..to hate this heat?

I don't know how I'm going to manage another week of this. It's too much. I'm stuck indoors on the cool side of my house and the temperature inside is still 30C. Anyone else hate the heat?

OP posts:

Just saying as someone with Crohn's disease the extreme heat is a nightmare. I have some cooling towels which are amazing but I just have to get through it by not eating much and drinking when it is safe.

The forecast for next Sunday is saying it's going to hit 42C down South...the humidity will be horrific, I'm hoping it's wrong...

So am I Shock

pinkhousesarebest · 10/07/2022 19:31

I have just come back from London and I found it hard work ( disclaimer, the temperatures for my home country are 40 degrees from next week) as the houses aren’t built for heat. We have shutters, tiled floors, thick stone walls. I was cooked alive in carpets and curtains.

Footloosee · 10/07/2022 19:37

Just put in London on bbc weather. This is Sunday

Autumn can't come quick enough!

Went for a walk to this abandoned house today. I was medium rare by the time we got back

I am an absolute heat loather. We have been renovating and installed air con. I can honestly say I would sacrifice every thing we've done just for the air con! At the time every single person- family and friends, all said the same thing, basically what on earth are we doing, we are mad, total waste of money etc but we use it so much and whole house is completely cool. We are all much happier. Best money I've ever spent and I'd say if anyone is on the fence about it- do it!! Office on the other hand has no air con and I spent all week dripping and miserable.

Yes! I'm fed up of peeling my tits off my belly every 2 minutes!

Same!!

OP you're not alone, I completely detest this weather!

Dizzyhedgehog · 10/07/2022 19:54

Nope...but we aren't in the UK and our house stays cool, especially in our bedrooms, while our garden is set up for hot weather. It was 21 degrees and cloudy today. I was wearing a jumper because it was bloody cold...
Luckily, it's getting warmer again tomorrow and we'll be able to get back in the pool. I'm not generally bothered by heat, though...I hate being cold. The snow in winter is lovely for a few weeks and then I really can't wait for it to do one.

trexahoy · 10/07/2022 20:00

I don't hate the weather as such but I am dreading a full week at work in the hospital clad in poly cotton with full face masks for 5 x 7.5hr shifts with limited access to water and toilets. I'm not sure I can do it. Buildings in the U.K. are just not set up for this weather.

You poor thing 😔 I can't even imagine this, it sounds like torture.

Bought some of those m&s anti chafe shorts yesterday. They're great! Comfy, no chafing, not sweaty.

Snooks1971 · 10/07/2022 21:43

Sorry I HRTFT (am in Norfolk sweating) but has anyone mentioned neck fans yet? Discovered this last year and couldn’t live without it now. Will try to link to the one I’ve got but am sure there are others…. It’s a lifesaver, charged with a USB port

Can u put up a link xx

It happens every year and we always act surprised by it. I don’t like it at all, the worst thing is going running when it’s 25 degrees outside. Probably burn more calories but Jesus, it’s hard!

SleeplessInEngland · 11/07/2022 07:48

I think anyone who looks at the forecast for the next two weeks and gets excited either A) lives by the coast or B) is psychotic.

I have to giggle a bit at this - I've just qualified in a AHP profession, and I'm watching all the others on my course who've gone through the "wooo got my new uniform for my new job" process now rapidly move to the "I'm dying in this tunic in this heat" stage of affairs! They're all now begging to be allowed to wear scrubs instead!

I don't start till September as my post is waiting on other people's appointments first - so at least I avoid this heatwave.

I don't think that's the right link? It goes to the orders page.

TiredInPerpetuity · 11/07/2022 09:42

I don't mind it usually but this year I'm hibernating with a newborn. It's good hard to keep her shaded and cool! But it's much harder with a 4 year old who wants to live in the paddling pool
22/23 is gorgeous but anything over that feels too much at the minute

LindaEllen · 11/07/2022 09:45

I've spent the past couple of weeks complaining we've hardly had any decent weather this summer, and now I'm complaining it's too hot.

I just don't know why it has to either piss it down or melt my face off, there has to be a lovely middle ground, surely!

Sparklingbrook · 11/07/2022 09:52

Sitting eating breakfast in the garden now, which is so nice. Wouldn't want to do that in the winter/rain. Work later but there's air conditioning there thank goodness.

Motherofalittledragon · 11/07/2022 16:56

Yep roll on the winter 🥶

Nooo! Ice and snow and never seeing the house in daylight for months on end?

katesbushh · 11/07/2022 23:46

It is vile.

I do like the heat when abroad but then I have air con, cold tiled floors and a swimming pool.

I can't open my windows as my hayfever is awful this year.

We have fans in every room and an air con unit on the landing
And even then it is too hot.

I think I'm allergic to summer.

I love autumn.
