AIBU?

Dad in women's loo .

1000 replies

HappyDays40 · 04/06/2022 14:02

I have been to the loo in Mc Donald's and was mid flow when a dad walks in with his daughters aged about 4 and 6.He stands waiting while his daughters are using the toilet. I came out and said you are not supposed to be in here.
He said he had to take his daughters to the loo and I told him that he needed to either wait outside or take them the mens. He said they don't need to see that and I told him that he shouldn't be hanging round in women's toilets for any reason. His sense of entitlement gave me the rage so I told a member of staff. I can only imagine how triggering that could be for some women. Intrusive fucker.

Because half naked women washing knickers in the sink or actually exposing themselves while dressing is vanishingly rare…many of us have never once seen it. Read all the posts saying it…there’s literally centuries of lived experience if you add up all our ages saying we have not once seen this hypothetical scenario in real life.

Whereas men using the urinals in a mens toilet is not only common, but constant. Its not a hypothetical “what if” that almost never happens.

Ah, but when a man posts about using a toilet he is wrong and apparently we’re all doing the helicopter. You don’t accidentally see a penis in the toilets.

If my lived experience doesn’t count, guess what, neither does yours.

Yabu with a 4 year old hes far better off in the womens with cubicles than the urinals.

And I say that as a supporter of womens safe spaces.

Why not?

Because exposing a breast isn’t a crime, for a start.

So if a woman purposely exposed her breasts to flash children in a public place that wouldn’t be a crime? Right…

And I'm sure the DDs would not suffer too much if they saw the odd exposed dick.

Are you for real? Seriously?

What's going to happen to them?

They're chaperoned by a hopefully attentive dad. They will have been warned probably and told to look the other way.
The men at the urinals have their penises out for a reason, not for something sinister.

I believe the crime of indecent exposure is confined to genitals.

So you’ve changed your mind and now urinating and good parenting can go together.

Nope my mind remains as it always was - good parenting and urinating are perfectly compatible .

However, As a young girl I would have felt uncomfortable and unsafe if my dad took me into the men’s urinals. As I said, I was sexually abused as a child, / rape survivor, so perhaps I am over sensitive .

When my DD’s dad is out with my girls I would appreciate it if he would find a time/ place to urinate that didn’t involve taking my young girls into the men’s urinals. I should think that would be possible , but maybe I am wrong/ unrealistic there.

please could you leave me alone now? Personally I don’t think it’s a good look for you - as a man - to come into a discussion about VAW/G , and twist my words to make a mockery out of them/ me and discredit my perspective

I have repeatedly tried to end this line of communication and you have continued to mock / harass me for your own entertainment.

It’s also a bit disturbing to me that you, a man, are arguing so passionately to have little girls in the mens toilet btw

this. And he’s a bully and I wish he would get off this thread.

How many men have you surveyed? Why does taking me children to the toilet make me passionate about having children in the mens toilets? Does it make mums passionate about taking children to the womens toilets?

I believe it can be prosecuted as outraging public decency, though.

Ah yes, because you taking your children to the toilet is okay, but me taking mine is disturbing. I hope your childrens dad is banned from ever taking them to the toilet as clearly if he did that would be most disturbing.

It would be an uphill struggle to get a jury to believe a breast is lewd or obscene when they were on page 3 of a tabloid for decades.

Riiight 4yr and 6yr old girls are not going to be at all confused by the difference between flashing in a mens room or on the street. Shouldn’t they just “look away” when it’s not in a mens toilet too? Perhaps we just need to give that solution to older girls and women to just “look away” when flashed anywhere? After all, what going to happen to them? It’s just a naked penis. Not like the man’s even touching them. Cannot understand all the minimising going on here and the thinking it’s a good idea to teach little girls that it’s their responsibility to “look away” from a naked penis.

Again, curious as to your first hand knowledge of mens toilets. I take it you want all boys banned from womens changing rooms, as it not only exposes girls to penis’, but boys are then being taught that its their responsibilty to look away to keep themselves safe.

It is offensive generally to men to make out that most men's toilets are not suitable places for young children. It suggests that a majority of men are incapable of behaving appropriately around small children. Some may be, but many fathers (probably the majority) take their young children of both sexes into the men's toilets without any problems at all. No doubt they would take exception to being viewed as negligent parents. It is inappropriate to try to shut down Simonjt as 'disturbing' just because he is arguing that many of the concerns suggested on here are unfounded.

The difference is that womens toilets have private cubicles. No one is regularly getting their genitals out in the common area unlike in the mens toilets. You cannot directly compare the two as if it is the same situation in regards to risk of being flashed by the opposite sex.

And yet we mothers of boys teach our boys that it is their responsibility to look away from women and girls getting changed. And that seems a 'good idea' to respect everyone's privacy.
