Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

This was years ago. I chatted with Nicole Kidman a couple of times in the old playground in Kensington Gardens. She was disguised in a black wig and was with the DD she adopted with Tom Cruise. I didn’t let on I recognised her and she was perfectly normal and nice.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/06/2022 12:48

My mum's met a few:

Twiggy - says she was rude as she made a dress for her but she didn't pay/wasn't thankful.
Roger Moore - charming
an older type man in a Bentley (British actor) who apparently drove her home and her dog and gave dog food, don't know name

David Walliams - asked cousin of SIL's out when she worked or was eating at The Ivy and then she flew out to LA and discovered he was cheating on her and she flew back, she was at least 15 years younger than him too.

I used to see people like Zoe Ball, Lily Allen etc all the time in London where we worked - nothing good or bad to say about them, quite normal.

Noel Gallagher - once hid behind counter of fish and chip shop in Marylebone where we went after a dance class - we honestly couldn't have cared less who he was so that came across as a bit twattish.

Brand New Heavies - ex male platonic friend grew up with them - they seem ok but a bit 'music biz' types. He also grew up with Jay Kay.

Used to work with George Clarke - nice enough guy, lovely eyes but a bit up himself.

My auntie used to be a fairly well known model in early/mid 1970s - she was very close friends with Robert Palmer (said he was lovely, she has a photo taken with him as friends) and met various people like Freddie Mercury (in photoshoot for sunday supplement magazine) - said he was lovely and vast majority of them were.

Family friends rented out their Cheyne Walk house to Jack Nicholson - said he was very nice.

One of the brothers - youngest I think of the Miss World family fame - was a close friend of DB's when young - nice enough man but you could tell he thought it was great his money and fame could get him anywhere...

My DM also got work for Dave Allen (voiceover) said was nice, and used to know Jan Pienkowski and some others - said lovely. DM worked in advertising so knew a few people who started out unknown then got famous. Justin de Villeneuve who she knew (DH of Twiggy) said to be vile.

I met Jimmy Savile as a kid as I fund raised for him once - nothing good or bad and was too young but he certainly wasn't the laugh a minute man on TV.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 12:51

@SpidersAreShitheads Grin

He was absolutely lovely and took it very well when I accidentally touched his bum

Did he come and smile? Glad he wasn't shy; he must realise that this is life.

CulturePigeon · 08/06/2022 12:59

I'm so pleased to hear that Keir Starmer is nice. My sister has worked with him and would concur. Too nice and genuine a man to succeed in politics, though, I fear.

JudgeJ · 08/06/2022 13:04

A relative taught the son of Stuart Hall many years ago, he said to the class The boys stay behind for a couple of minutes and we'll pick the team for Saturday's match. The son, about 9, piped up My father says one picks one's nose, one selects a football team.
Probably not so pompous about his father these days.

yellowbananasinjuly · 08/06/2022 13:06

@CulturePigeon the comedienne you speak of wouldnt have a name that rhymes with Sworn Bench would she ?

@Tutchytutchyfeelyfeely great stories - is there a link to the first thread?

I know someone who worked with Prince Andrew in the military. Apparently he was a nightmare, would only engage with seniors. He said to the Captain, 'You may call me Andrew' to which the Captain replied 'You may call me Sir'

A family member served on HMS Edinburgh with him. Doesn't have one good word to say about Andrew, despite seeing him every day for 3 months.

Princess Anne, however, seems pretty good. My exes' job brought him into contact with her fairly regularly, and I've met her twice through work. She is sharp, droll, and very engaged/well briefed. I do like her.

I am friends with a very well known sportsman. Catch him on an average day and he's absolutely lovely and would be friendly and kind to fans. Catch him on a day when he's focused or injured etc and he'd be a right grump. I know I'd be exactly the same. Very few people are sweetness and light all the time.

