To be annoyed over a tub of egg mayo?

Squiff70 · 15/05/2022 12:25

Yesterday morning we went shopping. We got lunch supplies for the next few days. I chose egg mayo as a sandwich filler and DP chose deli meats like chorizo.

I've just come to make lunch and found he's eaten my egg mayo. A full fucking tub. He has been known to pile it high on sandwiches but only after he's asked if we can share. This time he didn't ask.

I can't have deli meats due to being pregnant but I don't like them either, so now I have nothing for lunch. I'm fuming.

He's been in the bathroom for 40 minutes so far and has only just got in the shower. Why do men need to take a half-hour poo in preparation? He'll be at least 20 minutes in the shower than at least another 20 minutes after having a shave, so I can't send him out to get something else for lunch. My parents are coming this afternoon and I need a shower before they arrive. Instead I'm looking after our 2 year old daughter in my dressing gown and feeling grubby as well as hungry.

I also need a wee and we have no other barhroom/toilet so I'm getting very irritated.

AIBU?

Can you knock on the bathroom door and tell him he needs to hurry up because you need a shower before your parents arrive and because he needs to go out and get some more sandwich fillings for lunch being as he’s left you with nothing.

GarlicGnocchi · 15/05/2022 12:55

So rude. He needs to go and buy a replacement

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 15/05/2022 12:56

Pregnancy rage is real!

dementedpixie · 15/05/2022 12:57

You can freeze deli meats for a few days to make it OK to eat so I'd hide them in the freezer for now. Alternatively they can be cooked to make them safe to eat too.

Sounds like he's a selfish prick tbh

hopeishere · 15/05/2022 12:57

Make some egg mayo. I'm amazed people actually buy that stuff!!

Take the plate off your daughter and go to the loo.

Cancel your parents.

Buy more food so things like this don't happen. Have contingency sandwich fillings!!

FantasticButtocks · 15/05/2022 12:57

Yanbu to be annoyed.

But, in the time it takes him to have his luxurious s&s you could have made some decent fresh egg mayonnaise! Boil an egg for ten minutes and plunge into cold water. Peel and mash up with salt, pepper and parsley and keep it well away from your greedy husband 🥚

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/05/2022 12:58

So much cuntishness. I feel for you OP. It's the lack of consideration and the selfishness. He knew that was your lunch and he ate it anyway. He knows you are pregnant but he takes his sweet time making himself pretty in the morning and probably having a shwank.

None of the replies have acknowledged this - but in the eyes of some with internalised misogyny, you'd be expected to laugh and offer a blow job instead of lunch.

Isaidnoalready · 15/05/2022 12:59

I get pee rage irrationally raging when my toilet is not avaliable

cultkid · 15/05/2022 12:59

Omg you can eat deli meats even if you don't like them

You can also leave your toddler and go for a wee

He is a knob btw

But you can leave your child to do a wee. Don't make yourself suffer

you will struggle to find a second for yourself when you have two children if you are like this
Text him to get out the bathroom come supervise your daughter

dementedpixie · 15/05/2022 12:59

And bang on the door and tell him to hurry up

DonAlfonso · 15/05/2022 12:59

Maybe next time you should buy un œuf for two?

perimenofertility · 15/05/2022 12:59

He’s taking half an hour to poo because all that egg has made him a bit constipated😂

springbreak22 · 15/05/2022 12:59

You sound like you would create an argument in a paper bag

Love this

VintageVest · 15/05/2022 13:00

I do get the angst OP, I really do. The greedy 20 minute shitting bastard has crossed a line. Go and run the hot tap to deny him of his nice warm shower.

Isaidnoalready · 15/05/2022 13:01

He really shouldn't eat your food though what are you supposed to eat now

GarlicGnocchi · 15/05/2022 13:01

The egg mayo is probably why he's in the loo so long. Who eats that much egg in one go?

PeskyRooks · 15/05/2022 13:01

He shouldn't have eaten your egg mayo.
but you could've got in the bathroom before him. He didn't get in there until 11.45?

Squiff70 · 15/05/2022 13:01

Oof. This was meant to be light hearted. Now I remember why people should never start threads in AIBU 🤣

We don't have any mayo (or any spare time today to be making egg mayo) as my parents are coming this afternoon. I haven't seen them since last September. We also don't have any cheese or other meats. No eggs either as we always end up throwing more away than we actually use. Sure, I could have the deli meats that I don't like, and put our unborn baby at risk if I get listeria, but that's clearly besides the point.

He emerged from the bathroom and I told him, calmly, that I was annoyed I couldn't have lunch because he'd eaten the one thing I chose for myself (of course we share food and I don't expect him to ask permission but he knew the circumstances here). He said "fine, I'll go and get you a tub of egg mayo" and picked up the car key. I pointed out that DD was half way through her lunch, wasn't dressed and that he'd have to take her with him so I can have a shower. My parents are coming this afternoon (very soon in fact) so there isn't time for him to faff about for hours whilst I look after DD until he comes back from the supermarket, leaving me no time for a shower OR my lunch. I've just come upstairs and left him sorting DD. He will have to finish her lunch, change her nappy, get her dressed AND take her with him. He isn't happy but only because it means he can't spend the next 90 minutes playing games on his phone just because he was selfish.

But... thanks for the female solidarity ;)

God how selfish he is, I’d be upset too OP.

Moancup · 15/05/2022 13:02

The NHS doesn’t even say to avoid deli meats. Not that “be careful” is particularly clear or helpful advice.

Floralnomad · 15/05/2022 13:02

Grow up , are you seriously saying that you are pregnant and have a toddler and have nothing in the house to make some lunch with .

People have acknowledged that it’s selfish but she also has agency and is able to make and eat something else, go for a wee, and talk to her husband about this. Being pregnant doesn’t mean he isn’t allowed to have a shower, shit and shave in the morning. You’re the only one talking about blow jobs.

Moancup · 15/05/2022 13:04

So he offered to go to the shop but that wasn’t good enough?

How on Earth do you shower if you’re ever solo parenting?

Some people’s lives are just exhausting to read about.
