To hope Johnson doesn't resign?

LonelyPlanetGirI · 05/07/2022 18:51

Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 17:30

Johnson lied and lied about it but that doesn't seem to bother you. He created his own scandals.

Cornettoninja · 07/07/2022 17:37

The party in power are held to higher standards than those who are not, because they’re in power.

It’s embarrassing that needs to be explained at all tbh.

DowningStreetParty · 07/07/2022 15:03

He’s not resigned as PM, he just says he will later. Can’t trust him to do it. Nothing’s really changed today has it?

I think this needs to be said and posted far more widely.

It was a complete Johnson resignation.

Sorry not sorry.

I didn't know - I did know

I'll resign - but I haven't

AmaryIlis · 07/07/2022 17:49

His party have stabbed him in the back whipped up by the constant media hysteria and smears.

Was it just a media smear that Johnson appointed Pincher where he had responsibility for MPs' welfare and major power over their careers whilst knowing that he had been responsible for more than one incident of sexual misconduct? And that on initially hearing about the latest highly unpleasant incidents he initially wasn't going to do anything about it? And that he sent his colleagues out to the media to lie about it having given them at least three different versions of the facts? And that even yesterday he was claiming to have forgotten that this highly unforgettable information about Pincher had been reported to him, and was blaming others for the recent attacks for letting Pincher get drunk?

Or do you think that it is just hysteria to object to Johnson knowingly putting a man with a propensity to grope and sexually proposition young men into a position of power over young men?

SueSaid · 07/07/2022 16:42

'Dear me, JaniieJones, and you usually so prompt to post the polls.'

I can't recall ever posting the polls tbh. I'm sure one of my avid fans will be searching as we speak in desperate attempts to prove me wrong.

Avid fans. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Im beginning to think you are actually Johnson!

There can't be 2 people so deluded in the UK?

Changechangychange · 07/07/2022 17:50

SleeplessInEngland · 07/07/2022 15:06

The Mirror is reporting that Johnson will host a lavish wedding with Carrie at Chequers while he still has access to it this summer.

Couldn't make it up.

Wonder which Russian spies will make it onto the guest list.

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 17:53

All this media smear crap is deflection.

You can't smear someone for something they haven't done.

We have very clear laws around this and are there for a purpose.

If Johnson didn't lie publicly no one would be able to print it.

What his supporters don't like is that he plays a war of semantics. When it's printed he can no longer deny it through 3 word slogans.

SueSaid · 07/07/2022 17:57

'The party in power are held to higher standards than those who are not, because they’re in power.'

Fascinating. So Labour can have beers and social gatherings in lockdown because they aren't in power (despite voting for said rules in parliament) and the snp can skirt around the Grady problem because they aren't in power (even though I think the first minister of Scotland would disagree with you there) . I'd no idea about these rulez but thankyou for explaining. Is this why the Chinese spy was ok because wait wait, I know the answer!! the Lib dems weren't in power so it didn't matter!

Perhaps you could apply for a job at the Mirror, you seem to think on similar wavelengths.

"The problem with UK politics is that the media doesn't sufficiently support the Tory party".

'Jesus, now I've actually heard it all.'

Who said that? 🙄. What I actually said is the media treat them differently. Sex pests in the snp, so what. Sex pest in the Conservatives sack BoJo. Ditto cakegate and beergate. They sycophanticly creep around Ange and SirBeer whilst hissing at Conservative ministers like they're stupid.

Ah I see. That'll explain why they all fawned over Corbyn so much.

Absolute bollocks, made of false equivalances. Johnson broke the law during lockdown, that has been established by the police who fined him for it. He then lied to parliament to try and cover it up. It would appear that there are multiple other, extremely flagrant breaches that the police haven't acted upon, I'm not sure why.

Starmer has been ACCUSED of similarly breaking the law, and reported to the police who are investigating it. The evidence for that accusation appears weak, but ultimately that's not for me or anyone else to say. The police will investigate it and he may be fined, he may not. There is no evidence that he's lied about it, and he's publicly stated that if he's found to have broken the law he'll resign, something Johnson never had the decency to do even AFTER he was found to have broken the law.

I'm no Starmer fan BTW, but if you don't understand the difference between guilt and accusation you've got no business saying anything about law or politics. But in truth you do understand perfectly well, don't you? The whole beergate thing just being desperately whipped up by the Tory press to give Johnson a get-out in the form of the old "they're all as bad as each other"/

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 18:19

126 FPN's but Starmer had a curry and beer.

going round in circles

Provenceinthesummer · 07/07/2022 18:20

This has worked out brilliantly for Johnson in the end.

