To be annoyed with guys walking around town topless??

Whenever the sun comes out you're guaranteed to see a few guys wandering around topless. I'm not a prude, nor do I want to bodyshame anyone. I mean, wear as little as you like on the beach or pool. Just seems arrogant that they believe women or girls are impressed or that other guys are intimidated and jealous

Are they wanting to impress or intimidate though? Is that what they told you?

CalistoNoSolo · 13/07/2022 12:24

It's gross, no idea why they feel the need. No-one wants to see their revolting bodies.

mumto2teenagers · 13/07/2022 12:24

How do you know they believe women or girls are impressed or that other guys are intimidated and jealous. They could just be hot.

Testina · 13/07/2022 12:25

Weird interpretation.
You know when I put a sundress on, I’m not trying to impress men with my slim long legs, nor intimate women with them?

MoodyTwo · 13/07/2022 12:25

Catsaremad · 13/07/2022 12:26

Im not a massive fan and there is nothing worse then ending up standing too close to a hot sweaty half naked man in this heat!

However, I think its your assumption that they are trying to impress or intimidate. Its just as likely that we are in a heat weave and they want to take their top off.

MoodyTwo · 13/07/2022 12:25

They could just be hot?

They'd be cooler if they kept a shirt on to wick away the sweat.

It's horrible when they get on a bus or train, you just smell cooking flesh. Vile.

Womenandwomenfirst · 13/07/2022 12:28

It’s yuck.

I always remember the time when dsis felt something furry on her arm whilst browsing the magazines in WH Smith. She squealed when realising that it was a hairy chest 🤣

NancyJoan · 13/07/2022 12:28

I agree. It's not the beach, and I really don't think it's any cooler to be shirtless than to wear a light shirt.

You are wearing something. They are not (on their top halves, anyway).

Well, some of them are impressive as eye candy tbf. Nothing wrong with flaunting what you have. I’m happy to see a nice looking bloke with no shirt on in the summer. Have been known to slow down when going past roofers in the summer for example. So it doesn’t annoy me. I’d be more annoyed if anyone where to protest and tell men to cover up and be more modest.

Sillystripytail · 13/07/2022 12:34

The double standards of this annoys me every time I see a man walking around topless. Women would be asked to cover up if we did the same. The police would probably be called.

In fact, I follow someone on Instagram who did an underwear shoot in the street and the police were called. What's the difference?

they are probably doing it cos its hot you are overthinking it.

Leave people alone.

BlackberrySky · 13/07/2022 12:38

I agree that it's inappropriate for walking round town, but your assumption around the reason is very weird. Surely the main reason men remove their shirts is because they are hot? They probably couldn't care less what people think, which is why they do it in the first place.

Bumblebee413 · 13/07/2022 12:40

This makes me so angry. Mainly for the double standard. Women are simply not 'permitted/ allowed' to do the same. So we wear tops and we sweat and suck it up.

It mainly bothers me when guys do it when it clearly isn't that hot and they just want to show off their bodies. It just feels like an assumption that everyone will be impressed by their bodies when actually, It makes me feel uncomfortable and I'd rather they just wear a t shirt. I don't want to boost overinflated egos anymore Nd it bothers me that there is an assumption that people will enjoy looking at them. It's just so arrogant that I can't stomach it.

Aspergirl77 · 13/07/2022 12:53

It’s just horrible I hate it.

You can't call out a double standard and perpetuate a double standard.

Women, in general, quite rightly get annoyed when its assumed they are dressing for men, for attention or to impress them.

It is quite possible these men are also not dressing for attention or to impress

Sartre · 13/07/2022 12:55

It’s totally grim and it always seems to be guys who don’t work out so definitely don’t have bodies worth showing off… The middle aged guy across the road from us does it all of the time. He’s easily nearing 50 and is not attractive yet he does things like cleaning his car in his driveway for 3 hours shirtless like we all want to see his sweaty hairy moobs.

ComDummings · 13/07/2022 12:55

I don’t understand why they do it, bare skin in the sun gets hotter. Just keep a top on. I don’t care if they have the body of a God, I don’t want to see anyone’s nips while I’m minding my own business 🤮

Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 13/07/2022 12:55

@Bumblebee413 I dislike it for that reason to (ref double standards). Woman topless on the beach, or has a boob out to feed her baby, shock horror. Men, absolutely ok to prance around half naked whenever they like.

It strikes me as so arrogant and poor taste.

Bubblebubblebah · 13/07/2022 12:56

I agree. It's beach/park/pool, not city attire.

Glitterspy · 13/07/2022 12:57

It’s gross and super chavvy.

Maybe there are just hot or want to tan/don't want tan lines.

My dh did make me laugh once when he asked my mum if he could take his top off. He's very respectful and gentlemanly though.

drumandthebase · 13/07/2022 12:58

It annoys me so much too. Just put your fucking clothes on...nobody is impressed. There's no need

Bubblebubblebah · 13/07/2022 12:58

Have to add that I have not experienced this anywhere else from nonBrits. I don't understand why is it so done thing here
