Make me feel nauseous.

@Hotchox

You could always reply by talking about your skinpuppies Grin
Aaaaaand that’s enough internet for today. Jesus. Grin
missymarrk · 18/04/2022 21:53

It's up there with the word lush and hubby. Twee shite!

SpaceFarce · 18/04/2022 21:54

@Saz12

It always puts me in mind of films like “The Fly” - like a very hairy and pained half-baby-half-canine writhing and looking desperate. I think that’s my issue rather than everyone else’s (but that’s because everyone else is wrong...).
Cross posted with something even more horrifying. What is wrong with you all?! 😂
gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 21:56

@Saz12. Not just me then! That’s it. Or a weird gremlin type creature.

My fur baby is currently snoring her head off on the sofa and is one of the biggest loves of my life 😊

We celebrate her birthday, her gotcha day, and spoil her rotten because, well, she’s our fur baby! I’m definitely her mum and all of the above makes us all very happy.

So while the term annoys you, there are lots of other terms that annoy me, but I’m very much a “live and let live” kind of person so thankfully don’t give two hoots about how other people may view me and my baby girl 😄

GoodJanetBadJanet · 18/04/2022 21:57

Yes. The only worthy thing in life is children and any woman who cares about anything else should shut up and reproduce immediately as everyone finds her so embarrassing

Eh?!
Nobody's said that!!

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 21:57

Oh yes and I heard a furbaby person talking about skin babies. Wrong wrong wrong
@Butchyrestingface

Fids is better actually. I think it’s the visual picture of a big furry baby that gives me the boak.
But fids are not furbabies. They're a different species.

So furbabies would still need a descriptor. What do you suggest?

amatsip · 18/04/2022 21:58

@Changechangychange My darling boy died in my arms on Jan 14th this year, he was 14 and riddled with throat cancer. He wasn’t just my dog he was my sanity.
I’m sorry if me grieving for my darling boy offends you or gives you the ick.
Many a much moment I wish I could join him as it hurts so bad not having him next to me as he always was.
My life is a bag of shite, my dog was everything to me.
Id never felt truly loved till I had him.

Thank you for your nasty comments.

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 21:58

@Bofthebang dogs are the best! Enjoy your dog Wink

@amatsip so sorry about the loss of your dog. They really are special creatures. Very loving. We lost our first dog when he was only 1 and it was awful. Sad

YANBU

I’ve worked with animals, mainly dogs and cats, for over 20 years and have never (or will ever) refer to them as such.

But each to their own!

ickky · 18/04/2022 22:05

I hate it too. Also why have people suddenly started referring to dogs as doggo? Equally annoying.

IReallyLikeCrows · 18/04/2022 22:07

I'm not keen on that word. My cat is my boychik and next door's cat is my ginger stepson (because he spends so much time in my house, he's currently sleeping on my bed). So, yeah, he's my "child" and all that but furbaby just makes me think of an actual baby that's very hairy.

ineedsun · 18/04/2022 22:08

YANBU also makes me want to heave.

Likewise pennies instead of money, tinkle instead of phone call, hollibobs instead of holidays. In fact any baby talk from an adult on reflection.

Fulmine · 18/04/2022 22:10

YANBU. Likewise describing pets as boys and girls.

ilovesooty · 18/04/2022 22:13

I don't see what's wrong with that. I often tell mine that they're good boys.
Livpool · 18/04/2022 22:16

YANBU

It makes me cringe

Fulmine · 18/04/2022 22:17

A boy is a young male person, not a mature dog.

MintyGreenDream · 18/04/2022 22:17

When my tiny puppy gazes up at me from underneath a blanket its hard not to refer to her as a baby.My dogs are very small and I love them so much.I draw the line and dressing them up though.

Happymum12345 · 18/04/2022 22:17

It’s funny the things that annoy us. I don’t mind furbabies but I can’t stand the phrase-our forever home.

Butchyrestingface · 18/04/2022 22:17

I don't see what's wrong with that. I often tell mine that they're good boys.

MY bois are mama's precious princelings. As can be attested by many on my office Zoom calls when I forget to mute. Grin

GalactatingGoddess · 18/04/2022 22:17

YANBU, mind you, I don't 100% agree with the concept of pets though so that's my general belief around it.

But, each to their own and if it makes people happy who would otherwise be unhappy, then whatever.

Butchyrestingface · 18/04/2022 22:18

@Fulmine

Oh aye, mustn't infantilise or anthropomorphise the dug. Might trigger it.
Squiff70 · 18/04/2022 22:24

"Furbabies" and all that SHITE about "Rainbow Bridge". I've had, loved and lost many pets over the years. People telling me they've gone "over the rainbow bridge" is as bad as losing them! Urgh! Leave it out!