I think your description of the sportsman would apply to everyone, we all have good/bad days.
A few years ago I bumped into a woman in a door way and said Oh, sorry; She stared at me and sneered Don't you know who I am? I said No, sorry, I genuinely didn't know who she was and I still don't nor do I care.

My cousin went to school with Jodie Comer and Katarina Johnson-Thompson and said that they were awful. Real "mean girl" vibe and very arrogant.
To be honest I'm a bit gutted about that to be honest, especially JC and am hoping she's exaggerating or they were young and silly and have grown up a bit now.

Never heard anybody have a good word to say about Jim Davidson. I went to watch him recording a show once and he obsessed about a (very young looking) backing singer called Daisy, leering and making awful comments about getting her into bed.
She looked so uncomfortable 😬

I’ve heard before that Jodie Comer was a school bully. Very off putting when you hear that. Fiona (can’t remember her surname) who used to front a morning show was a self confessed school bully, was never able to watch her again after that.

Only really famous person I’ve randomly met was Angelina Jolie and she was lovely and not at all up herself.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/06/2022 13:23

Oh another one from me - the late Prince Philip - stepdad worked for National Maritime Museum where Prince was a patron or something, said he was always lovely, charming etc.

My DM also met Tracy, Marchioness of Worcester through work in teaching, said she was lovely.

Testarossa44 · 08/06/2022 13:24

Going back a fair bit now, but a friend and I were big Michael Flatley fans (I know 😏) we'd been to watch one of his shows and decided to wait at the stage door for a chance to see him up close, along with some other fans. We waited nearly 2 hours, they're was only about 8 of us left by this time. He finally came out, his security tried to usher him to his car. He saw us all waiting and came straight over to us, spent about 20 mins or so, asking what we thought about the show, signed all our programs, posed for photos, before thanking us all before he did then leave. He does have a big stage ego, but just seemed so genuine and down to earth when he took the time to chat to us.

FilterWash · 08/06/2022 13:26

I can't get past anyone expecting that JIM DAVIDSON would be anything other than an utter c*nt

XelaM · 08/06/2022 13:26

A QC I am very good friends with was leading on a case where Clooney's wife Amal was the junior barrister. He said she was lovely and very pretty, but VERY VERY junior and he laughed when he saw she was on the "most influential lawyers" list. He himself is a superstar QC though and one of the nicest people I have ever worked with.

I also worked in New York for a law firm that represented Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson (in different matters). They had many stories to tell about Trump.

My mum's best friend married a huge Russian celebrity over 50 years older than her 😂

BorderlineHappy · 08/06/2022 13:28

Not me but my dp delivered a package to Shane McGowan and said he was the loveliest man.
And he gave him a decent tip.

XelaM · 08/06/2022 13:30

I also worked with someone who was really good friends with Kier Starmer and said he was a very nice guy. He also knew David Davis who he said was an utter moron.

nevergoingback · 08/06/2022 13:32

Bez is exactly what you see , lovely

jonny Vegas is a really lovely guy

Jeremy corbyn super sweet

Cannon and bobby ball ( really nice but pushed religion a bit too much for me )

Robbie williams is really lovely ( and looks after his old friends !)

Clint boon utter letch

Bob geldolf utter twat ( other band members lovely)

Captain sensible, Really lovely slightly egotystical and off his tits frequently

JemimaPuddlegoose · 08/06/2022 13:34

Matthew McFayden (went quite out of his way to be actively unpleasant to extras on a TV set, when he could have just ignored them)

Georgia Tennant (phoned up the production office of a low budget indie film her husband was starring in and screamed at them for tweeting a set photo, demanded a clause in the contract if the film had a premiere or screening anywhere in the world they had to be given first class plane tickets for six people plus 5* hotel accommodation for the entire family, which basically killed the film dead since they couldn't submit the film to any indie festivals as they wouldn't have been able to afford the Tennant family travel costs. This is a film she had no connection to other than her husband working on it. In a separate occasion tried to get someone working at Radio 1 fired for tweeting a photo of her husband visiting the studios for a live interview - she seems to just obsessively monitoring everything said about her husband on Twitter)