He gets to enjoy chequers, an easy ride over the summer. He has played a blinder! I genuinely think Boris is laughing all the way to the bank now - he is set to earn millions now - and on reflection he will be leaving just at the moment when the economic shit hits the fan, it is going to be so bad by the autumn - and he hands it all over to some other sucker and walks off being the PM that got brexit over the line, stayed with us in the dark days of the pandemic and stood by Ukraine. All the terrible stuff coming down the line, he will long long gone.

No wonder Carrie is smiling - the winner really does take it all, now they get to enjoy their lives with rich pickings and he will be the most memorable PM in history for sure.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2022 18:25

Yeah, he has got out before the really big stuff hits us all
Maybe he'll look back and think ' thank goodness' ! After all ,paying the bills won't be a problem for them at all and a new career begins
He'll earn more than being PM too.
It is all win win for him really.

Cornettoninja · 07/07/2022 18:25

Janiie, Where did I say what other parties did doesn’t matter? I was trying to convey to you why it’s a bigger deal when it’s the ruling party who wields power because it’s shocking you don’t seem to be able to grasp it.

What other parties do have much less impact on peoples lives. Kier getting a FPN has much less impact on anything, there’ll be a new labour leader who will either lead the party to be electable or won’t and his constituents will get the chance to elect a new MP.

BJ getting a FPN means that we have a sitting prime minister who has broken the law and has demonstrated bad judgement at the very best, yet goes on to lead the country through difficult situations without the public, his constituents or wider, having any choice in whether they wish to continue to be represented by him.

Your post is heaving with false equivalences because that’s all you’ve got to fall back on. Childish at the very best and worrying at worst. You have to create a narrative that someone believes something you have zero evidence for to make your view point credible.

Honestly, if you really believe in what you’re saying it shouldn’t be so hard.

Blossomtoes · 07/07/2022 18:46

he will be the most memorable PM in history for sure

Unlikely but even if he was it would be for all the wrong reasons. Heroic, he ain’t. He can have his party at Chequers, I don’t give a shit about it, I just want to never see or hear him again.

That we know of. He doesn't seem to have media moles and party backstabbers ready to drop him in it and make crap up does he.

This episode could well be a snapshot of the wilful disregard for the restrictions in place at the time. We don't know do we. If only Pippa and Brand were a bit more even with their 'sources'.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 18:52

Oh dear Janiie Grin

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 18:56

If anything that's been reported in the media is false then we have laws to protect the person.

The fact no one has been sued for libel or slander it's pretty clear everything printed about Johnson is true.

And if he didn't do it they couldn't print it.

If Starmer locked us down and then had parties I'd feel exactly the same way about him.

I'd feel the same way if the same came out about the royal family too.

The 'Sir Beer' who hasn't actually been charged with anything who the Tories and their media pals put pressure on the police to investigate so that they have something to use for false equivalence. The right wing media who constantly reference a Labour government as being a 'socialist nightmare' and whom even now try and equate Labour now with a government that was around nearly 50 years ago?

So... the Labour party could well be guilty of 126 FPN's? And it's not being reported, is that what you're saying?

They are saints compared to what the party in power have got up to. And the public won't forget.

Pippa and Brand... OK... I'll ask. Are there any news sources you do like?

Please tell me you don't watch KGBNews

I hope he has his party in Chequers. I hope there's helicopters flying overhead showing massive marquees and him abusing his position as a resigned (?) PM at a country Estate that is owned by the people, not him.

I have no idea why you ever denied liking BJ. You're his biggest fan. You did say once, if it's proven he broke the law, he should go. You've now backtracked on that. You are now his biggest fan and in being so, you are denigrating other Tories. I get it... you're very very upset that he's gone and hopping mad he's been ousted.

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 19:11

I am imagining janiie as the last I saw interviewed outside a pub earlier on sky news.

She was talking with a mothering voice about poor ole misunderstood Johnson. Even said "yes, he's made a few mistakes - but don't we all".

I've made mistakes.

Breaking the law, lying to my boss and employing a known sexual predation are not on that list.

I'm beginning to wonder if this sexual griping thing has torn people in 2. Many think the only reason Tory's were so outraged was because it's against a male. I'm beginning to think these woman might be using that to defend him and what they would say if he's groped a woman?

We are a fucking weird county

“but why isn’t the media criticizing Starmer for random things I’m speculating about without any proof of?”

an absolute nutcase.

SueSaid · 07/07/2022 19:14

'have no idea why you ever denied liking BJ.'

Did I deny liking him? I thought I always said I wasn't his 'fangirl' and he wasn't my hero, but yes obviously i liked him. Also I've said repeatedly he was better than the alternative in 2019 as we all know. His party chose him as leader not me.
