Tradesperson inviting people into my home

1000 replies

IvyPlant · 17/09/2022 17:03

Currently got a tradesperson in to do a job. They quoted me a day rate of 8 days work (which I think will take less time than that, but they're the expert...)

Anyway, that's not my AIBU. I checked my security footage this week and noticed a woman popped round to my house when I was out and tradesperson was working alone in my house. I can only see her walk past my front door to the back garden gate, she knocks and then the feed ends. She's seen leaving 4 hours later. The next day, same thing, except 3 hours.

At present the tradesperson gets here for about 8am and has already stopped working by 3pm. So that's 7 hours of work, fair enough, but 4 (and 3) of them an unknown woman here is (it's not his wife, I did a little social media digging and it's not her).

AIBU if I question him about it next week? He still has 4 days left to finish the job next week and I don't l like the fact there's an unknown and univited person in my house when I'm not there, plus, how much work can he really be doing if his "mate" is there for 4 hours.

The whole blanket and pillows is so obvious- they are using them as a makeshift ‘bed’ to shag on!!! 😳

IvyPlant · 17/09/2022 22:47

Yes, sadly the update will have to be Tuesday evening. I'll need to go through the footage from the memory card when I get home!

Save me some popcorn.

Honestly, I just wanted my electrics sorted. (That's what she said.)

Maybe she’s his probation officer and she’s making sure he’s staying away from crime. They do have tall willowy blonde probation officers with nose piercings…

Just saw this. I mean, maybe? He did balk a little when I told him I was an ex copper.

I'm baffled as to why any self respecting woman would have sex with a married man in someone's outbuilding after being given a dodgy van pillow and blanket and escorted past a camera like an escaped criminal. 😂

Aquamarine1029 · 17/09/2022 22:52

She could be a sex worker.

Maybe he offered to rewire her house for free?

Honestly, I have no idea.

allboysherebutme · 17/09/2022 23:01

He's having an affair Id say. X

Hotpinkangel19 · 17/09/2022 23:06

I'd be fuming!!!! How rude! Looking forward to the update on Tuesday.

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 17/09/2022 23:06

I'd let him finish the job then request he gives a good discount or you'll report him with video evidence to trading standards.

Fandangoes · 17/09/2022 23:08

Omg I can’t wait for the update!

walspoy · 17/09/2022 23:08

😳

WonderWoop · 17/09/2022 23:11

Shamelessly place-marking as need to know how this ends. Good luck OP

Sunnidaze · 17/09/2022 23:11

Shameless place marking. Also, the pillow and blanket Confused

marvellousmaple · 17/09/2022 23:12

Van pillow 😂

allboysherebutme · 17/09/2022 23:12

Can't wait until Tuesday for updates. X

MolkosTeenageAngst · 17/09/2022 23:13

Definitely suspicious. I mean it’s possible she’s just a friend or family member popping over to hang out and keep him company but the blanket and pillow seem odd in that case. In your shoes I would definitely be either setting up secret spy cameras or making plans to sneak back home when you know she’ll be there and catch them in the act!

I would then wait until the work is done and your key back and complain to the company, presumably you’re paying him for all that time he has her over?

Snazzysausage · 17/09/2022 23:17

Good lord!
I've got an electrician in the family - I must ask him if the latest regulations update insist on all sparkys having a minimum of one pillow and one fluffy throw for each contracted job. Can't wait for tuesday's shenanigans!

IvyPlant · 17/09/2022 23:18

He works for himself... It's his own company, there's no one to complain to (except his wife maybe)

I'm going to head to bed now guys. You've definitely cheered me up. I was really angry earlier but now I've made the rational decision to install some spy cameras in my own home, whilst scanning through days worth of motion alerts and a glass of wine... I'm fine!

At the very least, in the off chance he's innocent, I have £100 quid worth of spy cameras I can gift to another mumsnet user who is in the process of getting their ducks in a row 🤣👀

Judt marking my place so I don't miss out. What with this thread and Bake Off Tuesday's shaping up to be a canny day 😁

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/09/2022 23:24

Well least using their own shag pillow and blanket /duvet

and not in your bed

asking when wilL you be back is very suss

NCFT0922 · 17/09/2022 23:25

I reckon you should tell the tradesmen and tell him you’ll tell his wife if he doesn’t do the job for free. I would be fuming at someone random having sex in my house so the saving may go some way to softening the blow. You could probably tell his wife after too so she knows what a scumbag she’s married to.
