Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

OP posts:

You know she used to do all the moaning for porn films.

I'm surprised they didn't ask her to do the grunting for Wimbledon as well Grin

Emotionalsupportviper · 10/06/2022 16:51

Oh, thank God @Mountainpika

I thought you were going to say he was a monster!

Mm, sorry Emotionalsupportviper but he came into the bookshop I worked in once and was extremely grumpy. Everybody hates it when I tell this story as no one wants it to be true! (I'm sure he's lovely most of the time - everyone has off days etc)

I had an almost Me Too moment with Craig Charles back in early 90s in Liverpool. I was waiting to meet my boyfriend and he came and hit on me and was quite pushy despite me reiterating I was waiting for a boyfriend. Cocky and at 20 I did not know how to tell him to sling his cocky hook.

He was once charged with rape. He was acquitted and I know false allegations can happen occasionally, but I think of it every time I see him.

Worse celeb tess daly, was very rude and arrogant.
best celeb was rik mayall. I meet him when he was in hospital after he had a bad accident and I was recovering from a double mastectomy. We became friends and he sent me a joke and birthday greetings in a text the day before he died. Really lovely man

R.e. Tess Daly, bit of a random post but if you ever see her on a repeat of Would I Lie to You it won't be a surprise. She does this weird 'power sit' and generally acts like she owns the place. Not a good look.

David Attenborough. Met him when he gave a talk. Younger son had taken one of his books and asked him to sign it. He was just as he appears on tv. Friendly, good with children. A real treasure.

I met him when I was about 9
my dad had dragged us to an event where a ‘childrens personality’ was going to be there
he was so sweet and lovely-I was really disappointed that it wasn’t Timmy mallet or someone and was really rude to him
sorry sir David!

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 10/06/2022 21:26

Tim Dowling -, aloof, a bit chilly
Tim Dowling's wife - warm, friendly, genuine; the kind of woman you immediately want to be your friend

Raymond Blanc - a completely prima donna, acts like Napoleon
Michel Roux - charming, courteous, focused

Gordon Brown - I've met enough politicians to know when they're switching on the man-of-the-people act but Gordon Brown is authentic; he likes people and takes a genuine interest in their lives. Ditto Alan Johnson.

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 10/06/2022 21:27

Oops! COMPLETE prima donna.

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 10/06/2022 21:32

Oh, and Paul Hollywood. Not surprising I forgot him - apart from those piercing blue eyes he is utterly forgettable. Pleasant and friendly but no discernible personality whatsoever.

Patsy Kensit, she threw a tantrum because she turned up late, missed her appointment and screamed 'do you know who I am' at me, I didn't, so she tried to have me fired. I was 16, thanks Patsy

I remember her being on the Richard Osman House of Games, she refused to participate and constantly whined that she would kill her agent for getting her on there. As it was recorded 5 times for the week Osman looked like he could slap her miserable face by the end.

butterflyball91 · 10/06/2022 22:02

@notwavingbutdrowning5 Agree about Gordon Brown, he's a wonderful man who never got a fair run at the job of PM.

hennaoj · 10/06/2022 22:11

Not met him but my years ago my parents bought Jim Davidsons old semi detached house in Torquay. His ex neighbours had nothing nice to say about him!

However the Krankies really are lovely, I remember them staying at my parents guest house in Scotland when I was a child.

Nicole Kidman, she was something else, rude egotistical and to top it off grabby, if something was free she wanted it. Self entitlement was taken to a whole new level in the 6/7 weeks I had the complete displeasure of working with her.

My husband met her a couple of times and he said she was absolutely lovely.

ThomasinaGallico · 10/06/2022 22:16

Seren1tynow · 08/06/2022 22:16

Gok Wan. Rude, nasty prick. Nothing like you’d expect from his TV persona. George Galloway was as horrendous as you’d imagine.

On the flipside, Lulu was lovely and the sweetest celebrity I’ve ever encountered was Gail Porter.

I always found the How to Look Good Naked series creepily voyeuristic and wondered if Gok Wan got a sense of power from it.

Mountainpika · 10/06/2022 22:21

As a Countdown watcher, I'd like to know if anyone has met the current host and what she's like.

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 10/06/2022 22:23

My friend and I followed Mark Owen around the Corn Exchange in Leeds when we were about 14. She loved him, I couldn't have cared less.

He had the price tag hanging out the back of his checked shirt (Top Man, £16.99) so I tapped him on the shoulder to tell him. He turned round with an audible sigh at another silly girl wanting and autograph and was very sheepish when I told him. Ha!

mushroom3 · 08/06/2022 10:01

Rolf Harris, horrible, rude and arrogant
Gary Glitter, very weird and full of himself

Princess Diana and Prince Edward, both lovely

A friend of mine once saw Princess Diana putting petrol in her car.

He said it was about 11pm, so the petrol station was pretty quiet.
He was filling up and as he was replacing the pump, his eyes wandered and he did a genuine double take when he saw her.

She gave him a beautiful smile. He said he fell head over heels in love!

Obsessedwithpizzas · 10/06/2022 23:18

David Amess seemed like such a genuinely lovely man. So awful what happened to him.

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2022 23:41

I got coffee every morning about 8 with Mark Owen and his very small DD. He was knackered but lovely- his weak croak daily of ‘Not lolly time yet darlin’’ will stay with me forever.

MsTSwift · 10/06/2022 23:58

Helena Bonham Carter gave me a lovely smile when I was in a very stressful situation so always liked her.

Tom Hiddleston was polite and helpful when Dh and I were lost (we were wearing just swimming costumes so was slightly cringe scenario ).

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris martins kids ate crisps and fruit shoots regularly when toddlers as my friend and I witnessed this at soft play. Her frequent pontificating about healthy eating made us snigger!

katscamel · 11/06/2022 03:09

I served tea to Desmond Tutu once...I was about 8 or 9 so can't really remember much.
I met Prince Charles and Camilla when doing some training on Zanzibar. He was lovely, down to earth and friendly and reminded me of my dad 😁. Camilla was pretty grumpy but apparently doesn't like the heat and to be honest was wearing the wrong outfit for 30+ degrees.

My brother has met Paul Hollywood and definitely wasn't impressed said he was rude and arrogant. A friend met her later that evening at a function and apparently she was quite friendly.

Bouledeneige · 08/06/2022 00:15

Peter Sissons was very pompous and Jeffrey Archer very patronising. Carol Vorderman and Angela Rippon both a bit dim. Esther Rantzen was all me, me, me.

Oh… I waitressed when Esther R came in and she was extremely kind and decent. I made a mistake and she smiled warmly and made it ok.

SpangledShambles · 11/06/2022 03:43

TonyBlairsLover · 08/06/2022 06:56

Long shot but has anyone met Tony

Oh yes. A very dissolute young man back in the day.

SpangledShambles · 11/06/2022 04:00

van Morrison- puked on my bar regularly when I waitressed. Left it to us to clear while he ordered more drinks. Fair enough- alcoholism - but very arrogant with it.

SpangledShambles · 11/06/2022 04:02

SurfBox · 10/06/2022 11:01

15 and it was late 80s

back then 15 yos in relationships with adults was common/more socially acceptable and 15yos were generally seen more as adults. Having said that him being 60 makes it disgusting.

Huh???
