Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

I wish he was still alive to sue you for this. He'd probably just shake his head sadly though.

Lionel Blair was one of the kindest men I've ever known and did so much genuine charity work.
He's greatly missed by his children and his lovely wife of many decades.

He's a vile man. He made a pass at my friend's nephew who was underage 👏

15 and it was late 80s.

I do wonder how many seemingly-fine older celebrities there are around nowadays about whom we'll only get the full story after they die.

Not the whole Savile, but nevertheless those who have been up to some really vile things and who are 'protected' whilst they're still breathing - maybe because they could bring other, much more powerful people down with them too if the truth was allowed to escape during their lifetime.

SurfBox · 10/06/2022 11:01

15 and it was late 80s

back then 15 yos in relationships with adults was common/more socially acceptable and 15yos were generally seen more as adults. Having said that him being 60 makes it disgusting.

Fedupsotired · 10/06/2022 11:07

@SurfBox really?? I was 15 around that time and I know it wouldn't have been socially acceptable!!!!

I was that age in the late 80s and that's just not true. And 15 year olds were definitely not seen as more like adults than now - much less so when it came to gay relationships, of course, since they were 6 years off the age of consent.

i am 36 and it happened alot back in the 90s/early 00s in my memory.

I haven’t met Kate Middleton but DF met her several times when the Cambridges were having their house in Anmer renovated. He said she was absolutely lovely - down to earth, friendly, polite etc.

Someone mentioned they had met her on a beach in Norfolk on another thread. Said she was really normal, friendly and polite and bought her children ice creams.

What? Teenagers having relationships with 60 year olds? I really dont think so.

Thats really not true.

I was 15 in 1988 and there were a significant proportion of girls at school going out with men in their 20s and 30s (including some teachers.) My sister's first serious boyfriend, when she was 15, was 33. One of my schoolmates was in a Bill Wyman type situation at age 13, fully facilitated by her mother 🤮

Having said that, we lived in a small suburban town - when I've mentioned this sort of thing to people who are a similar age but grew up in cities, they're horrified.

On topic:
Met Terry Pratchett (Mayherestinpeace) and Neil Gaiman (separately) at book signings and they were lovely and chatty to me and my DC.
Met Tommy Boyd once as a child, he was very nice even though the poor sod was just trying to take his own kids round the Natural History Museum.
David Dickinson is an entitled, arrogant prick who treats hotel and restaurant staff like crap.

Really sad to read of Patrick Stewart not being very nice ☹️

katseyes7 · 10/06/2022 13:03

I went out with my best friend's older brother in the mid 70s when l was in my teens. Started seeing him when l was 15, he was 27.
Which sounds bad, but it really wasn't. He was very sweet and shy, he actually blushed speaking to someone he didn't know.
I think we clicked because he got to know me as his sister's friend first, and l was also quiet and shy. It took about 18 months from first meeting him to us having our first date.
He was very polite and had beautiful manners. And he was a perfect gentleman.
I was fairly mature for my age back then, and he'd had a quite restrictive upbringing, so the age gap didn't really matter. Not in personality and outlook, anyway.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/06/2022 13:35

My estimation of him changed somewhat after an edition of Dickinson's Real Deal last week. A chap had taken in some 'vintage' Penthouse magazines to sell - probably quite tame by todays yardstick - and David commented that he was/had been a member of the Penthouse Club. I never knew he was that seedy.

this happened alot back in the 90s and early 00s in Ireland where I grew up and the legal age is 17. But when people say this on mn we get crucified.

Nah I think it was pretty common and accepted back in the day everywhere from what I hear of others even in cities, it was well before safeguarding and police checks etc came into force so generally there was no deterrent.

I watched that Graham Norton show with Miriam.
You know she used to do all the moaning for porn films.

I do agree though I find her very off putting, she has zero self awareness.

She seems to go out of her way to be shocking and lewd. Personally I think she’s got some kind of chip on her shoulder and something to prove. I just find her vulgar and irritating.

I finally lost patience with her when she said on The Last Leg that she wished Boris Johnson dead when he caught covid-And no one else on the show thought that was anything other than hilarious. Cunts.

Gutted that you can't name your DH, but understand 😇
Could we have some of the other names though? am far too invested in this thread now

Patsy Kensit, she threw a tantrum because she turned up late, missed her appointment and screamed 'do you know who I am' at me, I didn't, so she tried to have me fired. I was 16, thanks Patsy

I've never liked patsy Kensit, she always seems to carry an expression that she's smelled something nasty 🙁

Been in touch with a few of my mates (me and they are all low celebs (dancers/backing singers /runners/make up artists tests etc😂 we are so so very important 🤣🤣😂) and they allsay the same things..
Awful:

Holly and philip
Cilla Black (hope she has gone to heaven as she was such bitch) also her son who found her was a awful man) but he has all of her inheritance so that is a good thing.

David Attenborough. Met him when he gave a talk. Younger son had taken one of his books and asked him to sign it. He was just as he appears on tv. Friendly, good with children. A real treasure.

Emotionalsupportviper · 10/06/2022 16:51

I thought you were going to say he was a monster!

Saw Rowan Atkinson in Cornwall, stood outside a pub, looking out at everyone with a "fuck off" look on his face, really not sure why he was stood there, slightly elevated from the street, so everyone noticed him if he wanted to be left alone 😂

Ian Smith (Harold Bishop in Neighbors) is absolutely lovely, he used to go to the same archery club as me, bollocked me every week for smoking and tried very hard to get me to quit!

Ha, that's very funny re Harold Bishop. I worked in a London department store during my gap year (a v. long time ago!) and he came in one day. He was very nice, but also clearly gagging for a cigarette as he asked if he could smoke in the store and looked very disappointed when I said no 😂
