To think it's odd that our first 'Period Dignity Officer' is a man?

So pretty much what the title says. The first Period Dignity Officer has been appointed and they are male. One one hand I'm thinking 'WTF' and the other I'm thinking this is a very good PR stint/opportunity to actively involve men in the conversation.

Administration of the programme is what I mean. If the role was that only and the team publicly acknowledged even at that level the optics weren’t good - which would have been the obvious thing to do - then perhaps there could have been less of a reaction. But the way this has been handled and the fact it seems to have been emphasised by all concerned that there is more to the role that mere organisation is utterly bewildering. Am sure from the first time this guy told someone he was applying for the job, the first response he received was “seriously?”.