Bertie Carvel (utter sleaze, tries to get young actresses to have threesomes with he and his wife while the wife is crying to those same actresses about how awful he is and that he's not doing more to make her famous)

Patrick Stewart (overtly blanked crew working on the RSC Hamlet)

Martin Freeman (the only actor in a West End play to kick up a fuss about and refuse permission for the set designer wanting to use the play's official promo photos in their portfolio, which is completely standard. Everyone on that play thought he was a twat)

All of these were on sets or backstage in theatre in a professional capacity, none of them were fan encounters or approaching celebs out of the blue.

Billie Piper clearly didn't want to be bothered but cleverly got rid of me by introducing me to a friend of hers who does the same job as me (but much more successful) and who ended up being really helpful in my career. Not mad at Billie at all, she handled a situation where she didn't want to be approached well.

I was in the same room as Rylan and didn't really know who he was since I don't watch reality shows, but he was extremely nice and courteous even to people who obviously didn't recognise him.

XelaM · 08/06/2022 13:35

A colleague of mine sat next to Katie Archibald at a cycling dinner and said she was absolutely lovely and such a good laugh

chipsarnie · 08/06/2022 13:36

All in a professional capacity-

Simon Cowell: Very odd. Kind of robotic.
Barbara Windsor: Absolutely lovely. Called me 'darlin''. We talked for ages about Bethnal Green and Hackney.
Ainsley Harriot: Exactly like he is on TV
Roger Daltrey: Very down-to-earth. Absolutely radiates 'rock legend'.
Ant and Dec: Met them a few times professionally in their early days post-Byker. They were really very nice young lads. I was in a restaurant a few years ago - and they saw me, remembered me and they came over to say hello! I'd seen them earlier in the evening but didn't want to bother them.
Peter Andre: A genuinely nice guy. I've worked with him many times. Very dignified (considering the er, domestic issues he was having at the time), thoughtful and professional.
Claudia Winkelman: Approachable and a good laugh.
Miriam Margoyles: Bonkers, in a good way.

The nearest I've got to 'worst celebrity' was Myleene Klass: Gave me a look of horror and then silently stared at the floor when she got into a lift I was in and I asked her which floor she wanted. I can't blame here because I do look like a bit of a psycho (18 stone gorilla-like man with a shaved head). For all I know she's still in the lift staring at the floor.

I have met the King of Spain, but didn't recognise him 🙈It's honestly one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, as he was standing next to the President of Portugal and I confused the two

many Brits wouldn't recognise them, they are hardly the British royal family who are never off the media.

Yes, but this was in Madrid and I knew he was attending the event. I should have looked him up 😬and he is very handsome (now that I realise who he was 😂). I thought the President of Portugal who was standing next to him was King Felipe. I still cringe at myself remembering the scene

JemimaPuddlegoose · 08/06/2022 13:48

Angelina Jolie and Helena Bonham Carter both brought their kids into my old workplace, many years ago. Completely normal and just in mum mode, making sure their kids had a good time.

grlwhowrites · 08/06/2022 13:48

Hearing Anthony Head is a gem makes me so happy bc I'm a die hard Buffy fan and I loveeee Giles.

Giraffesandbottoms · 08/06/2022 13:49

Iwan Rheon’s mum goes to the same hair salon as me. I’ve never spoken to her but staff say she is lovely

she’s not really a celebrity though is she 😃

That reminds me, Helena Bonham Carter is (very closely) related to someone I used to work with. He was my boss so I didn't want to ask too many questions, but they hung out a lot.

TurtlesAndTropicalFish · 08/06/2022 13:53

I met Boy George at a club and I told him I was a massive fan, he just snorted and shooed me away. Maybe I was too enthusiastic, I don’t know. But I can’t enjoy his songs anymore which is a shame
