No not that one. Carrie when they were having an affair and he was foreign secretary. Wanted to appoint her yo £100k job she wasn't qualified for and without declaring an interest. Story was in The Tumes but has disappeared. Super injunction??

I personally didn't vote for BJ, and will not at the next election. However, this doesn't make me think any worse of him. I already held him in low regard - it's just yet another action typical of what we have come to expect.

However, I subscribe to The Times, and am shocked that it would pull the story to "protect" BJ. I hope there is another reason, yet to come out, although I cannot think what it might be. The editor obviously approved the original story. Was he leant on?

A super injunction wouldn’t particularly be concerning - at least it has to follow a process and have legal support (whether or not that’s influenced by other factors is debatable).

No super injunction and having that kind of influence on the media is much, much, much scarier.

Indeed. Are there any UK newspapers that Carrie Symond’s family didn’t either found or work for or have links to, I wonder?………..

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 19/06/2022 15:50

I was away to get my tinfoil hat. When I clicked on the photo, mumsnet crashed....and then I couldn't find the post again. Thank goodness it's back. I was imagining the looks I'd get from dh and ds trying to tell them about thisGrin
Nothing that man or the vast majority of the Tory party do would surprise or shock me. Why people keep voting for them I'll never understand. Well, I do but I don't like to think of the reasons as it makes my feel depressed.

Cornettoninja · 19/06/2022 15:52

Sort out your house. Don't allow the Tories to have such a scumbag as a leader! Don't vote for him. That's how you'll get a better leader

I’ve said this on another thread but if the moderate, mostly decent tories who’ve felt compelled to leave over the last few years started tories 2.0 and fully fractured the current party I would absolutely vote for them just to get the rot cleared because it’s encroached on everything.

By nature I’ve rarely leaned towards voting Tory, my local MP is Tory and generally good at his job but chose to back Boris recently at the VONC, but I have cast my vote for him a couple of times. My point being that there is common ground to be found despite political colour and I believe that we need to restore political integrity.

No, though we do have her to thank for Johnson being Foreign Secretary which led to his current position, so…..

And can you imagine if Corbyn had but a Russian donor with links to Putin in the HoL against security service advice.

He's the most unethical man imaginable, based purely on his private life.

How anyone voted for him, I can't imagine.

It's not hard to understand at all. All you have to do is look at the alternative.

looks uhuh, looks like some bog standard politicians as opposed to the reincarnation of Caligula 🤷‍♀️

I've always wondered if Johnson has a super injunction on his ex-wives or adult kids, you never hear from them.

Roussette · 19/06/2022 16:01

I was not a fan of Corbyn because I knew he would not win the party through, but it was awful when they doctored that photo of him with a hat on to look like a Russian hat.

And here we are with one of Putins henchmen in the HoL. Lord of Siberia is his title. He turned up the other day at the HoL. Apparently you have to go at least once in a year. He stood there. And went again. It is absolutely appalling that BJ went against security advice to make him a Lord.

AmaryIlis · 19/06/2022 16:05

BadAtMaths2 · 19/06/2022 12:11

Surely public interest trumps the kids interest in these circumstances. Maybe they are going for libel. Hard to super injunct something screengrabbed all over the Internet....

If it is a superinjunction, I suspect it'll be lifted for this reason. The law isn't keen on them anyway, let alone when they can't achieve anything.

Given that both the Mail and the Times printed this, it's pretty certain that they checked the background before going to Press so my money's on it being correct. I wonder if it had anything to do with Geidt going?

I imagine his wife is just completely done with him - if he was your exH would you ever want to discuss him again?

Changechangychange · 19/06/2022 16:06

Ex-wife! Though Carrie may also be completely done with him Grin

BluOcty · 19/06/2022 16:07

Boris is so gross. The stink of this government Angry

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2022 16:07

Lebedev of course being a handy person to have on side for donations, owner of Evening Standard and able to set up access to Lavrov.

How do you know she wasn't qualified for the job op? She must have been earning £80k + for the job she already had - your link says she was the Conservative Party's director of communications at the time.

The fact that she wasn't appointed gives us a bit of a clue. Someone obviously had some backbone.

Roussette · 19/06/2022 16:08

That is a very interesting thought. I think there is far more to the Geidt departure than we know about.

I don't like the man but there's no viable alternative to vote for, so I'll vote for him again next time

Don't be silly.

You are very polite Amaryllis 😂

rnsaslkih · 19/06/2022 16:10

BJ was not known for his integrity prior to election. He was elected regardless (well in fact because JC was such shit opposition). I am not sure why shady dealings like this are remotely surprising to anyone. If you voted for BJ last time, you knew what he was. You knew he wouldn't even say how many kids he had. You knew about the Brexit bus shenanigans. So no reason not to vote for him again IMO. I didn't vote for him, but find the notion that these scandals would damage him laughable. He was not known for integrity!

noblegiraffe · 19/06/2022 12:50

It's all over Twitter so I can't see what point would be served by taking this thread down.

If there was a super injunction I think they'd have to?

The nature of a super injunction is that no-one can publicise the fact it exists. Therefore if it's been lifted - which is looking rather likely - we also won't know that.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/06/2022 12:56

I am not a lawyer but if there was a superinjunction how did it get into print at all? The New European has it and I'd be very surprised if media based outside the UK didn't run with it.

Because someone was slow off the mark?

RevoltingHumanHead · 19/06/2022 16:12

rumours about Zac and Carrie...

Well it would be true to form for all involved. And he's certainly got a fewbob more than hubby.

BeverForget · 19/06/2022 16:12

Verity edits The Fail, his wife is friends with Carrie, which is why The Fail sticks to nicking stories from MN.
All media is being pressed to spike any stories that threaten 'Big Dog'

LakieLady · 19/06/2022 16:14

I expect Johnson had a chat with his chum Murdoch and got the story pulled.

After all, he can do that now.

Murdoch interference
