To want pasta bowls

So boring but why oh why do dinner sets come with cereal bowls and not pasta bowls?? Who tf cares if your cereal bowls match?
Any ideas where I can get a decent set with pasta bowls included and not break the bank?
All my dishes are mismatched and I'm tired of pretending it's on purpose when people come over but i cant afford much at the moment.
Am I the only one who would rather pasta bowls br included?

Our dinner set is just plain white, from John Lewis. I never have the pasta bowls out at the same time as anything else, so I just got a white Denby set which look fine with them.

I love my pasta bowls. They get way more use than any of my other crockery.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 05/10/2022 17:06

Marks and spencer have loads of sets of 4 pasta bowls starting from about £8 a set.

mogtheexcellent · 05/10/2022 17:08

We usually buy supermarket boxes with plate, side and cereal bowl and then buy the matching pasta bowls which are sold singly.

MissSkate · 05/10/2022 17:09

Ours are white and were 4 for £8 from Morrisons, bargain! Used almost every day!

PS Had totally missed that Denby was on Tesco Clubcard.

I've got a load of vouchers that are about to expire...

I never knew that either - excited now lol!! Some of my 30+ year old plates need replacing. I love Denby! I collected it piece by piece, usually when it was on sale somewhere. I've lovely over-to-tableware, salt and pepper etc that they don't do any more. I've got Greenwich. I got my kitchen tiles to match... I love the pasta bowls - you need some in your life absolutely!!

Tesco have some nice, simple, white pasta bowls - I actually eat everything thing out of them as I like them so much!

OopsUpsideYerEad · 05/10/2022 17:12

Like these but in white...

I saw some nice ones in the M&S sale at the weekend. Really wish I had bought them now.

Obki · 05/10/2022 17:13

All my sets are mismatched too, in sets of fours.

I know I will be a grown up when I have 10 x place settings, including dinner plates, pasta bowls, cereal bowls and side plates.

But it needs to be a set I love.

SirenSays · 05/10/2022 17:13

I got some from Habitat in the sale. They look lovely but I need indestructible ones for my DH. He has already smashed one and chipped another.

Morrisons do nice ones, you buy individually but they are 4 for £10. Dinner and side blates, pasta bowls and cereal bowls. Grey glaze effect. That way if you smash them like I always seem do, you can get replacements easily.

I love my pasta bowls, but I’d still rather sets came with cereal bowls. I’m more likely to want them to match plates than I am to want pasta bowls to match plates, and pasta bowls can make nice sets in their own right.

DialSquare · 05/10/2022 17:17

I recently ordered these from H&M. They are single items so you can order as many as you like and pick and chose from the other matching items. Very reasonable too. I bought 10 of them plus the same amount of side plates, dinner plates, bowls and mugs. Came to about £135 for the lot,

I am another who sticks to plain white- have done for years.
Breakages are inevitable in use, plain white crockery is everywhere.
I like Ikea best- they have a very large selection of plain white crockery, including different bowls.

gogohmm · 05/10/2022 17:23

I just buy what I need, sets don't have the right quantity often

EwwSprouts · 05/10/2022 17:24

Love my pasta bowls. They don't match anything else but they do have an elephant on them. From M&S and were quite cheap.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 05/10/2022 17:24

I got mine from Jysk, they sell each item separately so I just made my own set

CulturePigeon · 05/10/2022 17:24

We have the Denby Studio pasta bowls which are beautiful and which we use for every possible meal!

But I looked them up online the other day and they've doubled in price over the last few years - so I can't really recommend them for that reason.

They really are lovely but I wouldn't/couldn't buy them at the current price.

Will look out on eBay etc for odd ones perhaps.

yikesanotherbooboo · 05/10/2022 17:26

We , too stick to plain white ; otherwise one would be buying new sets on a regular basis to make up for breakages.

Tarkan · 05/10/2022 17:26

It honestly took me about 3 years to find new pasta bowls I liked because I like the larger ones with a rim and for the longest time all I could find were small, round ones without any rim.

Denby to the rescue. The Everyday James Martin ones like a PP mentioned are perfect. Really nice weight, I haven't broken one yet which is a miracle for me, and the perfect size. Also great for stews, curries or other rice dishes too.

Trumpton · 05/10/2022 17:26

I bought my lovely rainbow pasta bowls in 1998 ( they were unusual then) when we had a dresser built to match the kitchen. I fell in love with them and never regretted them. 14 years later I dropped and broke one but contacted the original pottery who made me a replacement!
So they have given me 24 years of joy!

thenightsky · 05/10/2022 17:27

Another vote for the plain white Tesco ones. these
