To be annoyed with guys walking around town topless??

Whenever the sun comes out you're guaranteed to see a few guys wandering around topless. I'm not a prude, nor do I want to bodyshame anyone. I mean, wear as little as you like on the beach or pool. Just seems arrogant that they believe women or girls are impressed or that other guys are intimidated and jealous

YADNBU. I was at a carnival in the park on Saturday and one guy had his top off. Massive belly loads of kids around. It's so unnecessary and disgusting to look at. Even if he had a six pack and body like Tom Hardy I still wouldn't like it though. No one needs to see nipples that much. 😂

Harridance · 13/07/2022 13:32

Can't say it bothers me

GetThatHelmetOn · 13/07/2022 13:33

Removing your shirt while walking under the sun is the best way to feel the heat even more.

Have you noticed when on holiday it is always the men from cold countries who do this? It is not that they have discovered something that the locals haven’t...

PeppaPigIsAnnoying · 13/07/2022 13:33

The first men to take their tops off are always the one's with the most repulsive bodies

Stop flaunting your beer belly and shit tattoos

hangrylady · 13/07/2022 13:34

It depends if they're fit!

Then why comment on his belly?

Would it be OK if a man said that about a woman in a bikini?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/07/2022 13:39

@Hotinnit 😂 I'm not sure really. I think it's prob easier to look at it they're fit but it doesn't mean I want to see it then either. I feel like u caught me out there lol

How many kids is a "belly load"?

Mad dogs and Englishmen! I suspect it’s all about trying to get a tan, rather than keeping cool. Or (more kindly) maybe it’s some instinct to get as much vitamin D as poss while the sun is here.

Anyway, it’s far cooler and more sensible to cover up. In Australia and NZ you’re told to wear a t shirt and hat in the sun. I’m in Florida at the moment and have been wearing harem trousers, a kimono type cover up and a hat with a wide brim - would much rather protect my skin and have given up on ever having a tan again.

Two explanations for the difference that I would put ahead of yours are that (a) cultural rules are different in different countries and (b) people who live in hot countries are used to the temperature, it bothers them less.

I normally wear cotton T-shirts. Today I'm not. Not wearing any shirt is definitely cooler. (When I go to the shop I will put one on.)

More like burnt. They usually sport a cooked crafish colour

HumptyDumpty2022 · 13/07/2022 13:42

It is awful and a real sign of social ‘status’ for want of a better term. I don’t think they do it intimidate or impress they’re just ignorant and poorly raised.

Getoff · 13/07/2022 13:44

In Australia and NZ you’re told to wear a t shirt and hat in the sun.

Presumably that's to reduce skin cancer, not because being covered up makes you feel cooler.

Although my FIL once tried to explain to me why Arab clothing (full body covering) is cooler than wearing less. It may well be true, but I need a better explanation to understand why.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 13/07/2022 13:46

I don't like it either.

It's more acceptable in a park than walking down the street.

Janie90 · 13/07/2022 13:48

I don't like it to be fair, especially as it's normal blokes with a beer in hand and a cap on. They look like they're on their way go buy drugs or have an argument with someone..

I did however see an older gent this morning riding a bike, presumably to work, with his top off and I thought wow it really is hot!

Air flow, loose cut so no direct sun heat on you

Bubblebubblebah · 13/07/2022 13:49

*loose fit not cut

Davethecat2000 · 13/07/2022 13:51

It's grim.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 13/07/2022 13:54

It doesn't particularly anger me, but it does make me laugh! I'm in Scotland and as soon as the sun peeks out from behind a cloud we have the "Taps Aff" crew Grin. Always either woefully scrawny or proudly sporting a multitude of bellies, often with associated visible arse crack! Come in either milk bottle blue or (next day) lobster red, a real treat for the eyes.
It's amazing us women get any work done. Diet Coke man eat your heart out!

Muezza · 13/07/2022 13:55

The only time it bothers me is in a context where you have to stand close to people, like on public transport. It feels like skin radiates body heat more than clothing, so it's pretty unpleasant to have your face inches from a man's sweaty shirtless back on a bus 🎩

I don't know where the hat emoji came from, I can't seem to delete it

I am totally with you on this- there's no need for it!

CrotchetyQuaver · 13/07/2022 14:03

I'm not bothered by half naked other than in a supermarket

NCHammer2022 · 13/07/2022 14:04

It doesn’t make them any cooler, so YANBU.
