To put opposite sex DC in same room?

Going away for a week and there’s a double bedroom and a twin room. I was going to have the double (on my own, nice room with balcony etc) and put DS 17 and DD 13 in the twin but I’ve been told I can’t do that it’s weird.
If they had the choice they’d have separate rooms because they annoy each other as siblings do but they’d both want the double bed but the obvious option is for me to share the twin with DD but I know she’ll wake me where as DS is a heavy sleeper and the other room is lovely and wasted on DS 😁
AIBU to put them together?

Sorry. They’re too old to share. You’re in with DD and ds gets the double.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 25/08/2022 23:06

If they prefer to be separate then I would not put them in together at that age.

I can see the appeal of a double bed to yourself though! 😀

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/08/2022 23:06

It is the obvious solution, share the twin with DD. Take ear plugs.

Flatfish123 · 25/08/2022 23:07

Of course there is no problem with siblings sharing! Even teenaged mix sex kids! I wouldn’t have given it 10 secs thought

oviraptor21 · 25/08/2022 23:07

Can you sleep in the double with DD as that's the nicer room. I've shared a double with my then 18 year old DD (she booked it!).

LizzieSiddal · 25/08/2022 23:08

No I wouldn’t put them in the same room simply because they’ll probably bicker so much they’ll spoil the holiday.

Is the

sofap · 25/08/2022 23:08

I wouldn't

BiFoldIsT · 25/08/2022 23:08

I shared a room with my older brother at those ages and beyond a few times when we went away. It wasn’t a big deal. We only slept in there. I did get annoyed with his snoring though!

RogueV · 25/08/2022 23:08

You share with DD

aiding · 25/08/2022 23:10

My DD (20) and DS (17) shared last week. Twin beds and DH and I next door in a double. Not sure what the issue is?

IKnowAPlace · 25/08/2022 23:11

I can't believe you're thinking about this! It's a holiday, not the normal arrangement. Kids in the twin. DS can sleep on the sofa if it's a problem.

I once paid for half of an airbnb with a friend and her toddler son - only to be told I was sharing the pokey twin with her because her kid needed the cot in the double room by themselves!

TiredzzZZ · 25/08/2022 23:11

Well I shared a room with my brother on a holiday once when I was 16 and he was 18. It was fine

We went camping together when I was 20 and he was 22 and we shared a smelly tent.

All was fine. Nothing weird about it!

Isausernameavailable · 25/08/2022 23:12

Just book another room so you all have one each

MargaretThursday · 25/08/2022 23:16

When we go on holiday we get the dc to discuss who shares.Almost always ends up as dd1 and ds sharing. That's their choice though.

SoftSheen · 25/08/2022 23:18

If there's space, move one of the single beds into the double room. You have the double, DD has the single in your room and DS has the single in the other room.

hangrylady · 25/08/2022 23:19

Not an issue. I wouldn't think twice about sharing a room with my brother. I'm 43 and he's 38!

Quincythequince · 25/08/2022 23:20

Bit too old to be bickering surely?

I'm just picturing the Laurel & Hardy scene as OP and DC manoeuvre the single bed down the hotel corridor to the other room - or maybe via the windows so as not to be spotted.

Stickmansmum · 25/08/2022 23:21

Totally not an issue.

My teenage brother and I used to bicker constantly. Drove our parents mad.

This!

Kids together, my teens (17 and 15) share still. Not an issue.

londonlass71 · 25/08/2022 23:25

I would do double with DD and DS can have the other room.

I was still bickering with my brother over whose side of the room was what when we were 13 and 23.

2pinkginsplease · 25/08/2022 23:27

Mine always share on holiday and will do this year too and they are 20 and 18. We only sleep in the apartment and are out most of the day. They have the twin and we have the double.
