Just out of interest

OP posts:

I was 61 when mine died. If they hadn’t left starting a family comparatively late for those days, I could easily have been 70 or thereabouts. If I live to the same age as my mum, my son will be 76 - or 78 if I live to the age my dad did.

Onlyhuman123 · 30/05/2022 12:52

yes. both mine...well DM is on palliative care but both alive.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 30/05/2022 12:53

I hope so! I'd be content to live to see my children hit 50. That would made me 76-80yo.

Iheartmysmart · 30/05/2022 12:54

I’m 55 in a couple of months and I have an older sister. Both our parents are still alive and in their late 70’s and early 80’s. We also have a living grandparent who is 96 (not the Queen)!

Nw22 · 30/05/2022 12:54

My dads parents are thankfully both alive. He is 60.

GreatCuppa · 30/05/2022 12:54

My DGF is still alive at 93, my DM is almost 70. I feel very lucky to still have a grandparent.

eosmum · 30/05/2022 12:55

My husband.

Lost my own mum a few weeks ago.

ForestFae · 30/05/2022 12:55

My mum lost her dad when she was 56 I believe.

countrygirl99 · 30/05/2022 12:57

Until last January both DH and I (both 63). Lost dad in Jan but we still have the 3 between us, all with significant needs and an hour away in opposite directions.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 30/05/2022 12:57

My mum is 61 and has both parents aged 82 still alive although her dad is struggling with dementia but he's fit and gets about.

My dads (64) parents died a few year back of cancer and heart failure.

Mils (58) mum alive which is 80. Very for and well. Dad died of a stroke 5 years ago.

Fil (58) parents both alive. Both in their early 80s now but both struggling with cancers and early signs of dementia.

Horological · 30/05/2022 12:57

Both my parents are alive and I am 60.

It's an interesting question but reminds me a bit of those questions that people warn about on MN and Facebook such as, what's your mother's maiden name or your dog's name? People are always advised not to respond because they are fishing for password info. Lots of people use their parents' birth years as PIN numbers etc.

Sorry OP, it was just a passing thought and it's an interesting question!

Harrysutton · 30/05/2022 12:57

My mum had both parents until she was in her mid 60s.

WildCoasts · 30/05/2022 12:57

My husband is over 55 and both this parents are alive. I'm coming up 50 and just lost my last grandparent last year. My parents are still alive.

MrsMikeWazowski · 30/05/2022 12:58

My MIL had both of her parents until she was 59, almost 60. And my godfather is 60 with both of his parents still alive. Sadly this has not been the case for my biological family members.

BumblelionBum · 30/05/2022 12:59

I feel very lucky to have 3 grandparents and both parents at 40. Parents are mid 60’s.

Freeme31 · 30/05/2022 12:59

PoleFairy · 30/05/2022 12:59

MrsGluck · 30/05/2022 13:02

My DP is 58 with both parents still living. They are in their 90s and in poor health, but still here.

ChickenRat · 30/05/2022 13:06

My uncle is 56 and both of my grandparents on that side are still alive, so that's one. Trying to think if I know of any others and I'm not sure actually

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/05/2022 13:07

Mum my had both of her parents still alive at that age

10HailMarys · 30/05/2022 13:07

I'm the youngest in my family so not 55 but my sister's 55 and both our parents are still alive. Her husband's the same age as her and his parents are both still alive as well. Both my mum's parents were still alive when she was in her early 60s.

XelaM · 30/05/2022 13:10

My mum's parents passed away when she was 64 - one at 85 and the other at 86 within less than a year of each other. Both were completely unexpected and unrelated deaths. They were both still fairly healthy without any long-term illnesses.

Mia85 · 30/05/2022 13:10

My mum had both parents (generally in good health and living in their own home) until her dad died when she was 67. Her mum died 3 years later when she (my mum) was 70.

JorisBonson · 30/05/2022 13:10

Yes, MIL. Her parents are both late 70's and amazing.
