I don't know how I'm going to manage another week of this. It's too much. I'm stuck indoors on the cool side of my house and the temperature inside is still 30C. Anyone else hate the heat?

Every summer it's been getting hotter and hotter , last year was the same too. Last decade or so
Apart from 76 , the summers of my youth were mostly rain and cooler temperatures !
Everyone went abroad !

I am in the south though , so that makes a difference too :(

sassafras123 · 10/07/2022 18:26

Hate the summer, Im in Europe and its going to be up in the 30's till mid September. Can't wait for winter, hate the crowded beaches, mozzies, high humidity. We only have ceiling fans, thankfully today there is some wind but when everything is still it gets unbearable. I wish it would snow, I miss the variability of English weather rather than incessant sunshine. We only get rain in Dec/Jan when I hunker down and enjoy getting cosy.

labazslovesliving · 10/07/2022 18:26

my sympathies to all the pregnant mums out there; I had two summer babies and it nearly finished me!
I feel sorry for all the pets the dogs and cats don't know what to do with themselves today bless them.

BlueKaftan · 10/07/2022 18:27

I love it. It energises me. It’s almost mid July, and we deserve a week of warm weather.

neverbeenskiing · 10/07/2022 18:27

Just let us heat lovers have a few days PLEASE!

What do you mean 'let us'? You do realise that people saying they don't like the hot weather doesn't actually make it go away?

Loveisnotloving · 10/07/2022 18:28

Roll on Winter, this is utter bollocks.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 10/07/2022 18:28

Yep. 30 weeks pregnant. 3 year old toddler husband working away for another 4 week. It's horrendous

OnaBegonia · 10/07/2022 18:29

Loving it, not long back from Bodrum where it was 40 ☀️

Just let us heat lovers have a few days PLEASE! You have more than 11 months of the year, with rubbish weather, I want to make the most of this, it's glorious!!!

People complaining won't stop it being hot (unfortunately). Either way the gates of hell will remain open. 😁

CPL593H · 10/07/2022 18:30

I hate it with a total passion. I've never been a warm weather person but since menopause when my body seemed to lose any ability to regulate, permanently and some of the hot spells we're had in recent years, it is just horrible. Nothing against sun or pleasant warmth, but I look and feel like an overdone, dripping lobster. My joints ache. The fans irritate me. People wandering around in shorts appearing to enjoy it irritate me. Everything irritates me. I WANT TO LIVE ON AN ICE FLOW!!!!

Thank you Grin

Livpool · 10/07/2022 18:32

As this is the first nice day we have had here I am loving it.

A figure of speech as I'm sure you realised

Basically I was being polite. Instead of saying...can't we have a few days of heat in a whiley year without people whinging sounded rather rude so I went for the polite version

wherethemonkeyssing · 10/07/2022 18:34

I love the heat but what I really, really don't love is parenting in the heat with stroppy, sweaty kids who have bickered for about 99% of the day and I know won't go to bed until really late as it's too hot!

Hear hear. Sat outside on a recliner with a chilled glass of rosé, just bliss

OK. I'll allow it. But don't get too used to it please! 😬

Hehe! It's a deal ! 😀

VinegarRinse · 10/07/2022 18:36

Forecasts for later in the week have gone down a little regarding temperatures. It's not forecasting 33 anymore in London. I hope they're right

Me likewise. I'm in the SE and it was 30c outdoors today. I have a long hallway that is flanked on each side by rooms, so it tends to stay coolest in there. It's 24c at the mo which is tolerable. I've moved a comfy chair in there.

If it hits 42 I will curl up and die.

I think death by melting could be a true thing Grin

TheLostNights · 10/07/2022 18:38

Hate it.
Headache all day
Pouring with sweat
Feel sick
House like a sauna
The thought of this being prolonged and getting worse actually makes me want to cry

hububalub · 10/07/2022 18:38

I read on Mumsnet last year about freezing a filled hot water bottle during the day and taking it to bed at night. We've got one each now as it really helps. Just having it on the bed next to me seems to cool me down a bit. Same with going to bed with wet hair 😀

DeadButDelicious · 10/07/2022 18:40

YANBU. It's hideous. Truly hideous.

Julymakesmecry1999 · 10/07/2022 18:42

July is pure torture in more ways than one! I wish I could just skip this month all together. Sad anniversaries combined with this intense heat/ brightness are just a vile combination.

HalfBrick · 10/07/2022 18:43

You lot need to move out of your modern houses into damp old stone houses like mine. Knobbling all year round but a delightful sanctuary on the 4 days a year when it goes over 24 degrees, I'm currently in my garden warming up as I went in for food and got cold in my vest Grin

colouringindoors · 10/07/2022 18:43

Tooooo hot for me (perimenopause also not helping)

But people with windows open during day - shut them! Only open late evening when temp is right down. Leave open for as long as poss then shut by 9am. Have all curtains closed all day til temp goes down. Makes a massive difference.

knittingaddict · 10/07/2022 18:45

ouch321 · 10/07/2022 16:24

There have been predictions of hitting 42 degrees next weekend!!!

NO,NO,NO, I'm just not doing it. 😭

I hate anything above 21 degrees and seem to get the opposite kind of SAD. It's the hot summer months that make me cranky and depressed. The only thing that's keeping me going is the overhead fan my husband fitted over the winter. It's a sanity saver.
