To think Tattle is disgusting?

I was just searching for a lady I have followed on Instagram for some time (The Nurse Mum) who's little boy Jaxon sadly died. She's doing a ball event and I wanted to find out more info......anyway, after putting her name into Google I came across a website called Tattle with her name there. I've never seen this website before but having gone onto it my god it's awful! Such evil spouting from women about other people....I couldn't read on it was just so horrible and contrived.

How is something like that allowed to operate? Makes some of the 'harsh' comments on here look lovely 😕

If you think that's bad look up kiwi Farm 😧

Skinnermarink · 12/08/2022 09:32

Well, I quite enjoy the thread where they take the piss out of Mumsnet. Horses for courses.

picklemewalnuts · 12/08/2022 09:32

I'd appreciate it more if it wasn't nasty. I mean, I think transparency is good. Unfortunately it's not just transparent it's vitriolic. If they modded away the vitriol I'd go there more.

Just out of interest, how do you know the posters are women?

I don't think they are all women. I read about a recent news story recently on there after seeing it mentioned on here and people were open about being men on there. The press were presenting a very one sided rosy view of the story so it was interesting getting views from nurses etc on there.

With absolute sincerity, if you don’t see a problem with what tattle is and what it does to people (even (especially!) in the name of unearthing some dark unsavoury “truth” about people with a public platform), you need long term, intensive therapy.

I LOVE Kiwi Farms. It's insane. Again they tend to point out very uncomfortable truths about influencers and people exploiting their kids for profit (e.g. Lisa Pittaway...)

CuriousCatfish · 12/08/2022 09:35

Seems an odd way to spend your time, obsessing over celebrities and other people on the internet but I suppose every one needs a hobby.

FlorettaB · 12/08/2022 09:35

’Tattle might debate people in the public eye’

Being ‘in the public eye’ doesn’t make them less than human. It doesn’t make it acceptable to dissect them for entertainment.

If you get blasted on here, you can name change. There’s nothing that ties you as a person to your posting name.

Absolutely this. The cognitive dissonance with some people is incredible.

juliainthedeepwater · 12/08/2022 09:37

Also, sorry I’m on a rant here, the absolute HYPOCRISY of it - all these people spouting vitriol about the morality, behaviour and judgement of others, while behaving completely despicably themselves.. UGH.

Doesn’t erase anything about what was said on the thread though does it. Name changing doesn’t do a memory-wipe.

I've had a couple.of glances at it. Some pretty awful stuff. Most forums these days seem to be populated by trolls. Woe betide anyone disagreeing with them. I don't have twitter but do read the odd link to posts .
The thing that strikes me most is that so many ppl seem to be on these sites almost 24/7, many just looking for something too to offended about , and start trolling the unfortunate poster. Don't any of them have jobs to go to? How do they have the time?
Also, IMHO, If people are wondering why mental health problems have rocketed over the past few years, I would sat the answer lies in the small device that everyone is glued to 24/7.im glad I'm in my 60s and mainly avoided all this shit but I fear for my grandchildren

Leafy3 · 12/08/2022 09:39

I came across it almost accidentally too, some threads seem to be okish but others are just vile. Some people there use the excuse of disliking someone and thinking their deceitful to eviscerate every aspect of their lives, personality, looks, relationships, wardrobe...Those people go beyond satire and criticism to engage in nasty, spiteful bullying. I think you get a bit of mob mentality, the behaviour seems to become acceptable because they egg each other on.

I find it strange that people follow and know so much about influencers that they don't like when I'm online and find it easy to avoid them.

I think it's good to have sites that expose the smokes and mirrors used by social media influencers. Some of them are immoral and take money from people who shouldn't be giving it away and some of them sell substandard products at inflated prices which also needs exposing. Some use their kids to make money which is rarely in the interests of the the child or have huge child followings but use the fact that it's the internet to upload stuff that tv wouldn't allow. I am happy to see a digital reminder of the influencers who get away with exploitation of young fans too. If my kids followed Internet personalities accused of rape, I'd want to know.

pistachi0nuts · 12/08/2022 09:41

Absolutely no worse than here. On here, people get judged and ripped to shreds for asking innocent questions and seeking advice. This is a nasty place filled with nasty jealous people. Tattle does say that it is a gossip website to talk about those who choose to put every element of their lives out into the public eye to be consumed. If you don’t like it, don’t visit it. I think it’s pretty harmless tbh, it’s very niche.

Said it better than I did.

georgarina · 12/08/2022 09:43

It can be nasty and bullying

However, it can also bring to light negative truths about influencers, which is really important.

If sites like that didn’t exist, you would only see what they wanted you to see, which is worse.

There are some pretty vile "influencers" who need to be called out. Sali Hughes is well known for bullying people, but can't take it herself when she's called out for shady practises. If you don't like Tattle don't read it. I hate the Daily Mail so I never read it.

GirlInACountrySong · 12/08/2022 09:09

Evil spouting??

Hmmmm....there's a few truths on there. Not everyone is as squeaky clean as you'd like to believe.... including 'nurse mum'

I agree. Some of the comments on there are pretty mean but some of them are very true. Influencers lie a lot.

Irishgene · 12/08/2022 09:44

The bit I read were women, although of course there's men on there.

I'm shocked people take time to dig details on people in such detail.....maybe I'm just being very naive?! (yes I know influencers are all a front and that I'm sat looking at and posting on Mumsnet!)

I won't be engaging in it or looking at it again, posting such awful stuff about a child and his mother isn't my bag.

True 😂
mostly it’s just ridiculous but when I see really vicious pile ons when the OP is clearly in distress it’s actually disgusting and doing far more harm.

itsquietuptown · 12/08/2022 09:45

It’s a bit odd. I have looked at threads where I agree with the general criticism but they get obsessed and hung up on every minute detail, practically watch these people 24/7 to slag on every tiny thing they do.

willithappen · 12/08/2022 09:45

They literally set their icons as horrible pictures of people they are actively hating. They contact companies that people work with, schools, family etc
I have seen the smallest of things being twisted and hate campaigns come off the back of it

It's absolutely NOT okay. It's not a website to 'expose truths' - they sit and pick apart EVERYTHING the person in question does.

And the poster who says they don't turn on each other - that's a lie. You dare stand up for someone they are trolling and you are turned on completely.

Also just because someone is slightly famous it doesn't justify being able to tear into their lives like this.

Coughee · 12/08/2022 09:45

The idea of exposing or holding a mirror up to instagrammers is fine. But it goes way beyond that. Posters on there openly talk about 'hate following' people. Think about how fucked up that is. They go out of their way to look at the accounts of people they hate so they can then rant about it on tattle. That can't be healthy or good for you, spending large amounts of your leisure time obsessing about all the ways you hate someone
