So. You're Putin. You rule a massive amount of people. You're ex KGB. You want to take over the world perhaps (or maybe just want to play!).
What is your next move now that the West is in crisis as you won't supply them with oil/gas?
Your people are dying but you've loads of people. You've invaded a non NATO country so you know they won't touch you.

Who would you hate the most if you were Putin?

What is your end-game? What do you want?

I’d double down, unless The West can find me a way to back down whilst still appearing to win. I’d be a bit worried if China wanted to distance itself from me. On balance the only thing that would stop me is a coup.
who do I hate? No one in particular, I want to leave a better legacy than Gorbachev and I want power

Do you think that the West will back down?

The stock market is crashing and there is considerable political unease all across the West. These foolish democrats are going to be victims of their people.

My fantasy is that he has a sudden attack of conscience, realises he's basically a low tech Dr Evil and gives himself one of those accidental falls his oil tycoons keep having.

You are Putin in this game. Get into his head.

I'd form closer ties with China.
Then join them in investing in East Africa.

Interesting that Biden went to visit the South African president yesterday as he was concerned about their non-support for the West.

Guiltycat · 03/09/2022 13:36

I think I know exactly what he is going to next. Hear me out…

Sharks. With lasers.
And demand from the West, one million dollars.
Mwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Genuis.

President Joe Biden will meet with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa this month, the White House announced Thursday, as the administration looks to draw African nations closer to the U.S. at a time when South Africa and many of its neighbors have staked out neutral ground on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

I watched a documentary about him a few months back. He has planned this since he was security for Gorbachev. He manipulated Gorbachev to back his presidency and then didn't even thank him. It was filmed live and if you watch you will see the expression on Gorbachevs face. He realised he had been played.
Putin is an absolute dictator. People are pawns not humans.
He has every trait of a true psychopath.

We all know that. Can we get into his head though? What does he want?

I thought that was Yeltsin. not Gorbachev.

Iadorerain · 03/09/2022 13:43

Power and a legacy,

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 13:44

Complete world wide power. He has been slighted by the rest of the world.
His ego cannot cope with that. He wants revenge.
I have no idea how he will do it as I don't know the thought processes of a psychopath.

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 13:45

Sorry I meant Yeltsin. My mistake.

Iadorerain · 03/09/2022 13:45

Chowbellow · 03/09/2022 13:24

The West will only respond with similar force to that used by putin. The West would love it all to stop

It's easy to be a psychopath. It's a board game.
Snakes and ladders. Or Chess.

You feel nothing so you don't really need revenge if you're a psychopath.

I'm just wondering what his next move is.
He has naval ships off the coast of Ireland. Ireland isn't on his radar so to speak, but London is.

Is the UK and Ireland and the EU going to cooperate?
Has he found the UK's Achilles heel?
Most of the frozen accounts are in London.

Irish waters are very much striking distance to London.

If I was Putin, I'd be hitting London.

OP posts:
Chowbellow · 03/09/2022 13:51

I'm pretty sure that he has spoken to the UK government. I'm pretty sure that our government has negotiated with him.

If you don't care, you can do all sorts of crazy things.

If I’m Putin I want the same respect (through fear) that Russia had back in the glory days of the Cold War.

I want retribution for Russia being left behind after WW2 given the massive part played in helping the allied forces win and recognition of the substantial loses of life and economy. I want financial remuneration.

I would recognise that the only only way to achieve this is to firstly cripple Europe then threaten the world with nuclear war.

About the most intelligent assessment of the situation that I've seen across multi-media sources and experts. He's aggrieved.

And btw that is the first time that I've heard that. I think that's what he wants. He feels like Russia has played its part, yet now they won't give credit for it. I actually think that this is it. That's his psyche!

I was Putin - I want Russia to again be a great world power. I am an KGB spy with psychopathic tendencies - other people aren't real to me, it's all about playing the game in order to win.

With regards to the west - divide and conquer. I will threaten nuclear conflict but ultimately want to avoid it - that is a game with no winner. Why attack the west directly when don't need to? I can inflict economic damage, sow seeds of suspicion and dissention between allies, distract and divide without incurring any losses.
