The Ukrainian First Lady has made a statement addressing the UK telling us while we are counting our pennies they are also counting their casualties.
Aibu to feel selfish moaning about my lifestyle reductions?

We’ll all have a moan and a grumble - and then we’ll remember why it’s happening.

generally the British aren’t cunts and we’ll always side with the underdog

aside the 2 cunts I’ve seen on this site today who said they don’t care they just want their cheap shit

Scianel · 03/09/2022 16:18

I mean a thank you might not go amiss instead?

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 16:19

I was wondering why she addressed the UK directly.
Hope she hasn't been on Mumsnet in the last few days!

Rich coming from her with her publicity tours and Vogue spreads

AbsentinSpring · 03/09/2022 16:20

The First Lady and President posed for Vogue whilst her people were starving, dying, fighting and being raped.

AbsentinSpring · 03/09/2022 16:24

Quick Google doesn't show up statement. Can you post a link?

sst1234 · 03/09/2022 16:25

Who is she and what’s her official position? She’s not elected by anyone. It always baffles me why partners of elected politicians want to celebrities and lecture the rest of us.

It’s like they think they were voted in as patronisers in chief. Marrying an elected politician does not make you wise, an achiever or fit to finger wag or moralise over the rest of us.

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 16:28

I've just heard it on the BBC News

Why she addressed uk... wasn't Boris bumbling around there a few days ago? I can imagine him telling ukrainians that things are hard back in UK too...

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 16:31

It's the top story on BBC news website. It's actually an interview speaking to the people of the UK. We are definitely being singled out.

I saw that, and music admit it felt grating, and think she might regret talking down to her allies like that. Though will admit this is my instant reaction,so I might reconsider how annoying this is.

Must admit

Likely as we have a new incoming Prime Minister, it's a message asking for continued help.

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 16:35

The cynic in me says our own government has set this up to shut up the whinging peasants.

OP posts:
PyjamaFan · 03/09/2022 16:36

I wonder how Boris persuaded herto do that.

TheNinny · 03/09/2022 16:39

It’s not ‘lifestyle reductions’ for many here though. Well, it is if you consider going into debt and 0 disposable income a reduction. That’s what many people are facing. Yes maybe not as bad as being invaded but still difficult circumstances and it’s not unreasonable to ‘moan’ about this. I think it comes across as condescending tbh. It’s not a case of cutting back and being ok. If no help is given soon many will need to move/close down businesses etc, major life events due to their energy bill which wasn’t a problem a year ago.

MissPankhurst · 03/09/2022 16:40

I think it sounded very "so what"!
Also, it's not pennies most of us will be paying more of, it's fucking hundreds of pounds. Still, I don't suppose she gives a shit sitting on her gold chair dolled up to the nines and pouting in Vogue.
Not one word of thanks or appreciation. It might come back to bite her on her perfectly perfumed arse.

Tierne · 03/09/2022 16:41

Seems like we have a Marie Antoinette for our times

Apl · 03/09/2022 16:43

Well, she’s had a crappy year and is probably a bit stressed. She’s trying to create headlines to raise awareness to keep weapons flowing to her dying friends and family.

I feel like maybe we don’t nitpick, eh.

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 16:44

Yes it's actually making me bloody angry. At no point does she utter a thankyou.
I need to go out I think 😡

This is v v good point

Scianel · 03/09/2022 16:45

No I will nitpick, I think.

People in the UK will die this winter, the poorest and most vulnerable. It's an incredibly dismissive statement to make to a nation that has helped a great deal already.

Apl · 03/09/2022 16:46

Can totally imagine Boris saying to Zelensky “no one appreciates me, everyone is saying Boris broke britain, would you mind getting your lovely wife to tell everyone not to be so moany.”

PyjamaFan · 03/09/2022 16:47

It's a ridiculous argument. If you follow her logic then no one is allowed to complain about anything ever.

She's been played and I think she will regret it.
