To think Tattle is disgusting?

I was just searching for a lady I have followed on Instagram for some time (The Nurse Mum) who's little boy Jaxon sadly died. She's doing a ball event and I wanted to find out more info......anyway, after putting her name into Google I came across a website called Tattle with her name there. I've never seen this website before but having gone onto it my god it's awful! Such evil spouting from women about other people....I couldn't read on it was just so horrible and contrived.

How is something like that allowed to operate? Makes some of the 'harsh' comments on here look lovely 😕

The Sali Hughes lot can be funny as fuck.

Deguster · 12/08/2022 09:47

Meh. Don’t read it if you don’t like it. (I don’t btw).

Butteryflakycrust83 · 12/08/2022 09:48

I think their general rule is 'If you are monetising your life on social media you are fair game to criticism.'

They dont allow you to go and troll and bully and leave these kind of comments on the peoples actual instagram accounts because thats not fair.

Its just gossiping, which the majority of people do whether you admit it or not.

FuzzyPenguin · 12/08/2022 09:49

I enjoy tattle, there may be a few extreme posts but no worse than here. Whatever you don’t check the kiwi farm forums you will get the vapours.

Irishgene · 12/08/2022 09:49

picklemewalnuts · 12/08/2022 09:32

I'd appreciate it more if it wasn't nasty. I mean, I think transparency is good. Unfortunately it's not just transparent it's vitriolic. If they modded away the vitriol I'd go there more.

This @picklemewalnuts totally agree

And I agree mumsnet doesn’t feel that friendly anymore, it’s definitely being exasperated by the current climate eg the cost of living crisis where the gap between those struggling and those who are comfortable is widening. Some really nasty threads recently with benefit-bashing, DLA-bashing, lack of sympathy for those financially struggling etc
Im increasingly seeing posts that look as though they belong in the Daily Mail comment section :(

Well that's not true at all. Have read many that actively promote going on to comment on Instagram and YouTube etc
And as I said before they even reach out to schools and workplaces

stealthninjamum · 12/08/2022 09:56

I spent a few weeks on there lurking and I learnt a lot about how Instagram / influencers work and about some of the pyramid schemes that manipulate / con people (mainly women). A lot of it is nasty and I am always surprised that people will obsessively post every single detail about someone they hate but I think on balance I benefited learning about these influencers.

Put · 12/08/2022 09:57

I think tattle crosses the line on occasions but has some good threads in grifter transparency. I also think it gets an insane amount of posts, newspaper articles, general hand wringing about "the hatred"/be kind compared to more male dominated forums like kiwi, reddit etc which have far far more insane, vile, abusive content.

crikeycrumbsblimey · 12/08/2022 09:58

It is horrific, and some of the people on there make it their full time obsession to hate people they don't even know. That is a fucked up way to live

Snowraingain · 12/08/2022 09:59

It is gross in places but I think it’s been good at exposing influencers who are exploiting people. I remember how Mother of Daughters and Father of daughters got away without saying things were ads and were deeply unpleasant to people who questioned them. So many are still up to very dodgy things on instagram.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/08/2022 10:00

Tattle is a forum like others which some MNers and ex MNers use. I did create an account and used it but now I rarely use it.

There are good and bad posters on Tattle just like on MN.

Mulhollandmagoo · 12/08/2022 10:00

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 09:29

They pro-actively troll don't they? All under the guise of 'we are exposing instagrammers who don't declare ads properly.'

I've read some quite frankly criminal hate speech over there when I've gone for a look. So I don't look now.

I agree, they're so convinced they're doing a good thing too.

I also struggle to believe the amount they trawl through these peoples social media feeds to find ammunition too, if the person riles you so much, unfollow them and don't look.

dworky · 12/08/2022 10:01

It is rampantly misogynist.

NigelDidIt · 12/08/2022 10:01

If you don't like it don't visit the site. Also by starting threads like this you're just increasing the traffic over at Tattle.

Spinzy · 12/08/2022 10:03

Yeah I've seen it and was pretty shocked by seeing grown adults talking that way. It wasn't just 'exposing influencer culture' but absolutely ripping another person to shreds. The tiny, ridiculous things they pick up on reminded me of mumsnet threads where some irrelevant detail or a specific word being used becomes the focus and an excuse to lay into the OP.

I particularly remember reading a thread about Lauren Goodger where even her appearance during pregnancy and the size of her bump were torn apart. Everything she did and said was ridiculed. They referred to her unborn child as a horse. When the sad news came out that her baby had died, quite a few posters seemed to feel like arseholes and realise they'd taken it too far. There was talk of hiding the thread but doing that would mean that they acknowledge they shouldn't have been saying those things. And if they shouldn't have been saying it about her, they shouldn't have been saying it about anyone. Some posters tried to brush it off with "well I don't like her as a person but this shouldn't happen to anybody - so sad, poor woman". The guilt was palpable through the screen. I hope they are ashamed of themselves.

Sparklingbrook · 12/08/2022 10:03

It's a bit of a strange place. There are some really odd people on there, obsessive and stalkery and you would have thought some of the slebs they are bitching and moaning about had hurt them personally.
But then you could say a lot of the internet is full of folk bitching and moaning about other other people that don't actually affect them.
That said there is apparently some good bits of Tattle but I don't want to look that badly as I would need to disable my adblocker.

PTWM and Ashley Cain

Enlightening

CuriousCatfish · 12/08/2022 10:04

They troll MN

So it's not a big leap to assume they troll Instagram.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/08/2022 10:05

BarmyBrunhilde · 12/08/2022 09:18

It's bullying plain and simple. The threads on the Duchess of Sussex, Sali Hughes and Jack Monroe are disgraceful.

I'd read a bit more into alleged bullying towards Sali Hughes tbh.

Thatswhyimacat · 12/08/2022 10:05

Meh, I find mumsnet is a LOT nastier than tattle.

Many influencers are complete wastes of space who exploit vulnerable young people to make themselves rich with very little effort. They are often paid huge amounts of money to post a picture of their own face and there is very little effective regulation of their industry. I think it's absolutely right to hold them to account and sometimes knock them down a peg. I find too many of them are quick to cry bullying or 'be kind' the moment someone isn't kissing their arse.

Terfydactyl · 12/08/2022 10:05

The thing that strikes me most is that so many ppl seem to be on these sites almost 24/7, many just looking for something too to offended about , and
start trolling the unfortunate poster. Don't any of them have jobs to go to? How do they have the time

You could say exactly the same about MN though.

I've not been on tattle, but I do watch a few people on kiwi farms and that can be brutal. I do believe that if you are putting yourself in the spotlight, you should take what comes with that.
I could not take the kind of comments the farms has about people, so I dont put myself in the way of them. Or tattle or reddit etc etc.

lickenchugget · 12/08/2022 10:05

Well, I don’t think influencing should be a job, a lot of the threads on tattle have been eye-opening. There is bitching but I’m not sure what people expect when they flaunt every detail of their lives/children/relationships/free stuff online.

Damnautocorrect · 12/08/2022 10:05

You’ve probably done a good job of sending new members over to it.

some of it makes me uncomfortable with the level of nastiness. However there’s a lot of truth in what they say.

Totally agree.
