..to hate this heat?

I don't know how I'm going to manage another week of this. It's too much. I'm stuck indoors on the cool side of my house and the temperature inside is still 30C. Anyone else hate the heat?

Yes.

balalake · 10/07/2022 15:37

Can you visit somewhere during the week that is air-conditioned? Even just dawdle a bit longer in the supermarket perhaps?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 10/07/2022 15:38

Not unreasonable at all, there's no rule that says that you have to like hot weather

People are different and find different temperatures preferable

Shlomping1234 · 10/07/2022 15:58

Yes! I'm fed up of peeling my tits off my belly every 2 minutes!

KoalaPineapple · 10/07/2022 16:01

Being in the third trimester of pregnancy... I concur haha!

FlissyPaps · 10/07/2022 16:03

YANBU - Assuming you are in the UK? As our houses are designed to keep heat in. I can’t stand it😥

easyday · 10/07/2022 16:04

Agree. I'm watering my newly landscaped garden constantly it seems (not the grass, it's dry and brown but will recover).
I walk my dogs early and late and the whole house is horizontal in between (here's one of the cats demonstrating)

Pickingmyselfup · 10/07/2022 16:13

Nooo I'm loving it although trying to sunbathe with 2 small children is difficult. I just get comfy and they suddenly urgently need something.

I despise the cold, hate feeling it seep into my bones.

Having said that I won't be happy from Tuesday when I'm back at work serving people sitting in the sun eating and drinking. I'll be feeling very envious that I am not in their position.

I just want to live somewhere hot and sunny and not have to go to work every day. Not realistic in the slightest but we all need a fantasy in life.

Quia · 10/07/2022 16:14

It's not so bad today, I'm sitting in front of a fan watching Wimbledon. Not looking forward to when I have to get back to work tomorrow.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 10/07/2022 16:19

I'm absolutely loving it 😍

LaFeuilleMorte · 10/07/2022 16:22

I hate it. I am already a human furnace thanks to perimenopause, on top of which I’ve got covid at the moment and am a sweaty blob of misery. We have massive layers of old lady insulation in our roof so upstairs is hotter than the centre of the sun. Downstairs we are keeping it to about 24C, which is still more than I’d like. Dreading trying to sleep over the next few nights. In the heat of last summer it was about 31C at night in our bedroom 🥵🥵🥵

ouch321 · 10/07/2022 16:24

There have been predictions of hitting 42 degrees next weekend!!!

Loics · 10/07/2022 16:27

No it's awful! I don't know anyone who's actually enjoying it, I have friends who like hot, sunny weather but draw the line at this hellish was! Bring on autumn!

Loics · 10/07/2022 16:28

*hellishness, not hellish was

legaltigger · 10/07/2022 16:28

32 weeks pregnant tomorrow and just melting :(

lurchermummy · 10/07/2022 16:34

I hate it especially if I am working (work in other peoples homes and physical job so no air on) . I used to live in Singapore and could cope with it there as everything was air on/designed to let breezes through

TimBoothseyes · 10/07/2022 16:36

Love it.

Sparklingbrook · 10/07/2022 16:38

I’m sitting on the patio in the shade with a hand held fan watching YouTube on my laptop and drinking cider with ice. Could be worse.
If you had to work in this then it wouldn’t be fun.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 10/07/2022 16:38

Dreading working in it next week. Yuck.

RollOnWinter · 10/07/2022 16:40

As my name suggests, I bloody hate this weather. At least the front of our house is a bit cooler.

Hunderland · 10/07/2022 16:40

We have fans everywhere in our house; they make such a difference. I sleep with one on all night too and am eyeing up Dad's mini fan to take to work too 👀

Hunderland · 10/07/2022 16:41

DD not dad!

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 10/07/2022 16:42

Me too! Give me cloud, shade, rain and, dare I say it, snow over this face melting heat! 🥵

99ProblemsButAnIncelAintOne · 10/07/2022 16:43

Keep the curtains on the sunny side closed until the sun has moved away and then open them and open the windows. Try to let a breeze flow straight through your house, so we open both windows on the back and then open the front garden door and put a fan on in the living room. Really helps keep the air cool.

Then we eat a lot of ice lollies

isthismylifenow · 10/07/2022 16:52

It's 30 degrees inside your house?

I'm not in the UK, I do live in a hot country, but that does sound very uncomfortable. It seems that your houses are designed to store heat for winter so I didn't even think of that during a heat wave.

And here we complain as we battle to keep the heat in in winter, but our houses are designed to do the opposite to yours.

Have you closed the curtains to keep the sun out of the rooms? Open opposite windows to get a breeze to blow through? We have ceiling fans in all our rooms, they do help. If the room is hot, a normal fan is just going to blow that same hot air around.

Do you get those portable air cons that you move from room to room? It might be an idea and far more economical that a full set up.
