I don't care what shade your politics are, you should be disgusted by the Daily Fail article claiming that Angela Raynor 'distracts' Boris Johnson by crossing her legs because her debating skills aren't as good as his.

Isn't it just?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 24/04/2022 19:15

Exactly FLP any tenuous reason the anti-woke right wind need to perpetuate the culture war and MN is fertile ground as it was during the Brexit fiasco

Crikeyalmighty · 24/04/2022 19:25

I am far more concerned in politics about corruption, giving mates contracts ,fraud, dirty tricks , non doms, regressive backwards laws and attitudes, isolationist policies and totally crashing parts of the economy due to Brexit than I am about starmers answer to a specific gender question , which was asked in a legal definition kind of way and to which he responded as such . I'm not a radical hard left winger but I cannot vote for a party that seem like a load of blustering Masons ,all out there to fleece the country and keep in power whatever. Luckily Angela Rayner (who isn't normally my bag) is I suspect tough as old boots and smarter than the idiot at the Mail who wrote this, badly misjudging the Mails largely female readership

Could not believe this story today. Feels like we are at risk of going back 20 years. Shame on the Daily Mail and whoever they soured this story from.

@Whatiswrongwithmyknee but when you know something is wrong what are you going to do about it? This government has removed any methods of holding them to account.

Like the new bill they're about to pass to make the Electoral Commission no longer independent. twitter.com/MarinaPurkiss/status/1518134220400508930?t=OF5RDdydCcexdtPCMxQSXw&s=19

I'm shocked the author of this 'story' is not being held to account.

Bozo himself called it 'anonymous'. Like no, the person who wrote it actually signed his name. He's the actual POLITICAL EDITOR, FFS. He needs his press pass to be removed and the 'sources' need to be revealed.

The whole MN 'feminists' " I cAnT VoTe FoR sOmEonE wHo dOeSnT kNoW wHat a WOmAn iS"schtick is a hot mess. This is the only issue MN "feminists' care about and they've thrown their cause out the window by focusing on this. They don't care about any other type of misogyny or, god forbid, misogynoir. Made me completely remove myself from 'feminism'

So Rayner’s made it up?

No idea but the Daily Mail didn’t say where the original quote came from and how it got back to Raynor and the party did it?

And there’s context. Apparently Angela made a comment in the bar. Could easily be something like “ that disgusting. sleaze Boris can’t keep his eyes of my legs, I’m going to not wear pants and really put him off” and think nothing off it. And now it been made out to be an accusation.
Which it isn’t

lightisnotwhite · 24/04/2022 20:19

It’s not the state of politics though. 4 pages of MN frothing about literally nothing. Boris says he dislikes the misogyny and Angela says she doesn’t flash. Neither of them have supported the story.
the Daily Mail are just reporting on what Twitter said.

So it’s literally just old fashioned gossip but for all the online world to chat rubbish.about.

The Mail's largely female readership have in the past loved a bit of AR hate. I think that's changing though.

ChiswickFlo · 24/04/2022 21:30

Sadly there will be plenty of tory voting women who lap this shit up

What a ridiculous thing to say. The changes TRAs are trying to bully through to the definition of 'woman' do untold harm in every single situation which impacts on women. So it's literally BECAUSE they care about ALL types of misogyny that this is being focused upon. You literally can't even talk about mysogny once the concept of woman has been evaporated into gender woo nonsense.

bUt bAtHrOoMs......wOnT yOu tHiNk oF tHe cHiLdRen!!!!!!!
Really? You can't say something more grown up than this? Bathrooms are a metaphor for the harm that males in women spaces do. So yes, there is harm when men are in women's loos but that is the tip of the ice-berg. And did you really mean to belittle the idea of thinking of the children? Because gender ideology is abusive to children in my opinion and I don't mind withstanding silly playground taunts in order to protect our children.

It is a rock and a hard place

No, it isn’t. We can join Rosie Duffield to bring about change. If she can make the sacrifices she has, the very least I can do is join her in the trenches and have her back.

Rosie Duffield's views are likely to hold much more sway when labour gets a poor electoral results. Labout leadership are clearly still a long way from recognising the problems they have and voting for the will not help them to actually start to look at the very rotten apples in their senior leadership. So yes IMHO we are between a rock and a hard place.

Sorry but in which way are tories pro-women? Many of their cabinet voted against abortion, against equal marriage (which includes lesbians), against laws that actively protect women from abuse, against fairer divorce... you're voting for a party that is actively anti women's rights because one of them once said they don't like trans people? How horribly, horribly reductive. Lovely that all you care about is the trans debate but other women in the country suffer disproportionately against the tory measures and will continue to do so if they are voted in again.

I don't think they're pro-women and I've never said so. You are putting words in my mouth here and it's not respectful. I don't only care about the trans debate. I care about equality for all. Gender ideology is not an ideology which supports equality for all. It is the exact opposite. It is an ideology which supports a privileged group further undermining the rights of an oppressed group in order to further entrench their own privilege. It is marketed well and cleverly dressed up but that is the nub of it. So it is actually because I care for the rights of all oppressed groups, that I can note vote for a party which is very actively supporting the work of an effectively supremacist group. It's in fact the exact opposite of reductive. A vote for labour is a vote AGAINST equality for women and likely, therefore, in the end against equality for any group. I'm not naive about the horrors of tories but I can note vote for party that now only stands for male rights.

Blossomtoes · 24/04/2022 22:22

Better not vote Tory then.

Blossomtoes · 24/04/2022 22:22

If there was an alternative, I'd take it. Labour is explicitly male supermacist now. I see tory with their passive approach the best of a very bad bunch. Genuinely have explored other parties to see if there is a party who is not also taking the male supermacist TWAW approach and was beyond gutted not to find one. Spoil vote? I considered that and was tempted but for right or wrong I think a tory vote is the least worst evil right now. It eats me up inside to say that and to think that and I'm so angry at labour for putting women in this position.

What's the deal with the random capitals? I've seen it in a few places recently - is it meant to signify/convey something?
