I don't care what shade your politics are, you should be disgusted by the Daily Fail article claiming that Angela Raynor 'distracts' Boris Johnson by crossing her legs because her debating skills aren't as good as his.

*demeans. I'm so furious I can't type properly!

It is disgusting but I think it actually does more harm to the Tories, what kind of pathetic, weak minded little eejit actually says out loud that the person in control of the leadership of a country can be easily distracted by a women crossing her legs? And why the hell would they think that reflects badly on the woman rather than themselves?

SpindleInTheWind · 24/04/2022 11:57

The story is damaging to Johnson so it's probably been put out by one of his rivals manouevering for the top job - speculated on in today's papers as being Penny Mordaunt Grin , Liz Truss and Jeremy Hunt.

Oysterbabe · 24/04/2022 11:59

It is absolutely is demeaning. I was a bit gobsmacked by that article this morning.
Also, are they implying she doesn't wear pants?

ChiswickFlo · 24/04/2022 12:01

I do hope all those who are thinking of voting Tory "because they know what a woman is" see this

I'm as GC as they come but the tories are not friends of women

Ridiculous to think they are

VladmirsPoutine · 24/04/2022 12:04

I think it does far more damage to the tories & Johnson's brand. He's a known philanderer (sp?) and a lot of people think there should be more people in Westminster with backgrounds that don't include Eton>Oxford. I think on balance the Mail has printed far worse - it's very distasteful but I wouldn't be completely disgusted & furious about it.

Lottapianos · 24/04/2022 12:06

'I'm as GC as they come but the tories are not friends of women

Totally with you. It's a disgusting, pathetic article. Shows you the dire straits they're in

MrsSebastianStan · 24/04/2022 12:08

Think it says more about sad wee Tory MP fuckwits and led-by-his-dick Johnson than it harms or demeans Angela Raynor.
They're probably narked that no female MP ever in the history of Parliament has been distracted by any of them flaunting their “ample assets”.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 24/04/2022 12:08

I like it that Angela Rayner clearly scares the Tories so much - but if the reporting of it I heard on the BBC this morning is accurate, that was a shitty article. Then again the Mail is a shitty shitrag so it's hardly a surprise.

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/04/2022 12:10

The Daily Mail is a misogynist rag.
The Conservative Party does give a fuck about women.

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/04/2022 12:11

That should be "doesn't" give a fuck about women.🙄

AlexaShutUp · 24/04/2022 12:11

It's horribly misogynistic but it's the Daily Mail, so no surprises there. I agree that it reflects more badly on Boris Johnson than it does on Angela Rayner, but it's still shocking that people think it's OK to write this drivel in this day and age.

I completely agree. The only people it demeans are those who think this appropriate and who think the current apology for a PM is so easily distracted. It certainly illuminates all the claims that he knows what a woman is.

this
says a lot more about him than her.

Itsnotmyjob · 24/04/2022 12:15

@TooBigForMyBoots
Sadly that appears to be restricted to The Queen, Mummy, and Nanny. The rest of us, not so much.

Itsnotmyjob · 24/04/2022 12:17

@TooBigForMyBoots just seen your correction sorry!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 24/04/2022 12:18

And here's what the clown has to say about it.

To think the article about Angela Raynor demean all women.
TheFormidableMrsC · 24/04/2022 12:20

Absolutely foul. I am going to complain. However, I do think that rather than paint AR as a harridan, it actually damages BJ rather more. A man who is so weak that he is distracted by a woman with legs.

resuwen · 24/04/2022 12:21

I've complained to IPSO.

This is me and I know tories are not friends of women. But they are still getting my vote sadly as women cannot organise as a political group if they cannot talk about who is (and who is not) a woman. So sadly although the tories are awful, they are also currently the only party not trying to dismantle the definitions of women which are essential for any meaningful political action. If Starmer had his way we could not say that this is how the tories treat 'women' could we? We would have no language to draw attention to the inequalities and oppression on which misogyny is built. It's a sorry state of affairs and I consider the opposition to be in a disgusting state of affairs but sadly it's a choice between a passively misogynistic party and an actively male supremacist one. So worst of two evils.

DrManhattan · 24/04/2022 12:22

We may have reached the bottom of the barrel folks.

ChiswickFlo · 24/04/2022 12:24

@Whatiswrongwithmyknee

The tories will say whatever you want whilst it is expedient for them

DO NOT expect them to back it up with action

I don't .That's not the point. The really just need to avoid taking the overtly anti-women action which labour are taking. I think you are missing the point. I just see the tories as the party least likely to fuck around with the actual definition of women. This leave the part open for women to take action. I am under no illusions that the tories are an ally. They are just not as actively an enemy as labour.
