Yes, sofas and bed (only for a quick cuddle, then they are sent to their beds for the night)
We have a teenage golden retriever and he also gets on the dining room table 🤷‍♀️

littlepeas · 10/09/2022 22:19

No.

They are big, hairy, slobbery, sometimes smelly, etc - they get wet and muddy in the winter. They are loved and we very often sit on the floor with them, but they are absolutely not allowed on the sofas or beds.

WhatIsThisMad · 10/09/2022 22:19

No because you end up posting "what is this smell???" On Mumsnet

arthurfowlermood · 10/09/2022 22:20

Absolutely, sofa all the time, bed for cuddles but then to his own bed in another room for the night.

Elphame · 10/09/2022 22:20

Yes - but we use throws

DramaAlpaca · 10/09/2022 22:22

Yes. I currently have a sleeping spaniel snuggled up next to me on the sofa.

bagelsandcheese · 10/09/2022 22:22

Yes. my dog loves lying on the sofa. She has her own cuddly sofa she sits in when we're busy. otherwise she's curled up on a sofa with us. Also allowed on the bed and sleeps under the bed at night.

Hauntedmaison · 10/09/2022 22:23

My ddog has just pretended he needed to pee and when dh go up to let him out he stole his spot on the sofa 😂
sofa =. Yes
bed = no, they have their own bed in our room though

Terfydactyl · 10/09/2022 22:24

Yes but we use throws and have a leather sofa.
And we towel them off when they are wet and regularly change the throws.

Autumn101 · 10/09/2022 22:26

No to beds and sofa - they’re for the cat! DC lie on the floor with him so he gets plenty of cuddles and I have an armchair in the kitchen that he will come and sit on my lap if I sit down. He’s not a particularly cuddly dog though, as long as he can see me he’s happy

Patienceisntvirtuous · 10/09/2022 22:26

Yes, with throws. She knows not to get on the sofa at other people's houses.

meateatingveggie · 10/09/2022 22:28

Yes. I am forever washing cushions and throws but she loves a cuddle and who am I to refuse.

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 22:28

My little Jack Russell is snuggled up next to me n the sofa right now.

liveforsummer · 10/09/2022 22:29

Mine is under the duvet snuggled at my legs as I type. If I was on the sofa she likely be on my lap. She doesn't even have her own bed anymore as it was taking up space and never used. If she was a Great Dane it might be different but as she's a 6 kilo jrt I'm ok with it

Creamcakesaplenty · 10/09/2022 22:29

She knows she’s allowed on the leather sofa but not the fabric one. No to the bed but only because husband is strict on that one.

illiterato · 10/09/2022 22:29

Nope and don’t go upstairs either.

Boujisboo · 10/09/2022 22:30

The reason I ask is as I have a 2 year old
dog and a 16 week old. Always enjoyed cuddles on sofa with my dog he loves to lay and sleep there. My little puppy on the other hand decides that’s the place he wants to pee!
aibu to allow one on sofa and the other not? Seems unfair and inconsistent but for my 2 year old dog he’s never been a problem!

SenecaFallsRedux · 10/09/2022 22:30

Yes, but she's a corgi. They are bossy dogs so I just let her do what she wants.

TooHotToTangoToo · 10/09/2022 22:30

Yes, use throws that get washed at least once a week

1stTimeMama · 10/09/2022 22:34

No, I hate it, but my daughter opens the gate in the night for her to come up and I usually then find her in the sofa the next morning. I hate the fur, the slobber patches, the dog smell. I'd be livid if I found her on my bed, but again, I know she sneaks on to one my sons beds and he doesn't seem to mind too much.

OhMerde · 10/09/2022 22:34

No. Its his greatest wish but he stinks and sheds hair like mad and is slobbery.

happygertie · 10/09/2022 22:34

Absolutely, their house too. I would be upset if my dog couldn't cuddle up on sofa with me!

Darbs76 · 10/09/2022 22:35

My dog is currently curled up next to me on the bed. Wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s nowhere he’s not allowed

CoolerThanIceCream · 10/09/2022 22:35

No, dogs paws are not clean, for a start.

Plus, she’s a chocolate Labrador - so she sheds like no tomorrow, and when choc labs’ fur comes off, it’s not brown, it’s grey.

Just no.

Crucible · 10/09/2022 22:37

Yes. They are sentient beings, members of my family, not rugs.
