A bird, not a neighbour for the last part.

AIBU here? My neighbour constantly throws food out to the birds, anything goes. I’m fed up with it,

I'd be more concerned about mice and rats tbh.

BigButtons · 18/06/2022 16:18

Birds shit.
I am always feeding my garden birds. I’m
sure they shit on people but it’s not because I feed them. They shit anyway because they are animals.

EndersGame · 18/06/2022 16:19

Nothing wrong with feeding the birds. Birds also shit at random, it could have happened anywhere. Cover your kid up if you're worried, or don't leave your baby outside.

Staynow · 18/06/2022 16:20

I've been shat on several times before by birds, that's just unfortunately what they sometimes do. I don't like people just leaving food out on the ground though, that will attract mice and rats.

SavoirFlair · 18/06/2022 16:21

The bird could have shat on your baby irrespective of the neighbour feeding it.

There is no causal link here.

But if you want someone to be angry to that is corporeal and not of the animal kingdom, then go right ahead and call accountability with your neighbour.

It might not go how you think though. 😟

nonevernotever · 18/06/2022 16:22

You can't exactly enforce a no fly zone over your baby, sorry. Is this in their garden, your garden or a communal space? Tbh as long as they aren't leaving a build up of food to encourage rats, I think you are being a bit unreasonable.

Circumferences · 18/06/2022 16:22

Is she throwing the food onto your property?

Also, it's good luck if bird poo drops on you.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/06/2022 16:22

Cute little birds or flocks of pigeons and seagulls?

The former YABU. The latter he IBU/

girlmom21 · 18/06/2022 16:22

Bird shit is good luck, don't worry.

MissMaple82 · 18/06/2022 16:23

Get a bloody life ffs!

XenoBitch · 18/06/2022 16:24

YABVU.
Birds shit, and sometimes that shit lands on people.

Saausage · 18/06/2022 16:24

It’s seagulls mostly. A huge flock of them on this occasion. I did tell my neighbour and they apologised but didn’t look impressed when I told them to stop feeding them.

Any help we can give wildlife is good. Give your baby a wash and move on.

Saausage · 18/06/2022 16:25

we both have our own gardens - not communal.

Saausage · 18/06/2022 16:27

I can’t see how it’s unreasonable to expect neighbour not to throw out uneaten dinner for birds. It’s disgusting

HankTheShark · 18/06/2022 16:28

It's very common for people to feed birds; YADBU.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 18/06/2022 16:29

How is your neighbour responsible for a bird shitting on your baby?

oviraptor21 · 18/06/2022 16:29

Feeding seagulls is not great - they don't need feeding and they can be a nuisance. However it's not disgusting and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Saausage · 18/06/2022 16:31

And their cat shits on my freshly laid faux grass. It’s a nightmare. I really don’t want to have to move because of this.

He was a lot politer than I'd have been then.

PattyMelt · 18/06/2022 16:33

If it's Seagulls then YANBU, small garden birds YABU.

Have the birds told you it was disgusting?

Or are you just surmising this because they refuse to eat it? Grin

I'd with you on the cats though, but there's not a lot you can do about it.

countvoncount · 18/06/2022 16:34

Any passing bird can shit at any passing time.
Jesus is it a full moon tonight?
This place is nuts today

AndStand · 18/06/2022 16:34

You are definitely being unreasonable.

Especially now you've said you have "faux grass". Now that's "disgusting".

oviraptor21 · 18/06/2022 16:35

Faux grass?
Sorry - I've moved over to the neighbour's side!
