To think the later queuers are just going because of FOMO

I think those queuing this late into it are just there because they are part of the hysteria and just want to go for the sake of it. Sheep basically and it’s nothing to do with the queen.

DappledThings · 18/09/2022 22:40

I think 90% of everyone who queued has done it out of FOMO not just those going now.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 18/09/2022 22:36

Someone said on a thread recently that this place is becoming worse than the shitshow that is Twitter for nastiness and I think they're right.

Hats off to all those who have queued, for whatever reason, it's not been an easy thing to undertake.

Agree. I think some of the people who spew their anti-Royal toxic bile on twitter are on here.

Absolute rubbish.

Absolute rubbish.

It's a perfectly valid reason. FOMO is a strong emotion!

Justkidding55 · 18/09/2022 22:44

yet look at all the other footage from earlier days not many crying at all! This just shows the hysteria it’s ridiculous. Yes we love the queen but it’s a bit much.

OP posts:
Justkidding55 · 18/09/2022 22:45

I agree ☝️ that’s why I think so many are doing it and I think tbh to pretend it’s anything but that at this stage is disrespectful to the queen

What's FOMO?

figmaofmyimagination · 18/09/2022 22:46

The word “queue” is starting to feel like the word lockdown… you’d used it a handful of times in your life and then suddenly it was the most used word in the English language.

lawandgin · 18/09/2022 22:46

@Justkidding55 I've had the live stream going for a lot of the time it's been on and I can tell you there have been plenty of people upset throughout. You clearly have nothing better to do than bitch about people doing something that in no way affects you. Get over yourself. 🙄

Puppers · 18/09/2022 22:46

By that token you could accuse anyone across the globe who ever attends any event of cultural/national/religious etc significance of “FOMO”. Wanting to witness and experience what is for most of us a once-in-a-lifetime event is not difficult to fathom and doesn’t make someone a sheep.

Genuine question… why?? I’ve had a couple of quick looks but hours and hours of it?

So true! 😂 still can’t spell it easily though 😉 I saw a post somewhere maybe twitter about there being a queue to join the queue to join the queue which was very funny. I do quite like the Britishness of it all- as we all love a queue 😂

I bet there isn’t a marmalade sandwich between them. Fakers. They don’t fool us. 🧸👸🥪🧸👸🥪🧸👸🥪🧸👸🥪

RedToothBrush · 18/09/2022 22:53

My friend has gone today. I had a long chat with her Friday night. Its definitely FOMO from what she said.

She's not a Royalist and she was in awe of the spectacle of it all.

Anyway, it just closed so too late for any more stragglers.

VillanellesCoat · 18/09/2022 22:54

There is no hysteria. Why do people keep trying to claim something that just isn’t true.
i can’t understand why people are getting their knickers in a twist about the coverage of a major historical event & how others choose to behave during this time.

Nameless3 · 18/09/2022 22:55

People wanted to be part of The Queue more than they wanted a few seconds looking at a coffin.

I can think of better ways to spend money and precious time off work.

lawandgin · 18/09/2022 22:57

@figmaofmyimagination I don't know really, guess it's just kind of stuck while I've been at home with 5mo DD! Firstly we were watching to see if there were many parents/babies to decide whether we could brave it (decided not to) and it's just been on ever since 🤷‍♀️ obviously I haven't been completely glued to the TV since 5pm on Wednesday 😂

Justkidding55 · 18/09/2022 22:59

@VillanellesCoat no hysteria!? Wall to wall coverage, and people bidding hundreds for wristbands they can get for free if they simply went there? Yes ebay took it down but people were actually bidding! People Apoplectic with rage at holly and Phil for not joining the queue and vowing to never watch itv again. Of course that’s hysteria.

What's FOMO?

Fear Of Missing Out.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 18/09/2022 23:00

I have found myself thinking this week, that when these threads pop up it can only be because the poster did really badly in history at school. Or had no interest in it? Surely, anyone with a good working knowledge of British history can understand why some people would want to be a part of it, to witness it in person, stories to pass down to their grandchildren and so on. Did the ops of these posts never have grandparents telling them stories about the war, about meeting royalty or the likes?

50 years from now some will he sat with their grandchildren on their knee recounting stories of how they attended the vigil of the countries longest reigning monarch, the people they met and the atmosphere… and some will say “lol was shit we stayed home and watched married at first sight it was brill”

That is a very good post. But it won't resonate with the posters who are desperate to mock and berate people for queueing to see the Queen/her coffin, because they get so much joy from being so mean and derogatory. Quite sad really isn't it? We should be pitying them really. Poor sad souls. Sad

PaddleBoardingMomma · 18/09/2022 23:03

Also the word hysteria just shits on women and was historically used to “explain” why women are emotional, or to silence their opinions by blaming their womb. So yeah… Less “hysteria” would be good 👀

Justleaveitblankthen · 18/09/2022 23:03

Yes I agree with you. The commentators buoyed everyone along days in advance..
Talk of 10 Mile queues, 48 hours when really they couldn't possibly have known. Good enough guess, but definitely got everyone at fever pitch.

It will be something to dine out on for years to come. Bit like folks who run the London Marathon just the once and witter on and on and on about it for the next twenty yearsSmile

There are some stories about your precious Royal family that do need to be told, yes.

They are not all good though and that's because I didn't do badly at history at school.
