Yes I have throws all over the sofa because he sheds terribly, he's not allowed on the bed when I've put clean linen on but generally is 3 or so days later. When he does go on the bed I vacuum the bed and quilt daily

Vegay · 11/09/2022 20:23

Thanks @StoppinBy 😁

Trulyweird1 · 11/09/2022 20:40

Yes, but trained to wait for invitation and for their throw to cover wherever it is they want to be ( anywhere other than table as far as I am concerned). But, we wipe feet at the door, and bums after a poop, and throws towels etc are regularly washed.
I started with great intentions ( floor only, not upstairs, never in bedrooms) but they just melt my heart. And they are pretty well mannered.

Sallyingon · 11/09/2022 20:53

No,.used to and he wrecked.the leather sofa with his paws..we did up the living room a year ago with new sofas and he accepted straight away that he is not allowed up. He sits on the floor and leans into us now. I think he quite likes it. He does occasionally hop up onto the bed with me if we are having a slow morning but it's not every day. On a night he sleeps upstairs in his bed on the landing. He is a noisy sleeper and he wanders about so attempts to have him in with us and have always ended badly

Def not.

Omg
I think I have your dogs twin

LisaD1 · 11/09/2022 20:57

On the sofa yes and we always have a throw on them. The bed is a no from me, it’s the one room in the house that is just for me and DH. Our teenager sometimes lets the little dog on hers, our older/larger dog never even ventures up the stairs, she’s not interested at all.

RincewindsHat · 11/09/2022 21:01

Yes, but I have dog blankets and throws that I wash weekly, and lint roller them to remove as much hair as possible in between washes. I wouldn't let them up without throws tbh.

PalePurplePumpkin · 11/09/2022 21:02

Yes, with throws.

XmasElf10 · 11/09/2022 21:04

Yes he lounges on the sofa and the beds at will. As a puppy he was banned from
DDs room due to his chewing but he’s fine now. When toilet training he was restricted to wherever I was in the house, watched like a hawk and taken out very frequently to pee (or try). He was fully house trained by 4 months and I didn’t worry about where he went eventually but for a long time he wasn’t allowed upstairs without me just in case!

waffless · 11/09/2022 21:11

Yes, my dog does not shed hair, smells or destroy things.

Someone get this poor dog a sofa 🤣

CFLandlordStory · 11/09/2022 21:25

On the sofas, yes. I have washable waterproof covers on though and take them off when guests are coming round.
They aren't allowed in the bedroom or upstairs where there is carpet though.

XenoBitch · 11/09/2022 21:26

My dog is family, so she is allowed everywhere. On the sofa, and in my bed.

Burnamer · 11/09/2022 21:29

ddog is currently snoring on the sofa. I am sat on a stool. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Notplayingball · 11/09/2022 21:31

No. 62kgs of dog on a sofa - no.

She stays on the floor.

Vegay · 11/09/2022 21:44

@Notplayingball I bet you are glad she doesn't protest to that arrangement 😅

Licotire · 11/09/2022 21:47

No, not allowed on the furniture or in the kitchen or bedroom at all, they shed loads and they're filthy a lot, I'd rather keep the sofa and kitchen/bedroom free from that.

Notplayingball · 11/09/2022 21:50

Vegay · 11/09/2022 21:44

😂 oh she knows. She wouldn't have the energy to jump up and down anyway 😂

Vegay · 11/09/2022 21:56

@Notplayingball what breed is she? Some form of mastiff? We rescued a male lab who was 53kg. His previous owner loved him but due to ill health, couldn't walk him. We got him down to 40kg quite quickly. 63kg is a big dog. I'd love that 63kg snuggled up to me 😁

Vegay · 11/09/2022 21:57

Newfoundland?

Vegay · 11/09/2022 22:00

*62kg

Craftybodger · 11/09/2022 22:10

Yes to furniture and laps. Beds no, that’s the cat’s territory.

Vetoncall · 11/09/2022 22:30

We have 6 Working Cockers, very big sofas and a superking bed. They have free access to the house and can sleep wherever they want - wherever I am is invariably where you'll find all 6 of them 😄

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 11/09/2022 22:47

Two border collies who are allowed on the sofa only when we go up to bed, during the day they have their own (v.expensive & extremely comfortable beds)

They are never allowed upstairs though or on beds.

WeeWillyWinkie9 · 11/09/2022 22:48

Mine go on the sofa all the time and sleep in my bed under the covers to keep them warm.
