To think the later queuers are just going because of FOMO

I think those queuing this late into it are just there because they are part of the hysteria and just want to go for the sake of it. Sheep basically and it’s nothing to do with the queen.

Okay?

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 18/09/2022 21:37

Or they've been at work

nokidshere · 18/09/2022 21:37

Who cares why they are there? I don't get all this angst about queues and funerals, you do what you want to do and others do what they want to. Unless someone is dragging you there against you will it is of no consequence.

Yucca78 · 18/09/2022 21:38

I am going to miss the queue

ForfuckssakeEXHstopbeingatwat · 18/09/2022 21:39

Er, work commitments, needed to organise childcare, couldn't get the car for a few days.....do stop sneering. If it's not for you, fine. But I'm sick of all this superior bollocks about sheeple and halfwit "Joe public" from apparently superior, better informed posters who are way above any such "nonsense".🙄

Puppers · 18/09/2022 21:39

Righto

Womencanlift · 18/09/2022 21:41

Or maybe they would prefer to only queue for 7 hours rather than 11 hours + and couldn’t go on Wednesday/Thursday when the timings were more at that level

I did consider it tonight as was planning to go and see Tower Bridge being purple anyway but it was starting to rain so didn’t bother

PooWoo · 18/09/2022 21:42

Yanbu..it's obviously just the first 1000 or so who really, really loved the queen. You can spot the fake queuers because they usually haven't even bothered getting a little Paddington Bear or some other stuffed creature to show they are genuine.

inmyslippers · 18/09/2022 21:44

Queuing to walk past a box with a flag over is just bizarre all round

ForfuckssakeEXHstopbeingatwat · 18/09/2022 21:58

@inmyslippers do you feel the same about those who queued for similar times when the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior was first made available on 1920? That was people shuffling past a box with a flag on it too. The procedure followed to ensure that no-one could positively identify the body within was deliberately painstaking. It's highly unlikely any of the mourners knew the actual individual but filing past allowed them to express their grief and in some cases, less personally, respect.

Why is it so hard to understand that people choose to spend their time and effort in different ways and it may be the antithesis of what you'd do but that doesn't make it wrong, or them stupid.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/09/2022 22:01

55 people taken to hospital by ambulance today from the queue, what a bloody waste of resource

devildeepbluesea · 18/09/2022 22:02

See, this is where you and I differ OP. I don’t think about them at all.

luxxlisbon · 18/09/2022 22:02

The people going in the first days of the queue are no more likely to be doing it for the queen than the people going now. The only difference is they had no obligations on a Wednesday/ Thursday.

Freedomfighters · 18/09/2022 22:03

How would you know that?

Tootiredtoogiveatoss · 18/09/2022 22:04

My work colleague is queuing now …she is an absolutely lovely lady and worked a night shift until this am and then got the train…her family are from the Philippines.
I have so much respect for her doing this vigil..I sincerely hope she gets to pay her respects .X

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2022 22:05

Is the queue still on? i thought it was all done and dusted ready for tomorrow now?

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 18/09/2022 22:05

Pretty unpleasant and mean thread. Hmm What's it to you @Justkidding55 Bit jealous are you coz you didn't get to go?

You need to be a bit more open minded…each to their own!

BananaGrana · 18/09/2022 22:06

Apparently, it’s really fun doing the queue. It’s become like going up bloody Snowden or something. An achievable endurance test.

They are queuing for the funeral now. Wandered past the coffin, now queuing in tents.

Nameless3 · 18/09/2022 22:07

I think most went because of FOMO. I doubt many cared about old Queenie when she was alive.

Motorcycleemptyness · 18/09/2022 22:08

Anyone queuing for hours to do this is a halfwit, regardless of whether they went on Wednesday or are there now.

A woman went round 7 times, someone else took their mother’s ashes. They’re selling the bracelets on eBay for £70k, Phil and Holly queue jumped but David Beckham stood for 13 hours, there was a thread on mumsnet as to whether someone should go wearing their wedding dress (they weren’t getting married today). Pretty sure the news are just reporting on it because it’s a modern day freak show. Can’t wait until this is all over.

Noteverybodylives · 18/09/2022 22:11

And how do you feel about the ones who rushed straight out to be one of the first ones there?

Sounds like you’re just jealous of anyone in the queue.

JackieDaws · 18/09/2022 22:12

What hysteria? The only hysteria I see is on this website every day.

Ah. Funeral camping, and yet more queuing. To see some more of that coffin.
