Or will you be doing something else? Perhaps working or just not watch the funeral?

Republican here. Will totally watch. Can’t tear myself away. Same reason I watched The Princes wed. History, innit?

Elfandshafty · 13/09/2022 20:04

YABU

I got better things to do with my free day off

BamBamBilla · 13/09/2022 20:05

I'm washing my hair.

Squidlydoo · 13/09/2022 20:06

I’m not sure I can face a full day of coverage and feel the event is likely going to be very sombre. I’m hoping there will be some highlights or we can have it on in the background. With young children, I’m not sure I’ll get a chance to watch it properly abyway

ImperfectAlf · 13/09/2022 20:06

Also not a monarchist but I will be glued. Glued, I tell you!

We'll never see the like again.

ParkheadParadise · 13/09/2022 20:06

I will be in the hospital having a OP.
I wouldn't watch the funeral if you paid me.

gogohmm · 13/09/2022 20:06

Yes, unless I'm working. Still waiting on whether we are opening

Hellocatshome · 13/09/2022 20:06

I will be watching.

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2022 20:07

I can't watch it live as I will be at work (not in UK, but I am British). I will record it and watch it when I get home.

GiantTortoise · 13/09/2022 20:07

I'm not that bothered by the royal family and I won't watch all the extra coverage before and after, but I will watch the funeral itself. I'll probably make my DC watch too. It's a historic event.

LemonMuffins · 13/09/2022 20:07

I want to but I'm overseas, so will be working. Will have to rewatch when I get home from the office.

ImperfectAlf · 13/09/2022 20:07

@W0tnow

History, innit?

Spot on!

OurChristmasMiracle · 13/09/2022 20:08

I’m due to see my consultant at 10:15 on Monday so if that’s going ahead I will be at the hospital

Squidthing · 13/09/2022 20:08

I will do my best to catch some of it on telly but no guarantees with a 4 year old demanding attention.

OldTinHat · 13/09/2022 20:08

I'll be watching.

Lipsandlashes · 13/09/2022 20:09

Of course. It’s historical

Superbabe64 · 13/09/2022 20:09

Going to take advantage of the quiet roads and go for a cycle and think about the lovely lady whilst I'm on the road.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 13/09/2022 20:09

No, I will not watch. Not as any sort of political gesture, despite being completely and utterly opposed to hereditary monarchy, I realise whether I watch or not is completely irrelevant, I simply have no interest, I have far better and more constructive things to be doing, and if the commentary is as servile, crawling, and sycophantic as everything put out so far it will turn my stomach in any case.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 13/09/2022 20:09

I'll be on a plane, I'm going on holiday 😁

Oysterbabe · 13/09/2022 20:11

I'll absolutely be watching, it's going to be fascinating. Worth it for the guest list alone.

My 4 year old is so interested, hasn't stopped talking about it. He watched her coffin travelling through Scotland for an hour at the weekend.

CaptainBarbosa · 13/09/2022 20:11

Yes I will, I will go to my grandmother's house to watch it. It will be me, my mum, my mother and my 8 year old son.

4 generations witnessing a historic event together.

My grandmother will also feed us 🤣 which is always a bonus.

ivykaty44 · 13/09/2022 20:11

I’m abroad & I doubt I’ll watch the funeral as no tv, though there seems to be a lot of coverage in the news each day - I’ve been in cafes and bars with TVs so have seen coverage ( though not in English)

Definitely. Not in UK so I'll be working but will have the laptop on the sofa with the tv on. I do love all the pomp and music.

A few years ago I was off sick one day and the bbc was replaying Churchills funeral for some reason and I watched the whole thing. He got to go down the Thames on a boat spa I feel like the Queen is being shortchanged a bit.

MoistBandana · 13/09/2022 20:12

I'm indifferent about the Royals as an institution really.
If there was a vote tomorrow to abolish them etc, I'd likely not vote either way.

It's a bit weird though I suppose but to me, the Queen, she was a hell of a woman and I have nought but respect for her. So I'll watch on TV and I have no doubt I'll miss seeing her pop up on the news doing some random meeting or giving some speech or saying more with her hat than she ever would out loud.

Twawmyarse · 13/09/2022 20:12

No - I'm not anti royal but I'm just not interested - I never watched any of the royal weddings either. I feel ambivalent towards it, although I thought she was a very good queen. I just find all the pomp and droning commentary mind numbingly boring!
