · 05/10/2022 19:16

@Tomorrowisalatterday we use the little Pyrex dishes that were used for desserts in the 60s there are always loads in charity shops around here

Denby. They do lovely crockery. I started buying the pasta bowls but I have since got the plates and some serving platters. All FREE as I used my Tesco club card vouchers which tripled the value, just paid £5 for postage. No way would I have paid for these but if you have any club card vouchers defo worth a look.

Chimchimchiree · 05/10/2022 19:36

@pictish ours are ‘bowl plates’ since my DC named them such when teeny 😊
Wouldn’t be without them, OP - they’re so useful. Our latest ones are from the John Lewis’ basic range 👍🏻

I am another who loves pasta bowls. We all do in this house. I prefer them to plates for most meals. I had one set for years then managed to smash 3 of them. I think I got a pretty cheap set from Asda which are great.

What I find really difficult to find are small bowls - like for olive stones or to separate curries on your plate or a small amount of fruit or yoghurt - the cereal bowls that came with my denby set are huge

These are v small. 4 for £10.50 www.johnlewis.com/mason-cash-ceramic-prep-bowls-set-of-4-white-cornflour-blue/p5151836?sku=238600834&s_ppc=2dx92700071680099410&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gbraid=0AAAAAD2el1zy0CHZe0IpvJjxAsUIc9_Vk&gbraid=0AAAAAD2el1zy0CHZe0IpvJjxAsUIc9_Vk&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlvvr5N7J-gIVDdTtCh2KqgVNEAQYAiABEgI3FPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

habitat Crockery is really nice cheap and you get nectar

CottonSock · 05/10/2022 19:58

I have the Denby plain white ones. They can even go in the oven.

A580Hojas · 05/10/2022 19:59

We've got the M&S Tribeca ones. Use them more or less every day.

I like that idea!

Sainsbury's is great for crockery. I eat almost everything out of a pasta bowl! Plates are redundant in this house.
