To feel angry at Tory voters?

Dottodo · 02/08/2022 00:52

DF has always voted Tory. He’s very anti immigration and we will never see each other’s POV.
DHs friends are all Tory voters and hate being with them as they are all racist, xenophobic & misogynistic.
Other Tory voters I know through work or extended family members are also xenophobic and casually racist.
I’ve spoken to friends about this and they agree that the Tory voters they personally know are also racist and xenophobic.
Why is this?
Me and DH lived abroad and as we've lived as ‘foreigners’, we don’t share their views.

I suppose the 50 plus other studies on it are 'flawed' as well, and you just happened to have worked on them or done a counter study to know that?

Just my own amusement cockandball. I'm not here to win labour voters. I hate right wing people and their lack of moral character and dont give a shit if they know it.

How exactly do you know who right wing people are.

Are their signs over peoples heads or something?

To actively hate people you don't know, the person nextdoor, a work colleague, the cashier at the shops, must make it hard to function day to day.

SpaceGoatFarm · 02/08/2022 14:04

The idea that we all have to be nice and not say nasty things to the ruling classes and herds of self interested and then they might just give us a watered down centrist government that isnt record breakingly corrupt and incompetent and destroying our country provides a brilliant insight into the moronic mindset though

SpaceGoatFarm · 02/08/2022 14:06

Right wing people are people who state right wing beliefs, insanely enough.....

I have no idea what you have “lost” so how on earth can I answer that.

but I can think of nothing you have lost That could be the fault of the government so will need you to enlighten me

And since you state 'how on earth can I answer that' because you have no idea what I have lost, why did you take it upon yourself to castigate me for my lack of insight and ownership? You have absolutely no idea, so it's not your place to judge and sneer.

A wiser Govt would have sought a more compromised deal with the EU, so stay in Erasmus (as Boris promised) Single market and/or CU (as many pro brexit leaders said before the vote) i.e Norway or Switzerland.

Instead we have a hard very divisive brexit and one that may yet see NI leave the Union and all that that will bring.

The referendum paper never said what Brexit we were voting for....Hardline or EFTA.

Yes those voters in red wall seats are all ruling classes. 🙄

I mean saying nasty things to people you know nothing about is always going to get people to think your way.

Full stops and sentances help too.

It’s the absence of ownership

so very easy to blame the government for fact that you and people you love aren’t happy with their lot in life.

m when asked to pinpoint or even remotely indicate how the government is actually responsible - is brushed off

SpaceGoatFarm · 02/08/2022 14:09

Wonder why its called the red wall?

SpaceGoatFarm · 02/08/2022 14:10

And how does that lead to everything the Pp and her loved ones losing in life?

The irony ....

Midnightblack · 02/08/2022 14:20

I haven't brushed anything off. I've pointed out how ridiculous it is for you to wade in to tell me that I'm not taking ownership of various situations and how wrong it is for me to blame the government when, by your own admission, you have no idea what these are.
It's quite a leap to jump in and tell a complete stranger who they can or can't blame when you haven't even been told what the situations are. How do you know that I'm not a small business owner who's been stymied by the extra costs of red tape for exports? How do you know that I'm not part of the fishing industry that's been shafted? How do you know that I'm not part of the farming community that was praying for the NZ/Australia deals not to go through because they know they'll have a devastating impact? How do you know my child hasn't been kicked out of the European Youth Orchestra because of losing EU citizenship? How do you know that I wasn't kicked off an international research grant because Horizon can no longer be assured? You don't know any of these things, and yet you still feel qualified to comment on the lack of my ownership of the situation.
You also don't know whether I'm happy with my lot in life. As it happens I do consider myself to be very fortunate overall, but that doesn't mean that I and others haven't lost a lot that this government has taken.

All this hate. It must be exhausting. Just like the vitriol spat out by the hard-left at moderate Labour MPs, or at BBC journalists.

You seldom see conservatives (in the UK sense) talking about "hating" people. It's more "I disagree with what you say, but defend your right to say it".

Virtually everyone in the Houses of Parliament want the same thing for this country and the people in it. They want us to be happy, healthy and prosperous. They just disagree on how it's best achieved.

The ignorance! 'You'?! I wouldn't automatically presume that you align yourself with the anti semitic brigade in the labour party, so why do you believe that conservatives are a homogenous group of racists? Surely you have the ability to think with slightly more nuance?

You can hate us as much as you want, it doesn’t really matter.

You're like a child whose grown ups are doing what’s best for them even though they don’t like it and won’t see it for years to come, but when they finally do they’ll appreciate it and say thank you.

These “grown ups” have had 12 years. How long do we have to wait to see something we’ll appreciate?

The referendum paper never said what Brexit we were voting for....Hardline or EFTA.

Several voices (such as leave-backing Conservative MEP Daniel Hannan) called for such a compromise, on the basis that the result was fairly close and that we should be aiming to unite everyone.

What we got instead was Theresa "Brexit means Brexit" May. Someone who didn't actually believe in it, and instead let her time in the Home Office influence her to believe that it was all about immigration, not economic freedom. With a number of irreconcilable Remainers in Parliament and in the courts attempting to stop any attempt at leaving - hard or soft - who were just as culpable as Nigel Farage et al in ensuring that a hard Brexit happened. Compromise needed everyone to come together.

I'd be absolutely fine with EFTA. Out of the Customs Union, CAP, CFP, ECJ and most of the budget, but still in the Single Market with full participation in the four freedoms. Having one's cake and eating it.

Who are you directing that at? I haven't seen any hate directed at Ukrainians.

A certain former Labour leader gave a speech recently in which he predictably took the Russian side, but other than that old never-was-a-been pretty much everyone on all political sides are united in backing the Ukrainian efforts against their invader, and in offering sanctuary to those displaced by the conflict.

SpaceGoatFarm · 02/08/2022 14:50

Think you'll find I was referring to a particular poster who has spread pro russian shit on this site.

SpaceGoatFarm · 02/08/2022 14:52

The grown up effort has ruined our economy, brexit, the cost of living and thinks sending refugees to rwanda and Boris johnson/ dress up truss as leader is a grown up decision....
