To hope Johnson doesn't resign?

Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

OP posts:

All of that is true about the Tories and women's rights.

But it doesn't change the fact that the other parties are either too gullible or too corrupt to admit they know what a woman is. The Tories set the self-id trap then walked back out. But the other parties followed them, settled in and decorated with flags. That's on those parties. And no party that incompetent and easily trapped deserves to be in power.

I see all of this as a failed attempt to transpose US politics to the UK. From Boris being Trump-lite to Labour wallowing in the dismantlement of women's rights.

Boris needs to go. And when he does, the other parties need to grow up. If they want a seat at the big boys' table, they need to admit they know what boys and girls are.

A bit of an aside but, unpopular though it is, I think we need to pay our politicians a decent wage. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys. I mean, why would anyone do the job nowadays? I think many of them start off with good intentions (Boris Johnson excepted) but they get ground down by criticism and complaints from constituents, in some case threats of physical violence, they are subject to machinations within their own parties, and then they get constantly harangued by the press and public at large. Anyone who wants to subject themselves to all of that crap is probably by definition the wrong sort of person to do the job imho as you have to have the hide of a rhinocerous and overwhelming ambition. When what the people really need are MPs with a bit of humility who will, first and foremost, listen.

WiddlinDiddlin · 06/07/2022 05:00

Yep, unpopular indeed - however if they were paid a decent wage AND.. people with a private income or other income stream weren't permitted to be politicians... thats a different matter.

One of the issues with Johnson is he can get away with not giving a flying fuck what he does, who he does it to, what he gets caught doing, what anyone thinks of him.. is he does not need this, or any job, financially.

That applies to many politicians, though by no means all of course.

Or better yet - means test politician pay - if you have x millions in the bank and x millions worth of property, you can be a politician.. but you don't get paid.

If you don't have x millions/property etc - then you get a living wage.

Maybe they should get letters like a large chunk of the population, that read:

'You'll recieve 34.63 a week, we calculated this because this is what the government says you need to live on for a week'.

I'd really like that.

GoldenSongbird · 06/07/2022 05:13

MPs get over £84,000 plus allowances. That's well over the UK average. They don't need a salary increase. It would make more sense to cap their wages at the UK average. Then if they wanted a salary increase they'd need to introduce policies or stabilise the economy enough that the UK average salary rose.

Too many MPs, Boris included, see being a politician as a chance to court rich donors and multi-nationals as future employers. Although at this point, I'd be grateful if the private sector offered Boris a high paying job. Maybe he could join NC at Facebook. Let the US have Boris for the next decade... or longer.

Identifying them as hot totty, unless they are of course postboxes. The man gives no fucks about women's rights he just knows that it will be a sure vote winner.

Correct, it is very important to me to vote for someone who knows what a woman is and what they are for.

jgw1 · 06/07/2022 05:44

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/07/2022 23:02

The Tory Party are not actively rejecting women's rights...

Yes they are. They refused to make misogyny a Hate Crime and they have refused to protect abortion rights. You are placing a lot of trust in them if you believe they are going to fix what they have broken. They are the government, if they wanted to protect women's spaces, womens rights and free speech, they'd have done it by now.🤷‍♀️

At least the Deputy Prime Minister thinks that misogyny is bad whether it is directed at women or men. This is an excellent position for a political party.

chaosmaker · 06/07/2022 05:46

Of course there is/was? a woman's party Led by Sandy Toksvig which, if I remember rightly was all about making women actually equal. Surely that is a party that knows what a woman is! You'd probably need to donate to them so they could afford to stand a candidate in your area in a GE - now that would rock the boat if all UK women did that and they got in.

jgw1 · 06/07/2022 05:47

SushiShopSearch · 05/07/2022 23:53

Boris is one of the few that has the balls to know what a woman is. The other parties have been utterly pathetic.

Yes indeed, Boris always thinks with his balls when women are concerned. That is why I will vote for him.

I’m starting to think most of the ‘at least he knows what a woman is’ posts are from bots. They are almost always similar in style and structure.

Pointless trying to debate with them as they’re intent is to muddy the waters and make this about opposition parties to deflect from the shitshow now in power.

I tried a few times to get them to actually say what a woman was, they singularly failed to provide a coherent answer. It is almost as if it is not as easy as their slogans suggest it is. A bit like get brexit done I suppose.

Would be if he decried misandry but he doesn't know the right word. I wouldn't trust anyone that can't admit their party is a giant cock up and has turned to ashes everything they've touched

No, no, the Deputy Prime Minister is right when he says that misogny is bad whether directed at a man or a woman. This is why I will vote for them.

🤞

Literally ANYONE ELSE!!!!!! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree OP. I want the Tories unelectable for a long time.

I mean, you'd think this might already be the case. What is WRONG with people?! 🙈

Boris will always have my vote because he can identify a woman at 30yards.

WTF? No bot here Hmm, a woman is an adult human female. Get Brexit done? What's that got to do with anything other than trying to tar people who are against gender woo with the same brush as 'those ignorant' leavers. I voted to stay in the EU and have not and never will vote for the Conservatives. So sick of this shit. Globally, the rights and dignity of woman are under threat in a way that has not been observed in a generation. This includes conservative economic and social policies as well as 'progressiv'e (ha!) gender ID nonsense. It's pathetic, we are facing global warming, the destruction of our planet and global recession, possibly nuclear war while also dealing with pandemics and meanwhile TQ+ dominates the activism space. It's a joke.

you mean because he gets sexual favours from them on work time, in public places, whilst married, and leaves a trail of single mums in his wake?

ClaudineClare · 06/07/2022 07:02

For some reason I read that as impregnate a woman at 30 yards.

I agree though, Johnson knows what a woman is. They are people you fuck and leave (with bonus points for leaving whilst they are being treated for cancer).

so you have replaced the word woman with female. But unless on actually says what one means by female (XY?) it is still an utterly meaningless statement like "getting Brexit done".

No they are not all "as bad as each other". That is the lie that people who voted for and would still vote for Johnson tell themselves, along with the absolute shite about "but he knows what a woman is". I am not a massive fan of Starmer, but he is not a pathological liar with no integrity. He is also not a proven racist.

Johnson is far and away worst PM this country has ever had. His legacy will be poison.

Zonder · 06/07/2022 07:37

What @ClaudineClare said. I hate that "they're all as bad as each other" crap.

Blojo has taken being bad to a whole new level.

Oh you clever clogs! Please, do explain, what is a trans women?

Musomama1 · 06/07/2022 07:48

I'm no Tory but I don't think the other parties would change much for us day to day. We r in a recession that'll last for at least another year perhaps longer. It's going to be tight for some time whoever is in until global prices come down. I usually vote Labour but they are notoriously bad spenders, at the moment the economy might become worse under them.

What would happen is that there would be less sleaze (you would hope) and I think we're all sick of the scandals. Male Tory MPs do not know how to behave 🤔

But I'm not personally a Lab or Lib Dem fan at the moment so my thinking is replace BoJo and carry on, keep sacking all the sleazy members.
