He is excellent. And a rare spokesman who I think can actually change hearts and minds by being such a clear and unflappable speaker. He is clearly incredibly knowledgable of his brief which is also very rare and has instant facts to hand to combat the criticism.

And I say this as someone who probably didn't support the strikes until I listened to some of his interviews.

mrstea301 · 23/06/2022 13:12

Me! Straightforward, no nonsense and not rising to the bait to provide sound bites, Kay Burley was a bloody joke yesterday. It's interesting as I feel that usually people who rise to his position have had the corners rubbed off, but he is exactly what union members would want in their corner!

GrabbyGabby · 23/06/2022 13:23

This made me giggle

Kay Burley was ridiculous.

Me !
I really admire his calm, measured and knowledgeable approach.
Now watch the media go to town on him and try to dig up some dirt (or make it up).

KangFang · 23/06/2022 13:31

Oh fuck they'll be digging for dirt - for sure.

RusholmeRuffian · 23/06/2022 13:31

Yes, he excellent. We could do with more like him.

AnneLovesGilbert · 23/06/2022 13:32

He’s excellent. Love how ruffled everyone’s getting.

Pedallleur · 23/06/2022 13:33

He stands up for his members rights. back in the day he would be 'Red Mick' like Red Robbo or Red Arthur. if he ran a hedge fund Lynch would prob be feted with a knighthood.

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 23/06/2022 13:34

I think he’s brilliant. I also think it’s brilliant that his Facebook profile pic is The Hood. Clearly an absolute legend and standing up for what’s right for his workers. We need more Mick Lynch types and way fewer Piers Morgan/Kay Burly/Richard Madleys!

Yorkshirebred · 23/06/2022 13:35

I love him and there's a great video of all his epic take downs on twitter ❤️

Tinkerblonde1 · 23/06/2022 13:37

I love him. The Richard Madeley line made me chuckle.

the80sweregreat · 23/06/2022 13:39

I'm a fan
I had him down ( at first) as a bit of a trouble maker, a 1970s type union leader , but I admit his won me over these past weeks and I love how he answers the questions clearly and with figures to back it up. He gave a great interview to Nick Ferrari this morning with respect and honesty. He is clearly very clever.

ClaudineClare · 23/06/2022 13:41

He is brilliant and wiping the floor with all the pro-Tory media. Imagine having someone like him for PM. A Harry Perkins for the 21st century

KangFang · 23/06/2022 13:42

Yes, I think he is very clever and intelligent.
More like him, please.

RedCarsGoFaster · 23/06/2022 13:42

Absolutely. Very impressed by him. Everything screams "competent" and he's very measured. Doing a great job!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 23/06/2022 13:44

When he said he doesn't want the working class people of this country to beg - I loved him!

LC84 · 23/06/2022 13:44

Love how unflappable and clear he is, has all his facts and makes the journalists and politicians he goes up against look really amateur! Viva mick 🤣👍🏽

KonTikki · 23/06/2022 13:44

Well that's the Government screwed then with the likes of Grant Shapps going up against him.

SofiaSoFar · 23/06/2022 13:45

Can't stand him.

You won't see much criticism on here - people daren't speak out if it's criticism of socialist actions - but the voting will soon tell you he's not unanimously supported even on such a left-biased site as this.

TheRoadToRuin · 23/06/2022 13:46

I have been impressed much against my instint though I still don't fully support them. I was a teenager in the 70s and miners and steel strikes.
I saw a photo of Arthur Scargill yesterday, still going strong at 85.

ClaudineClare · 23/06/2022 13:46

Good to see so much consensus. I expect certain posters will be along soon with some irrelevant cut and paste...

TullyApplebottom · 23/06/2022 13:47

I’ve only heard him on Today and he sounded like an absolutely typical 70s/80s trade union specimen. No one other than he and his members matters.
but I am old, old enough to remember when people like him had too much power and were bringing the country to its knees.

DisgruntledPelican · 23/06/2022 13:47

Care to elaborate, @SofiaSoFar ?

Kay Burley was ridiculous.

I've just watched that on youtube. She was dreadful!
