For wanting to do a Ouija board for a laugh?

Next year DH and I are staying in a castle thought to be the most haunted in Britain. DH says he doesn’t believe in stuff like that, I’m on the fence really but more towards not believing. I think the most likely scenario if ghosts ARE real is that they’re historical residue and not intelligent entities. But even that is a stretch.

So, I’d like to do a ouija board when we’re there for a laugh. The castle is in the middle of nowhere so there isn’t much else to do on an evening other than drink (which I don’t do) and watch Netflix!

DH is point blank refusing saying he isn’t messing about with stuff like that. But he’s a non believer??! So what’s the harm?

If he doesn’t believe in it, am I being unreasonable to ask him to do it?

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

No it’s ok, I’d skipped a lot of the thread so took your comment out of context

To be fair, I don't blame you.

Hope for evil spirits coming out of the Ouija board. That's probably more fun!

😂😂 I suppose it’s just wanting to do something a bit silly and childish - I think most people long for their youth don’t they. In my head I imagine us sitting there all excited/freaked out having a conversation with a 13th century soldier … in reality we’d probably mess with it for 5 minutes, get bored and put Netflix back on 😂

Why are the spirits always evil? Weren't they just normal people when they died?
It would be nice to hear the stories of people who did Ouija and then the spirits made them a cup of tea, tidied their bedroom or even just straightened that painting for once rather than all this tedious evil nonsense.

Why do you feel the need to be so argumentative? Let people enjoy things for Christ’s sake

I wasn't being argumentative.

I was taking the piss. There is a difference.

The nice ones are busy dusting clouds and polishing rainbows before sitting down to a nice cup of ambrosia and a bit of knitting while listening to "Book at Bedtime" on a celestial radio.

They can't be bothered with this stuff.

Leaving aside all the stuff about spirits and the supernatural, and whether these are real or not, your partner IS uncomfortable about doing a Ouija board, @EbbyEbs, so for that reason alone, you would be unreasonable to continue nagging him to take part with you.

I don’t know if I believe in the supernatural, ghosts, spirits (good or evil) etc - I certainly haven’t experienced anything I’d describe as supernatural myself. I still think I wouldn’t mess with a ouija board - I think they have a nasty reputation, and there are a lot of anecdotes about people becoming very scared and even traumatised after using them - whether that is evil spirits or the power of suggestion, I don’t know - but it is enough to put me off ouija boards.

Oh, ok. Well hopefully you feel good about yourself after that
