Dad in women's loo .

1000 replies

HappyDays40 · 04/06/2022 14:02

I have been to the loo in Mc Donald's and was mid flow when a dad walks in with his daughters aged about 4 and 6.He stands waiting while his daughters are using the toilet. I came out and said you are not supposed to be in here.
He said he had to take his daughters to the loo and I told him that he needed to either wait outside or take them the mens. He said they don't need to see that and I told him that he shouldn't be hanging round in women's toilets for any reason. His sense of entitlement gave me the rage so I told a member of staff. I can only imagine how triggering that could be for some women. Intrusive fucker.

Would you be happy about sending little boys of 4 and 6 into the Gents on their own?

Would you feel comfortable supervising your sons in the gents (assuming you’re female)?
Why is it so many men feel comfortable/ entitled taking their daughters not the womens because this entitlement doesn’t seem to go both ways?

Spikeyball · 04/06/2022 16:54

"Men look after children a lot more now a days and this is a good thing. We need more family loos and changing rooms."

I have seen a lot of people saying there needs to be more but apart from situations where there is a business interest, there won't be unless people campaign for them.

SarahSissions · 04/06/2022 16:54

It’s intrusive. What he should’ve done was say in a loud voice “is anyone in here, I want to bring my daughters in”. When he found there were women in there, waited outside until it was empty and then gone in. It’s not hard.

I live in the UK, I have lived in Pakistan and the states, I’ve also travelled quite a bit. I’ve only ever seen ones that look like below, with either barriers between, or deep sided.

But there are also urinals in the U.K. that are troughs.

Massive overreaction. YABVU. And ridiculous. Hmm

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 16:55

@KangarooKenny, you missed the point. Of course there are both cubicles and urinals in men's loos.

Depending on the layout of the men's loos, a side view of penises might well be possible en route to the cubicles.

🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
That is not the point!
Can you even read and assimilate information properly?
Are you bothering to read the posts here?

I note you haven’t responded to many points made to you because you have no good answer.

I’m not answering everything because it going too fast for me to see everything.

But this man actually had his 4yr old and 6yr old daughters with him…so logically and evidently not an excuse and not a predator.

So what!
Other men could say they were waiting for a child, and nobody would
challenge it if it was considered ok.

Very easy route in for predators, and also easy to go undetected for longer.

AmaryIlis · 04/06/2022 16:57

They can say what they like but local policy does not trump the law.

But what law is it that local policy doesn't trump, @Soapboxqueen?

Rosehugger · 04/06/2022 16:57

You know I'm so glad that all sexual predators have it tattooed on their forehead so it's so easy to sift the good men from the bad and only let the good ones into the women's toilets. No fear of any issues there.

Jesus, the sheer stupidity and naïvety is making me so angry.

PurpleButterflyWings · 04/06/2022 16:57

FFS, he wasn't standing there with a periscope peering over the top of the toilet doors trying to see women having a shit! So many overreactions on here. Good grief! Hmm

georgarina · 04/06/2022 16:58

WTF
Was actually just randomly thinking about this!
When I was little my dad would take me to the men's, make me shut my eyes and carry me into a stall.
No way would he have gone into the women's.

SageCardy · 04/06/2022 16:58

I would rather little girls be taken into the men's toilets under the protection of their fathers, than potentially unaccompanied little girls being faced with men in the women's toilets, because men in the women's toilets has become normalised.

And it will become normalised, it IS becoming normalised, because 15-20 years ago this thread subject would have never even come up- the idea of it would have been unthinkable.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 16:59

The idea that the disabled loo is fine to occupy if the rest of the loos are unavailable for whatever reason is one that needs to be knocked over the head very firmly, @ThatsALotOfPassionfruit.

Discovereads · 04/06/2022 16:59

Quincythequince · 04/06/2022 16:10

So now women’s toilets are unsafe too?

Clearly there’s an infrastructure problem in the Uk, needs fixing obviously.

And in the meantime, women’s SSS should be maintained and respected.

Don’t know what you mean by infrastructure. But it’s not safe to let 4 & 6 yr old girls go into a public toilet alone.

Whostoblame · 04/06/2022 17:00

As the mum to a daughter of a similar aged girl, I applaud the dad who did this. It wasn't some bloke in there randomly perving, you can't see anything as it's all stalls anyway? But a dad looking after his girls making sure they're safe. I don't want my daughter being took in a men's toilet with Willy's all around.
Do you feel the same about male cleaners in toilets? Clearly all pervy rapists, why else would they be there?! He probably felt way more uncomfortable being in there than you felt with him there, he's just safeguarding his daughters.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 04/06/2022 17:00

Quincythequince · 04/06/2022 16:33

They don’t do that.
They wait until it’s empty.

No, they don't always wait.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 17:01

@Soapboxqueen, if you can close your eyes and visualize the urinals women use in the women's loos, or the chamber pots arrayed on the floor, then your comment on empathy holds true.

A lot of stupid people on here for sure.

Clearly no inisight into how this may end up being a much bigger problem.

Men hanging around the ladies, even in the ladies…no problem at all. He can legitimately be there because of x, y, z

🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Name me one sexual predator that has attacked anyone in a woman’s toilet while he also has his two young daughters with him? Let me guess, the answer is zero. Really tired of the manphobia on here.

Theluggage15 · 04/06/2022 17:02

Funny how so many men seem to manage with their daughters without invading female only space. We have a boy and girl, they were taken in the men’s by my husband when I wasn’t around. Some people just love the patriarchy.

Quincythequince · 04/06/2022 17:02

coffeecupsandfairylights · 04/06/2022 17:00

No, they don't always wait.

Well they should be.
Report this when it happens, it’s not good enough.

HazelNutterButter · 04/06/2022 17:02

He should have used the disabled toilet. I would have been raging to see a man in the women’s toilets!! Totally overstepping.

Exactly, well said.

And I repeat, if men's loos are unsafe or too unclean for a father to take young children of any sex then this is an issue for men to sort out. Men cannot just unilaterally decide to occupy our spaces because their own are unsuitable.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 04/06/2022 17:02

RosieRooster83 · 04/06/2022 16:42

@IstayedForTheFeminism That's really lovely what that man did. Were you tempted to rush in yourself?

Of course I was, I asked the man if I should come in and help. We agreed I shouldn't unless I had to. I did keep the door open half an inch so I could hear them though (at his suggestion). If I'd felt they were unsafe at any point I would have gone in, or if DS had been getting distressed and unable to listen to the man I would have gone in.
