This interview with Lila Moss is quite revealing. No, her mother wasn't keen on her being a model - but she signed her up to the Kate Moss Agency (if I was Lila - and I'm very much not - I would want to distance myself and see if I could make it on my own).
To be frank, I think it's obvious that she couldn't. Even with all the professional hair, make up, designer outfits and so on, Lila looks like any other teenager walking down the street. Pretty enough, but nothing special. She's also not tall enough to be a professional model.
Lila was doing a Marc Jacobs campaign at age 15. That I really don't get. How could KM put her through the child-model phase that she herself went through? It brings to mind those men who had a miserable time at boarding school but nevertheless insist on sending their own sons there
At least not quite as bad as Cindy Crawford, who had Kaia modelling at the age of 10.
I suppose with their connections, Lila and Kaia won't be exploited in the same way other very young models might be. But a career where you're solely judged on your looks, and have people constantly saying how you're nowhere near as beautiful as your mum, would seem quite stressful for such young girls. Especially when their parents are rich and well connected enough to set them up in any career they might set their hearts to.
