To hope Johnson doesn't resign?

Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

If anyone is basing this on what Conservative voters have said, surely they realise that anyone voting Conservative will tell the pollsters what they think they want to hear.

Look at what happens in elections.

Nah, the 'shy tory' phenomenon is largely a myth. The last by-elections, local and general were well predicted. In fact the last major general they didn't preict well was tories losing seats in 2017.

Ladbrokes current odds for next PM

Penny Mordaunt 5/1
Rishi 6/1
Saj 8/1
Ben Wallace 9/1
Liz Truss 9/1
Dom Raab 😂 10/1
Jacob RM 66/1

Ooh, Penny Mordaunt is favourite.🙈

Provenceinthesummer · 06/07/2022 15:15

Notably Rishi is 2nd I wonder what inspired him to resign?! Ah Saj too.., 🤔

SueSaid · 06/07/2022 15:16

'Except JJ typed it herself rather than a C and P job!'

We see repeatedly on these threads BJ got a bj while his poor wife had cancer. Her diagnosis came a year after they'd separated. So why don't you stop sniggering about who c&p what and admit the poor wife with cancer story is untrue, like a lot of crap spouted about him?

Single market/customs union dressed up as a European Political Federation including Ukraine will do for starters on the back of a hung parliament and Lib Dems getting PR through Parliament, SNP losing an indyref and the death of the Tory party as a governing political farce. That's in my Santa letter. Thanks, Boris you have made all of that much more possible. I raise my Pinchered glass to you !

Weird. Didn't see that one coming.

Moonmelodies · 06/07/2022 15:20

They missed out Kemi Badenoch, she is quite popular at the moment.

I'm amazed you couldn't take one thing from Javid's statement, not one'

It was supposed to be a statement I believe, rather he took the opportunity to launch a personal attack in public knowing full well Johnson couldn't respond. As I said a weak man with form for quitting.

Snake Johnson doesn't have for, for quitting.

He has form for being sacked for lying though ...........

SueSaid · 06/07/2022 15:21

God Tobias Ellwood on the liaison committee. What a tedious drip.

Roussette · 06/07/2022 15:21

like a lot of crap spouted about him?

Is it crap that he actively promoted an MP to become Deputy Chief Whip, a role primarily there to protect MPs, whilst knowing he sexually assaulted men, and then conveniently forgot about allegations, and actively lied about it? Yet another loyalist with no attributes put in a role to protect him.

Thought not. No crap there!

David Davis has a personal axe to grind, well known
Steve Baker is the party rebel
AndrewvBridgen a weasel of a man that no doubt hedging his bets and on the make

Thats it.
Everyone else is remain

Lord Frost - that wellknown Remainer.

Notonthestairs · 06/07/2022 15:22

I'm smiling at peoples complaints about Ministers resigning because they want to be PM.

I wonder who else pulled this move not that long ago ...funny how what goes around, comes around.

SlowHorses · 06/07/2022 15:22

Sure, let him do the dirty work and then discard him. Many of the others would have had a nervous breakdown if faced with a tiny fraction of what this man has been able to pull off

What is it about some Tory supporters that can’t hold 2 thoughts at once? Even if I agreed with the policies, it is all negated if your behaviour is not becoming of the office.

DowningStreetParty · 06/07/2022 15:22

Boris Johnson is like the Millwall of politics- not in a good way. Except he can’t sing ‘nobody likes us and we don’t care’ because everyone’s already resigned Hmm

HRTQueen · 06/07/2022 15:22

I’m surprised Jeremy Hunt (though I don’t think the Tories would be so stupid) or Tobias Ellwood are not on the list both been hanging about in the Wings

would this just be a temporary leader until a leadership election can take place ?

Penny Mordaunt she is hardly high profile

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/07/2022 15:24

Kemi Badenoch is 94/1

Provenceinthesummer · 06/07/2022 15:26

Interesting that remainders are openly acknowledging their intentions.

Provenceinthesummer · 06/07/2022 15:26

No one has heard of Kemi
she has no chance

Lonelycrab · 06/07/2022 15:27

That is funny. Really really funny. Am genuinely laughing that you think that.

And some people are clearly very stupid, so you haven’t thought that one through either!

Weird thing to focus in on but ok.

Cheating on a wife who was battling cancer would be an atrocious PR nightmare, but if it were true (which I agree it isn’t) it’d be the cherry on top of a rather large shit sundae that he’s doled out. Dump the cherry and there’s still a lot to dig through.

SleeplessInEngland · 06/07/2022 15:27

So glad the remainer plot is finally coming to fruition. It's going just as we planned for the last 6 years.

bwahahaha

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2022 15:27

I hope it’s Penny Mordaunt. So much for voting Tory because they’ll protect women’s rights.

SlowHorses · 06/07/2022 15:29

I voted remain and haven’t fully considered the possibility but gut reaction is that ship has sailed and don’t think it’s good use of public funds to attempt a reversal. It was such a distraction when core policies should have been the focus and there are other more pressing issues like cost of living crisis/take your pick of issues.

Provenceinthesummer · 06/07/2022 14:54

We are now in the throes of watching remain trying to wrestle back the power so they can put the brakes on brexit - a desperate plot to yet again overthrow democracy.

People are not stupid - no one can be under any illusion now.

Except both Tory and Labour have said the decision will not be reversed.

So their motives would be wasteful if true.
