You know that photo of him 'showcasing products' to a woman and her daughter? Zoom in a bit. There are mooncups in that photo. And what looks like reusable sanitary towels.
FFS. I don't want a man lecturing a young girl about how she should use a mooncup because it's better for the planet when he has zero experience of trying to insert a mooncup into himself. Sanitary protection is hugely personal - there's no right or wrong answer as to what works best for you - and at different ages - and a man should not be influencing girls on this. Young girls should have access to whatever sanitary protection they feel comfy with.
From the job description:
"Provide support to the project team in identifying, developing and facilitating events and activities that engage our communities and young people, creating opportunities for learning, networking, and accessing free products, (with a particular focus on identifying barriers to access and reducing the stigma around menstruation and period products."
So yes, unlike what some posters have said, he will be talking to young girls about periods. He has zero right to do so.
I'm also baffled that the job description does not cite lived experience as an essential quality. However, it does ask for "self-aware with personal integrity." I'm not sure how any man accepting this role ticks that. Self-aware would be, 'this is an important role; I fully support its creation, but as I'm a man, I think you should give it to someone who isn't me.'
