Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

I've come to offer my condolences to the Boris fangirls watching their hero crash and burn.

Was it 'Take That' who set up counselling lines for their fans when they broke up? Maybe the Tory party could do that for these poor betrayed souls? I'm pretty sure they'd need a lot less lines. . .

let's not act like Boris is a victim

Sure, let him do the dirty work and then discard him. Many of the others would have had a nervous breakdown if faced with a tiny fraction of what this man has been able to pull off

I'd have a nervous breakdown trying to remember what lies I told the other day so I can continue to remember the same lie next time I tell the story.

Sadly for him despite his sanity withholding this the integrity of his followers and supporters haven't.

Errr.. no, this isn’t about Brexit. We’re in 2022 now ProvenceintheSummer

It is all about Brexit. Dressed up in outrage about cake and other people's sexual misconduct.

the80sweregreat · 06/07/2022 15:02

To be fair , they wouldn't be stacking shelves ( I think that is being mean to those hard working retail staff and managers who keep us all fed and the shops open and worked over lockdown etc)
Many are just really upset and disillusioned with their boss and want a change; they will still have jobs and earn a decent living and they are certainly not stupid!

We are now in the throes of watching remain trying to wrestle back the power so they can put the brakes on brexit - a desperate plot to yet again overthrow democracy.

People are not stupid - no one can be under any illusion now.

Desperate reasons from you there... never mind

This is nothing to do with Brexit. Nice try though!

Her diagnosis came a year after their divorce announcement but don't let that stop your inaccurate froth.

I thought that was Clav's line...

My immediate thought!

Except JJ typed it herself rather than a C and P job!

ClaudineClare · 06/07/2022 15:03

I am absolutely loving watching the squirming going on social media. Tory heads everywhere are exploding over the demise of the rancid lump of lard.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/07/2022 15:04

From the BBC

Fox: I urge you to do the right thing and resign

Here's more detail from Liam Fox, the former defence secretary who was previously loyal to Boris Johnson.

He says: "The events of recent days...have convinced me that unfortunately, you cannot continue to lead the Conservative Party and more importantly our country."

"We have lost too many good people from the government who could not reconcile their loyalty to you with their conscience. I share their feelings."

"Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I am today withdrawing my support for you as I no longer have confidence in you as our leader. I urge you to do the right thing and resign."

Tough.

My vote will count just as much as yours.

Well yes and no - if you live a safe seat it won't, due to our shit electoral system.

SleeplessInEngland · 06/07/2022 15:04

70% of the electorate want Johnon to resign, including 51% of 2019 tory voters. If I was a Leaver I wouldn't be trying to turn that into another brexit battle, because it makes brexit look very unpopular indeed.

You're the only one who's mentioned cake continually on this thread.

What do you mean put the brakes on Brexit

We have already left. No going back.

mbosnz · 06/07/2022 15:06

And now to face the Commons Liaison Committee.

Wonder if he's going to storm out in a huff with that one?

Talk about a bad day at the office.

And we are really going to trust the polls aren’t we m! Given their disasters lately at elections and refs!!

DowningStreetParty · 06/07/2022 15:07

Yes. We will all have to suffer while trying to clear up the utter shit show of Brexit, economically and socially.

Boris only hopped on board the ridiculous Brexit bandwagon at the last minute because back in the day he fancied himself as PM and being Pro-Brexit was a way for him to oppose David Cameron and look leaderesque. Boris doesn’t do political conviction. He was just posturing and power hungry. Neither of those two irresponsible weasels ever thought that the country would actually vote for it.

Well he managed to get some of it done. With a fair bit of conviction

I suppose could defer to the wisdom of your swivel-eyed ravings instead, but... nah, polls will have to do.

Provenceinthesummer · 06/07/2022 15:10

It’s playing out just as I thought - and Goldsmith just floated the idea of rejoining the customs union by accident?! I think not.

If anyone is basing this on what Conservative voters have said, surely they realise that anyone voting Conservative will tell the pollsters what they think they want to hear.

Look at what happens in elections.

Provenceinthesummer · 06/07/2022 15:12

This is not about Boris and a cake
ffs I despair at the lack of understanding and knowledge
