To hope Johnson doesn't resign?

Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

'At convenient times it seems'

Everyone was fummin yesterday that there was a party planned in Chequers, planned obviously before he knew he was out. So once the decision to leave was made the plans changed! Its actually what folk wanted yesterday now it's like 'how very dare he do what we wanted him to do!!' Grin

The poster actually commented about how the ministers were sent out to defend that decision happening.

Not about the decision.

I admire you're tenacity on contradicting every post to defend the story's actions - but it usually helps to actually read the post first and defend the right thing WinkGrin

I genuinely was not being sniffy. I can't cope with Richard Madeley AKA Alan Partridge so don't watch it, that's all.

For the first time ever I have stopped watching the news.

I think the last time I watched a full news programme.was before Christmas last year and judging by the bits of news I overhear (Dh has the tv on in the living room and occasionally I overhear bits if it). I don’t think there has been a change in the news since then.

News programmes seem to have people who would consider themselves interviewers but really can’t let go of their own opinions, like the sound of their voices too much for people to get a word in edge ways and either don’t listen when someone tries to correct them or says something that doesn’t follow their own dogmatic view
They will ask a question and then speak over the person when they try to answer.
Then accuse the interviewee of not answering their question.

Some of their guest interviewees who come to the studio to promote their new film, charity etc you can see them trying to disguise the WTF when they are asked a question on the reason they are there and before they have explained fully they are asked about their opinion on the topic of the day. You can see them trying to give noncommittal replies whilst trying to get out all the relevant information on the charity they are trying to promote.

In the end the news just got boring. It was Groundhog Day with the radio going off at exactly the same time and the presenter repeating the same words over and over again.

No this is his colleagues legacy for the party.

Obviously many people won't vote Conservative the way they've ousted him. They have lost any chance of being electable and in 2024 we will have some hideously incompetent SNP/Labour hunch causing havoc in power. Putin must be pissing himself laughing.

The Mirror and Labour will be doing a conga as we speak. I must say well played Pippa Crerar & co. Who knew the Mirror ran the country.

I'm pleased to learn that Boris is not responsible for his legacy.

Have we heard how the pot plants are?

SleeplessInEngland · 08/07/2022 10:48

My hope is the boris betrayal narrative runs amok now. Let it tear the party apart. It'll mean another 2 years of conservative psychodrama but we were going to get that anyway.

Roussette · 08/07/2022 10:53

I only hope he has decent relationships with his kids and isn't passing on his extreme emotional dysfunction to them

Two of his first 4 children don't speak to him, and I doubt those whose existence he denied do either.

I don't know what fummin is... I presume fuming?
I was.
Good he's not now having the party there, they must have got wind of my light aircraft with the banner saying #WorstPM. Grin
No 'how vary dare he' here. Just I should bloody well think so.

I like interviewers who let their guests speak.
Sophy Ridge is better at letting them speak before jumping in to bring then down. It is annoying when they won't let them talk.

ClaudineClare · 08/07/2022 12:31

Have we heard how the pot plants are?

I heard they are worried that their usual generous daily supply of richly fertilising bullshit is about to be cut off.🪴 Or is that the cabinet? 🤔 I do get them mixed up.

Starmer cleared by the police. The MSN/remainer anti-boris conspiracy rolls on! 😆

Thoughts and prayers to the Scum Media lot on twitter at this difficult time.

Of course it does.

As identified on another thread there’s different dressing depending on the situation. Majority when it’s in their favour, herd mentality when not. Biased press with an agenda when the reports aren’t favourable, justified interventions when they need a personal favour.

There is literally no answer they’d concede unless it’s the one they’ve already decided is right.

It was always so obvious it was just a Tory , right wing media smear.

How long till posts saying KS has Durham Police in his pocket?!

I wouldn’t go for a walk if you want to see the first one.

I’ve already seen comments that they’re crooked because they let off Cummings, despite the fact that was clearly in the tories favour at the time regardless of what transpired later on.

it’s exhausting just watching the gymnastics.

Summerwhereareyou · 08/07/2022 12:54

I've never understood the cake thing.

Had we got concrete evidence of Boris saying...

" Folks! It's my birthday soon and as you know I love cake and party. I'm therefore organizing cake 🍰🎂 and a party....see you in my garden at blah, RSVP, top dog 🐕🐩."

Then I would understand the ire.

However, we don't have any evidence that he did instigate his own party?

He didn't ask for nor order cake?

As pm I would hope his mind is on bjgger issues!

ClaudineClare · 08/07/2022 12:55

The decision on Starmer rounds off this disastrous week in Tory nicely. Happy Friday everyone!

Summerwhereareyou · 08/07/2022 12:57

Re Cummings, I don't think many people realised that inspite of working for the Tory party, Cummings was never a Tory.

So before they realised that , Durham police were crooked.
Then they were "in limbo" whilst trying to process that he was a major Brexit player but wasnt a Tory.

Then many said...ok Durham police are not crooked because Cummings is now in full attack mode on big dog.

ClaudineClare · 08/07/2022 12:58

Summerwhereareyou it is over. Johnson was fined because he broke the law, Starmer wasn't 'cos he didn't. Raking through he debris of Johnson's disgraced premiership will change nothing.

The mental gymnastics must be exhausting. It is over. Move on, draw a line under it, as Big Dog has said ad infinitum.

SleeplessInEngland · 08/07/2022 13:03

To be fair to the tories, 'beergate' was a success on its own terms: they managed to make something out of absolutely nothing, drew an equivelence where none existed, and distracted from Johnson's own massive failings for a couple of weeks. Without it he'd have gone sooner.

Roussette · 08/07/2022 13:03

Tories and their cheerleaders are absolutely obsessed with the words 'cake' and 'party'. It's odd.
It's not about cake and it's not about a party (let's call it 'food' and a 'gathering' if that helps) and the cleverly cropped pic shows that he was at a gathering for more than 5 minutes, when he should not have been. And there were more there than him and Sunak in the pics. And they were fined. And he is the first PM to break the law. I don't get the confusion.

Anyway, at least we've lost Sir Beer and Beergate now. We can move on from this.

Summerwhereareyou · 08/07/2022 13:19

The mental gymnastics must be exhausting for those who just hate people because they have done something or belong to a political party they don't like.

Especially over a figure like Cummings 😂

Summerwhereareyou · 08/07/2022 13:20

Rousstte but did he personally request and organise it?

I'e big dog 🐕?
