The description of a pet or having one?

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 18/04/2022 20:41

What's this about? The term furbaby? Having a pet? Over pampering?

UsernameIsNotAvailableRightNow · 18/04/2022 20:41

Let people be happy.

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 20:44

I love animals. It’s the term “furbaby” - I keep seeing it everywhere. Yuck.

My teens no longer "need" me. I still need to (s)mother.
My dogs are my fur babies!

BITE ME! Grin

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 20:46

We have a fairly pampered dog and I laugh at some of the stuff my friends do for their dogs - birthday parties etc.... doesn’t bother me. It’s the term “furbaby” - its like nails down a blackboard.

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 20:47

@TheBigFatMermaid I feel sick Grin

Hotchox · 18/04/2022 20:49

You could always reply by talking about your skinpuppies Grin

Furrbabymama87 · 18/04/2022 20:50

Well I disagree ☺. It's how I separate my dog from my human babies.

Changechangychange · 18/04/2022 20:51

You are completely right OP, but you will get flamed in here by all the “Furbaby Mummies” for saying it Grin

I am also Hmm at the threads titled “my darling little boy died in my arms today” which sound like bereaved parents but turn out to be somebody whose ageing fish or hamster has snuffed it.

Ahgoonyegirlye · 18/04/2022 20:51

YANBU.

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2022 20:51

It’s not what I would call my pets. Do the friends doing dog parties have kids as well?

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/04/2022 20:52

Got a fur baby right next to me, other at my feet.

VerifiedBot2351 · 18/04/2022 20:52

Yanbu.

toastofthetown · 18/04/2022 20:54

I can't get worked up about it. There's many words I'm not a fan of, but I get on with my life. Are you usually so dramatic as to have such inane things make you nauseous?

XenoBitch · 18/04/2022 20:55

My dog is my furbaby. It takes absolutely nothing away from you for other people to refer to their pets as such.

oioimatey · 18/04/2022 20:55

I don't like the term myself

Goldengoosey · 18/04/2022 20:57

Oh no I’d never call my special girl my furbaby. I just call her my BABY Grin

NotImpossible · 18/04/2022 20:57

It makes me cringe a bit. Dogs and cats are not 'babies' and anthropomorphism can lead to poor pet care. YANBU.

Theunamedcat · 18/04/2022 20:59

My cat absolutely believes he is my baby and he is more demanding that my real one's somedays

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 20:59

I don’t why why it annoys me so much Grin @toastofthetown I am normally pretty chilled. I think it’s the tweeness of it and the juxtaposition of fur and baby that turns my stomach. It’s makes me think of a fur covered baby. Yuck. Well, you did ask Grin

Illwithdisappointment · 18/04/2022 21:00

I agree. It winds me up. Both the words 'furbaby' and 'holibobs' no idea why but I hate those terms!

ilovesooty · 18/04/2022 21:00

I call mine babies but I don't think I've ever referred to them as my furbabies. Not bothered if other people do.
