To be annoyed over a tub of egg mayo?

Squiff70 · 15/05/2022 12:25

Yesterday morning we went shopping. We got lunch supplies for the next few days. I chose egg mayo as a sandwich filler and DP chose deli meats like chorizo.

I've just come to make lunch and found he's eaten my egg mayo. A full fucking tub. He has been known to pile it high on sandwiches but only after he's asked if we can share. This time he didn't ask.

I can't have deli meats due to being pregnant but I don't like them either, so now I have nothing for lunch. I'm fuming.

He's been in the bathroom for 40 minutes so far and has only just got in the shower. Why do men need to take a half-hour poo in preparation? He'll be at least 20 minutes in the shower than at least another 20 minutes after having a shave, so I can't send him out to get something else for lunch. My parents are coming this afternoon and I need a shower before they arrive. Instead I'm looking after our 2 year old daughter in my dressing gown and feeling grubby as well as hungry.

I also need a wee and we have no other barhroom/toilet so I'm getting very irritated.

AIBU?

Bang on the bathroom door and tell him you want to use the bathroom.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 15/05/2022 12:28

If the bathroom is unlocked I'd just go in and use the loo - then I'd eat the stuff he bought for his lunch!

Please read the OP. He chose deli meats including chorizo and salami. I am 6 months pregnant and deli meats are advised against during pregnancy. I don't like them either. I did actually explain this!

I'd chuck his deli meats in the bin.

And waste food AND money? Yep, I can totally see how that would help the situation(!)

I can't just go in the bathroom. Our toddler is having lunch. I can't and won't leave her whilst she's eating due to risk of choking.

LTB 🤣 cheeky as hell that.

bellac11 · 15/05/2022 12:39

Theres nothing wrong with deli meats although you said you didnt like them

Its a fuss over a minor irritant, he shouldnt have eaten them if it was agreed between you that you needed the sandwich filler but equally all food in the house is usually for the joint occupants.

You sound like you would create an argument in a paper bag by your responses to others trying to be supportive on the thread so I doubt anyone can say anything that will placate you

Although there'll be others coming along soon to tell you to leave him because he is virtually abusive for leaving you lunchless

TheFairyNamedMary · 15/05/2022 12:40

So you both have to ask to eat food? He was greedy to eat it all but to have to ask please can I have x to eat.. all rather childish

WhoopItUp · 15/05/2022 12:41

It’s annoying. He was selfish. BUT….. I’m sure there must be something else in your fridge that you can eat. You don’t have to wait 40 minutes like a martyr for him to go to the shops to get the exact same item. Take a deep breath, eat something else and then talk to him calmly like an adult and explain why you’re annoyed.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 15/05/2022 12:42

Boil some eggs and make your own?

WhoopItUp · 15/05/2022 12:42

And take your toddler’s plate away while you go and have a wee. It’s no big deal.

mum11970 · 15/05/2022 12:43

Boil a couple of eggs and add mayo. Hey presto egg mayo!

Another thread where the OP argues with everyone’s comments because she can’t sort out her life at home!

Yup. I can't imagine how important decisions are made in this house!

seashaken · 15/05/2022 12:46

Beside the point but egg mayo is really easy to make. I'm with you though OP, if I choose and buy something for myself and DH scoffs it, it really pisses me off. It's not about the food so much as the lack of consideration.

bloodywhitecat · 15/05/2022 12:46

Ask him to swap with you while you wee then get him to make some egg mayo for lunch?

Aprilx · 15/05/2022 12:46

Going off your angry responses to reasonable comments on here, I suspect you are just determined to feel angry and wronged. Eat something else and stop being such a big baby.

NoSquirrels · 15/05/2022 12:47

Yes it’s annoying. He was selfish. Pregnant and hangry and him doing the Luxury Shit Shower routine is rage inducing.

But if you went shopping yesterday you must have other food so eat that. He can replace the egg mayo later.

KateW73 · 15/05/2022 12:49

He eats your lunch and stops you from peeing. The obvious two-birds-with-one-stone solution would be to pee on his deli meats.

Calm down😂

Surely there's something in the house you can have, or is all you have in your fridge a load of deli meats and nothing else?

MaudieandMe · 15/05/2022 12:50

I don’t get the angst. Boil some eggs, add mayo and job done. 🤷🏻‍♀️
The ready made stuff doesn’t taste anywhere near as nice as fresh, but then I’ve got my own hens.

Dilemma22 · 15/05/2022 12:52

You sound like fun

MintyMoocow · 15/05/2022 12:53

Who buys egg mayonnaise, is nasty! Boil some eggs until the yolks are not quite solid (although you might want yours a bit more hard-boiled if you are pg) and make your own, bit of salt and black pepper, yum!

Tothemoonandbackx · 15/05/2022 12:55

@KateW73 😂😂😂😂😂 Dying at this comment!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 x

Why should she do this when she made sure she had a quick and easy lunch ahead of time, and it's been all used up.
