I don't care what shade your politics are, you should be disgusted by the Daily Fail article claiming that Angela Raynor 'distracts' Boris Johnson by crossing her legs because her debating skills aren't as good as his.

Clearly a lot of work would be needed and it would be an uphill struggle. But what are you going to do about it when we no longer know who is being thrown under the bus, denied opportunities in work, abused more, dies more in hospitals, is paid less, is not sitting on panels, not getting senior roles, doing more childcare etc. etc.?

I see your point but a lot of those things are related to rights we already supposedly have which our brexiteer government have said they want to get rid of rather than strengthen and enforce. It won't mean a lot to say that women are losing out in the workplace when you voted in the government that said they would make that happen.

You can say you won't know who loses out, but the fact is under the tories, pretty much everyone does.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 24/04/2022 16:29

I loathe Angela Raynor but I don't like that article at all.

Anyway, we've moved a bit from the subject of the post.

Yes, it's a disgraceful article. Can't we tell that Paul Dacre is back?!!

Is he? I didn’t know that. It explains everything.

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 24/04/2022 16:44

I know. It's a sad state of affairs when you can choose between everyone suffering more with the hope that this can be redressed in the future or overall everyone suffering a little less but with inequalities which mean that still women are paying more of a price than men forever hidden from view. It is a rock and a hard place.

Tanith · 24/04/2022 15:45

I also find it odd that there's such upset over the Daily Mail article, but no-one seems all that bothered about the Guardian/Sunday Times articles:

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/three-cabinet-ministers-face-sexual-misconduct-claims-c8t58nhxx

56 MPs! 70 separate complaints of sexual misconduct!

After I posted on this thread I thought "Why is the Mail stirring up misogyny against Andela Raynor today?"🤔 They did it to hide the story about Conservative MP, James Gray who suggested sending a bomb to office of Annesliese Dodds last year.Hmm

Blossomtoes · 24/04/2022 16:46

No, it isn’t. We can join Rosie Duffield to bring about change. If she can make the sacrifices she has, the very least I can do is join her in the trenches and have her back.

GreenLunchBox · 24/04/2022 16:46

Why do people have to preface their 'condemnation' of the article with 'I loathe Angela Rayner' or 'I don't agree with her politics but' ?

You know you are allowed to just say something is disgusting without undermining the statement with an attack on the person, don't you?🙄🤔

.

GreenLunchBox · 24/04/2022 16:48

I hate this new MN website. It's actually awful

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/04/2022 16:48

56 MPs.
3 Cabinet Ministers.
2 Shadow Cabinet Ministers.

Is it any wonder that sexual assault and rape is practically legal now.🤬

lightisnotwhite · 24/04/2022 16:51

I call bollocks.
Some “anonymous” Conservative has apparently said this but no one was any the wiser until Labour refuted the claims in a blaze of publicity ….
and then it’s in the Fail and over Twitter.

So are you saying that no one said this at all then?

It was all over twitter once the article was published ffs 🙄

No shocker really - on the day it was also reported that over 50 MPs are being investigated over sexual misconduct including 3 cabinet ministers - absolutely disgusting

100problems · 24/04/2022 17:02

We may have reached the bottom of the barrel folks.

God loves an optimist, but I think incredibly we are still not there yet.

Misogyny denier

theDudesmummy · 24/04/2022 17:07

That's not true. The article was in the MoS and then there was a later headline with Labour's response.

Whether I am disgusted or not is my opinion so thanks OP for telling me I SHOULD BE DISGUSTED

Well you should be. And if you're not then I don't really know what to say.

Oh sorry, MN is 'anti-woke' now so this would fall under that remit wouldn't it 🙄

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 24/04/2022 12:34

I don't .That's not the point. The really just need to avoid taking the overtly anti-women action which labour are taking. I think you are missing the point. I just see the tories as the party least likely to fuck around with the actual definition of women. This leave the part open for women to take action. I am under no illusions that the tories are an ally. They are just not as actively an enemy as labour.

Sorry but in which way are tories pro-women? Many of their cabinet voted against abortion, against equal marriage (which includes lesbians), against laws that actively protect women from abuse, against fairer divorce... you're voting for a party that is actively anti women's rights because one of them once said they don't like trans people? How horribly, horribly reductive. Lovely that all you care about is the trans debate but other women in the country suffer disproportionately against the tory measures and will continue to do so if they are voted in again.

FairyLightPups · 24/04/2022 19:04

Tories don't actually give a fuck about the trans debate. They also don't give a fuck about women, people in need of any support, disabled people or anyone skint, suffering or struggling. If you think that anything good will come out of voting for them again just because the PM once said all women have vaginas, you are hugely close-minded and need a massive wake up call.

anniegun · 24/04/2022 19:05

Tory MPs and the Mail = this shit

All hes said on the matter is he doesnt think men should be in womens sport but refused to say who has a cervix

So then he's not even said it?! And people on this website still think he cares enough to vote for multiple more years of austerity? Jesus christ, just say you're a high earner with worries about tax going up and go.

Wow, just wow

What a great time to be a woman
