She just seems so nice and unaffected, especially considering the amazing life and attention she’s had. Never seem to hear a bad word about her and she still looks good!
I just basically want to be her and have had her life 🤣

There was a time when she was at festivals, etc and you would turn a page in a glossy magazine and see a stunning picture of her and I remember thinking that’s the best way to advertise the product to her target audience. We all know we can look bad but she showed you could look really rough one day and by the power of these amazing products look amazing when you needed to for work/etc.

Up until then, those kinds of models weren’t pictured looking rough as part of their allure was that they were other worldly, slightly better versions of a normal woman and products were hooked on that. I also remember thinking that at one point she seemed to be keeping the British fashion industry together - the image makers wanted a 90s version of Twiggy to sell so much on and Moss was perfect - the anti model - petite when others were tall and Amazonian, cheeky and goofy yet could still do sultry, living a ‘lifestyle’ that popular media could tap into. She was the face of Rommel wasn’t she? High st, affordable brand for young girls and had a young girl look rather than a woman’s face ( compared to say, Cindy Crawford).

Nolongerteaching · 01/09/2022 13:13

Rimmel not Rommel. Can’t see Moss marching into battle (unless next year’s fashion is guerilla chic🤣)

Hintofreality · 01/09/2022 13:14

I think her partying years are starting to catch up with her, she looks haggard now for her age.

Festoonlights · 01/09/2022 13:18

She’s had a nose job, Botox and lip fillers and who knows what other surgery. I wouldn’t call that hardly anything unless you are Katie Price!

@Dalaidramailama

if u don’t think Kate moss is attractive who do u think is?!

I have no opinion on Kate Moss as a person, but there are certainly lots of women who, IMO, are more physically attractive. In the same age range, Amy Adams, Kerry Washington, Isla Fisher, Rosario Dawson, Angelina Jolie...

@Hintofreality

lol she absolutely doesn’t

she looks amazing

Festoonlights · 01/09/2022 13:21

We are the same age and I look much younger tbh and so do most of my friends - and that’s genuinely without any enhancements. We are genuinely into wellness though, and haven’t taken drugs. I imagine we would be her target audience but none of us would consider her stuff for a minute when there is so much on the market already.

xippo · 01/09/2022 13:24

she looks normal for her age now, no gym honed body, which I admire her for. has recently had a facelift.

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/09/2022 13:25

Lol

all these people on here saying they look younger/better than kate moss

🤣

It’s not hard!! Your life experience does eventually show in your face

Look at Donatella Versace, she was a beautiful model once too. Most people are faring better than her to be fair. Same thing.

malificent7 · 01/09/2022 13:33

It's a shame she had to put up with Pete Doherty's addiction. I always thought they were toxic together like Amy Winehouse and Blake.

I'm 5 years older than her, and while I certainly wouldn't say I look 'better' than an ex-supermodel, I do think I look younger. And that's without any work. Not that looking 'young' is any sort of achievement.

Festoonlights · 01/09/2022 10:27

She was/is a drug addict that inspired anorexia in millions of young girls, apart from that she is great 🙄

'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'
Springs to my mind.

Very very well known about the cocaine addiction and anorexia in photographer/media circles. It's good if she's turned her life around though and is happy now.

She's from Croydon (the posh part?) which is not far from where I'm originally from. It's changed a bit over the years... Hmm

Redbone · 01/09/2022 13:42

It is well documented that she was a heavy drug user, who trashed several houses which she rented. She allowed her baby daughter to live in filth and squalor and, if she hadn’t been so famous, would have had her daughter taken away from her.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/09/2022 13:52

Festoonlights · 01/09/2022 11:18

I think it is the fact she was just a child when she was scouted, she was only 14 and she was very, very exploited, and the fact she looked years younger than her age due to her build tipped into almost paedo territory. It was actually obscene some of the photos of her and she was just so young. I have a beautiful, very skinny 14 year old and it makes me feel sick to think of those disgusting vultures doing that to my dd. Or anyone's child.

I hope today you would not see a half naked child pedalled out to the world in the same way.

I think it is very sad even today as a middle aged woman of assuming some maturity she is still sharing naked photos, as if that is all she is. Like Britney Spears, same mold.

My auntie was 'scouted' as a teenager by a male protegee (not saying much more as could be outing. This was also a few years ago, again not saying much more but maybe drugs weren't as prevalent as they were/are. I also don't know much about eating disorders apart from the fact that I'm sure my auntie didn't have any, she was naturally very slim.

My auntie got lots of jobs (TV ads, I think too short for catwalk) via who she knew, I think...but she was/is stunningly pretty. She's also from a similar background/area to Kate.

Most models unless they marry well/develop other business interests unless their parents/they insist on it, don't tend to study much/complete secondary education, and can be a bit naive and taken advantage of. You also tend to have a relatively short shelf life - I think my auntie worked up until she was 23/24 and then had kids (was already married but kept it quiet or people knew but she kept it quiet). Whether you regret your modelling life in later years I'm unsure, but I think my auntie loved the glamour and travelling and lifestyle but sadly her parents pushed her into it for fame and fortune much like Kate's probably did. That's appalling in my opinion.

CosmopolitanPlease · 01/09/2022 13:54

@Nolongerteaching Rommel 😂 'Get the Leipzig look!'

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/09/2022 13:58

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2022 11:54

On MN a grudge must held. No celebrity can ever be forgiven for anything at all. Especially ex drug addicts who have turned things around and got on with their lives.

Yes, that's great but @Festoonlights says paints a bit of a different story.

I know quite a few women of Kate's age who still party hard with illicit substances and because they're rich/mix in the right circles, it gets brushed under the carpet. Even if they're poor/mix in the wrong circles, it's excused a lot of the time.

MillyWithaY · 01/09/2022 14:13

She's a druggie isn't she, along with all her cronies? Therefore propping up and financing gang crime, sex trafficking etc. Not something that impresses me or that I'd like to emulate. She is pretty though, so there's that.

Nolongerteaching · 01/09/2022 14:13

I think if her daughter was at risk, SS would have stepped in regardless.

To be a public figure, with drug use all over the papers, and the mother of a young child would have made SS look negligent had something unfortunate happened. Esp after Sadie Frost/Jude Law’s child and the tablet they mistook for a sweet incident.

She also seems to have a good relationship with her daughter now which I think means she was a good mum at heart - prob the rest was a lot of publicity drama

Mabelstearooms · 01/09/2022 10:25

She's been in rehab once. In 1998. I love her, she seems very well grounded considering she was a supper model from the age of 14. Cracking sense of humour as well!

As a fat middle-aged woman I like the idea of being a 'supper model'.

Msloverlover · 01/09/2022 14:15

Oh I hated this interview. He came across as such a tosser.

Msloverlover · 01/09/2022 14:16

Sorry - meant to quote in reply. That was referring to the Pete Doherty interview in the Guardian

Nolongerteaching · 01/09/2022 14:16

@JesusChristThatsTastyQuorn

ha! Yes, I’m going to refer to myself as that from now on.

@CosmopolitanPlease

Could catch on🤣🤣🤣🤣

Times have changed. Women can and do party now.
