Special Father's Day sex

I think I've just offended DH. He asked if he was going to be getting "Father's Day sex" after DS has gone to bed. I thought he was joking, when I realised he wasn't I must have pulled a face.

I understand people talk about birthday sex, valentine's day sex etc but father's day is a day for children to celebrate and appreciate their dads. It's given me the ick but he has no idea what I'm talking about, so I was just interested to see what others think?

To be clear, I'm not adverse to having sex on father's day, just the thought of doing it specially to celebrate it!

I find a lot of people describing their relationships on MN like aliens describing concepts I can barely comprehend: if your DP annoys you, tell them rather than asking whether you should be offended; if they persistently fuck up, have a blazing row and sort it out.

I think if you find your DP trying to initiate sex, or just joking about sex, gross or creepy then you need to break up or have couple's counseling.

OP Yes it does sound weird when it's said like that.... if he's anything like my hubby he was just chancing his luck and made a poor choice in how he asked.

I got the ick from the thread title alone (but couldn’t help myself clicking on it of course).

It’s weird and icky because Father’s Day is celebrated by children and their father. So suggesting celebrating with sex suggests an unpleasant association. To me anyway.

It's definitely not uptight to recoil at the association of sex in the same sentence as Father. It is weird, and clueless of the DH not to know how he sounded.

it must be yet another MN parallel universe thing, I've never heard of the concept of Father's Day sex, but the again I only found out about "Steak and a BJ Day" on here, so looks like my education is now complete

Mine has never asked for it, I don't know how I'd feel about it. In some ways it's ok because sex is how he became a father so it kinda makes sense.
