To think Tattle is disgusting?

I was just searching for a lady I have followed on Instagram for some time (The Nurse Mum) who's little boy Jaxon sadly died. She's doing a ball event and I wanted to find out more info......anyway, after putting her name into Google I came across a website called Tattle with her name there. I've never seen this website before but having gone onto it my god it's awful! Such evil spouting from women about other people....I couldn't read on it was just so horrible and contrived.

How is something like that allowed to operate? Makes some of the 'harsh' comments on here look lovely 😕

Evil spouting??

Hmmmm....there's a few truths on there. Not everyone is as squeaky clean as you'd like to believe.... including 'nurse mum'

Crazykefir · 12/08/2022 09:11

It's gross. I heard about it from here and took a look, I won't do that again because that's how they make their money isn't it.

Nekomata · 12/08/2022 09:14

It’s insane BUT they see themselves as righteous truth-hunters saving the world from the lies spread by Insta-mums.

yonce · 12/08/2022 09:16

I don't really see an issue - they're quite big on banning people / posts that are totally inappropriate or dox others. I think sometimes it's useful to have somewhere to find out more than people in the public eye present, especially when they do some horrible things! It's just a gossip site, you'd find similar comments in group chats and text messages all over, so from that respect I don't think it's anything too out there. If you don't like it, definitely steer clear but I don't see a problem with it existing.

FlorettaB · 12/08/2022 09:17

It’s an appalling website. It’s pure vitriol. There are thousands of posts running through multiple threads on some people. Everything they’ve said, every photo of them, their clothes, their physical appearance and even their children are picked over obsessively. It’s like the girls who were the worst bullies at school formed a website.

LynneBenfield · 12/08/2022 09:17

Some of the comments take things too far but many ask genuine questions and point out exploitative flaws in influencer culture.

YABU to use MN to bitch about it though.

eldorado02 · 12/08/2022 09:17

Just out of interest, how do you know the posters are women?

UnboxedThoughts · 12/08/2022 09:18

I've found a tattle thread about an influential feminist psychologist, and the examination of her behaviour has opened my eyes a fair bit; she's very concerning and not many places allow such an open discussion about her actions.

BarmyBrunhilde · 12/08/2022 09:18

It's bullying plain and simple. The threads on the Duchess of Sussex, Sali Hughes and Jack Monroe are disgraceful.

Thesearmsofmine · 12/08/2022 09:18

There are some bizarre obsessive people on there but there are many more people who make valid points about the awful influencer culture.

Greenqueen40 · 12/08/2022 09:20

Maybe you should look into it a bit more before you slate them (nurse mum as well). There is an awful lot of truth on there that often comes out later on down the line.

MarshaBradyo · 12/08/2022 09:20

I don’t use it but I can see why it’s there considering influencers and their impact

With any of this stuff don’t engage with what you don’t like

juliainthedeepwater · 12/08/2022 09:21

It’s a cesspit corner of the internet. Indefensible and populated by toxic, lost people.

35965a · 12/08/2022 09:21

I don’t know about the person you’re referring to specifically and on some threads there are comments that are truly awful. However, on tattle they do raise some very good points about (usually) dubious influencers and their behaviour.

OhMerde · 12/08/2022 09:22

It's a cesspit of the worst of humanity but it's a good insight in to the true mind set of many, many people. With people like its ilk in the world, feminism and equality stand no chance. Sure, there's straight talking, truth-seekers on there but they are mainly nasty, obsessive, vicious bullies.

FlorettaB · 12/08/2022 09:22

I have no truck with Instagram but they go way beyond taking down the influencer culture. It’s very, very personal.

Skinnermarink · 12/08/2022 09:23

I think Mumsnet can be far worse on its toxicity towards women, actually. It’s happened to me and I see it happening to some poster or other pretty much every day.

Tattle might debate people in the public eye but they don’t rip other posters to shreds.

BiBoop · 12/08/2022 09:23

Its no worse than here.
Not by a long shot. There are certainly no airs & graces nor snobbery - which seem to be in abundance here.
But if you dont like Tattle, don't visit - it's that easy. I find them to be a good bunch, they certainly blow the bullshitters out of the water.

Hugasauras · 12/08/2022 09:23

It's a cesspit and I am always amazed how much people care about the lives of people they don't even know. The recent Lauren Goodger stuff was particularly horrendous. But they have cognitive dissonance about how spiteful they all are 🤷‍♀️

girlmom21 · 12/08/2022 09:24

Tattle might debate people in the public eye but they don’t rip other posters to shreds.

That's ok then. As long as people are only pricks to the famous people.

ManateeFair · 12/08/2022 09:25

It is an absolutely vile site full of absolute nut jobs spouting nasty, speculative and often libellous bullshit about people they have no obligation to follow.

It also pops up in Google results so users’ arguments that the people they’re defaming ‘Just don’t look at it’ isn’t really valid. A while back I was searching for something relating to a charity campaign and immediately got search results from that site claiming that someone involved was exploiting their dead relative, enjoying the attention and being paid loads of money by the charity (proven to be untrue). That is damaging (and devastatingly hurtful) for the person involved and harmful for the charity.

juneybean · 12/08/2022 09:27

YABU for assuming they're all women.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 12/08/2022 09:27

Greenqueen40 · 12/08/2022 09:20

This

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 09:29

They pro-actively troll don't they? All under the guise of 'we are exposing instagrammers who don't declare ads properly.'

I've read some quite frankly criminal hate speech over there when I've gone for a look. So I don't look now.

DeliaTookATumble · 12/08/2022 09:30

I agree with you OP. I think sometimes people must forget that they are talking about human beings with feelings. We all present a front to the world, whether we’re in the public eye or not. Imagine if these sites were just about ripping apart non-famous people? Tattle is just nastiness, framed as truth telling. It’s horrible.
