Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

And I'm a big fan of Helena Bonham Carter 😄

CounsellorTroi · 08/06/2022 13:56

Only genuinely rude person was Thora Hird. This was maybe 40 years ago when she was filming that Sally Army comedy in Leeds and I went to ask her for an autograph and she ticked me off for interrupting. Still was probably deserved.

If you actually went to pester her for an autograph while she was working, then yes, it was deserved.

Ds (through work) says that Kier Starmer is one of the most decent and principled people he has ever come across.

A barrister friend of mine says the same about Keir Starmer.

loupiots · 08/06/2022 14:12

Met a few through work.

Gwyneth Paltrow - exactly as irritating as you would imagine, although not horrible at all; just makes you eye roll a lot.

Chris Martin - I can see how people might take him the wrong way, but he's actually a perfectly nice bloke. Just not particularly socially adept, so he can seem awkward and sort of off.

Angela Rippon was absolutely charming. Very head girl but just so nice with it.

Annie Lennox - lovely.

Jeremy Clarkson - what a utter prick.

Rod Liddle - (not really a celeb) - genuinely one of the most unpleasant people I've ever come across. Absolute wanker.

RIchard Hammond - thought he'd be a dick, but was actually really lovely.

George Alagiah had every single woman (and man, come to that) in the room swooning within about 5 minutes, and left me with a massive crush on him :)

Lulu - oh god help me; every shitty thing you've read about her is absolutely true. Boo.

Victoria Beckham - super funny and down to earth. Nothing at all like her public persona.

ethelredonagoodday · 08/06/2022 14:15

Not me, but one of my friends had the misfortune to be in the VIP area (in a business capacity) for a Royal Variety Performance (or similar), with Amanda Holden. She asked for them to be moved away from her. Unfortunately for AH, my friend was representing one of the show's sponsors...

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/06/2022 14:17

Carol Thatcher - lovely and very genuine, just like she was on I'm a Celebrity. I met her in a professional capacity but it turned out that we were parked next to each other in the car park so had a long chat as we were about to leave. Down to earth and such a nice woman.

My friend once saw Bob Geldof haggling in a charity shop.
Please tell me that the charity shop employee's response was "Give us the fucking money"!
😂😂😂

Prince William and Kate. Right up there own bums looking down at me when I met them

Vanessa Feltz is such a lovely lady. I met her many times.through work when I was very junior in the 1990's. She is exactly as she seems on TV.

Weird, because I've met her three times through work and she was vile. Really rude and dismissive. Her partner was very nice though.

I know. In my defence I was only 7. The other actress filming was Patsy Rowlands and I was very excited as she had been in the Carry on Films! They were filming outside the Post Offcie at Moor Allerton shops in Leeds. I hadnt thought of that place for forty years so lots of nice memories

vera99 · 08/06/2022 14:29

I feel these blanked everyone on set actor disses to be a bit unfair. It's a difficult job and requires a special sort of skillset so when one is getting ready for a part they may want to be in their zone and could appear unfriendly. That said a friend met Ian McKellen and Judi Dench at a charity do Gandalf was a self-important arse but Ms Dench was lovely I hear. I saw the great Sir when he was well over 50 sitting in the auditorium with his crush at the time who looked barely out of his teens. A tad creepy as he was all over him....

Kanaloa · 08/06/2022 14:29

I think it’s different if it’s a 7 year old. Much as if a 7 year old approached you in the supermarket while you were on the phone you’d be fine with it but if it was an adult you’d think they were rude. It could have been conveyed in a polite/nice way since obviously it’s an excited little kid.

BobDear · 08/06/2022 14:35

I work in film/tv and seem to have worked with a lot of men...

Ray Winstone - Utterly lovely
Damien Lewis - Lovely
Ashley Walters - Lovely
Paul Anderson - Utterly lovely
Daniel Mays - lovely
Brad Pitt - Utterly lovely
Russell Crowe - Arsehole
James Corden - Arsehole
Elizabeth Hurley - Somewhere in the middle

Aiaichipsnpie · 08/06/2022 14:38

Me personally? Most despicable celeb I’ve ever met is Ian Botham - utter twunt. A friend of mine is an agent and says the worst she’s met is Tom Holland.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 14:39

I went to a family member's graduation and they were also conferring honorary degrees on three well-known men (I hadn't heard of the first two myself, as I didn't move in lofty-enough circles, but they were obviously highly-regarded and much respected in their fields).

Those first two chaps came up in turn and gave engaging, witty speeches, relating genuine, fascinating memories and anecdotes, all coming back to how very much the university meant to them and what a great honour it was to be recognised by and officially associated with such a marvellous institution.

The third man was Martin Amis, who blethered on monotonously for ages about how great he was and thus how very honoured the university should feel that he had deigned to accept their bauble.

The internet can be a very 'interesting' source of knowledge.

If anyone remembers Sister Wendy, an art historian and nun, she was a horror. She went around with Delia Smith. Jeffrey Archer was a pain.

Helen Flanagan is awful! She was incredibly rude to a colleague - on the other hand I spent an afternoon with Alesha Dixon once and she was just the nicest human!

You see . I had the exact opposite - literally bumped into her in a very large department store when I was there to do some IT work - massive lovely smile, quick chat and she was off.

I met Tom Fletcher from Mcfly when heavily pregnant with an 18 month old toddler.., it was a Waterstones book thing and he just wasn't at all like i imagined he'd be!

He didn't interact with my toddler and wasn't very friendly when I asked him about having 2 under 2!

I just thought he'd be nicer.

My sister met sam fender and said he was a total prick.. Lewis capaldi was amazing and so down to earth!

Also the sinner man off the chase... he had such a good time at newcastle uni waived his fee apparently!

Tom Fletcher was in the park with his kids when my son was younger and told them to give my son a turn on the piece of play equipment. He seemed like a nice normal dad (we didn’t speak - I vaguely recognised him as a celebrity but only worked it out later).

Redannie118 · 08/06/2022 15:00

Paula Yates in The Tube days. Utterly vile. You could hear her screaming at staff from down the corridor. Everyone hated her.
Alan Carr- very unfriendly and standoffish. Turned his back when a fan tried to take his photo.
Very lovely people-
Norman Wisdom
Gazza( in 80s while still a huge star)
Mark Addy
Keith Flint
Ricky Gervais
Michael Macintyre
Danny Dyer

SabrePrattler · 08/06/2022 15:02

Top intel, @JemimaPuddlegoose. Disappointed to hear that Matthew MacFadyen. Bertie Carvel sounds utterly gross. Georgia Tennant sounds as though she needs a firm boot up the arse.

*Cillian Murphy: Another in the sweet and humble category

Really? He was a raging little cunt in his early days.

Shoulddobetta123 · 08/06/2022 15:13

I met Angela Rippon outside Harrods, when I came up to London as a wide eyed country girl. She told me off for staring, and said ' do I look like a monkey in a zoo!
I still remember that from over 45 years ago.
Babysat for Nigel Dempster, charming and gave me a hefty tip.
Met Keir Starmer last week, was ok but quite vanilla.
Heard Ellie Goulding was up herself from a close friend who worked with her.
Met Boris Karloffs widow as a young nanny. While trying to make conversation she asked where I was from. I told her & she said,
'I once passed through there on a train!' 😅

Pipsquiggle · 08/06/2022 15:14

About 10 years ago I went on a hen do, where the hen was a TV producer and so were a lot of her mates.

I asked the same question, they said most of the celebs were OK / normal people. There was not a lot of love for Frank Skinner.

I am so glad Lorraine Kelly and Stephen Fry have not been mentioned by anyone - if they turned out to be awful, I would be very sad.
